    Sevr is the best and only broad head I’ll ever use again . They are as dependable and even more accurate than any fixed that I have used. Never had a deer go farther than 50 yds even on bad shots . They just don’t fail !

    We shot two does last year with a Beast. Broadside through the ribs. In both cases the head opened up about 1-1/2” on entry but then closed and made a small wound channel through the vitals. Going through a rib was enough to close them and they did not open back up through the heart and lungs. Not the performance I would like from a mechanical. It was open after passing through the deer.

    The Swhacker blades have sharpened opposed rib breaker blades when in the closed position. Those will break through the rib cage and then deploy the big sharp blades when it’s inside. Creates havoc. I only use the 2”. I’ve NEVER tracked a deer farther than 25 feet. Looks like a crime scene. So much blood Stevie Wonder could find your deer.

      If you do your job, they will do theirs. If you notice, all others that look like a Swhacker don’t have the sharpened rib breakers. The Rage’s don’t either. Their biggest weakness. There’s a patent on the rib breaker blades. My last buck was 30 yards broadside. I drilled him through both lungs. He ran 14 feet. 14 feet on my honor. Fell over and kicked once. That was it. These deflate those air bags fast. When it breaks through the rib cage, the big blades deploy inside the cavity and the haven’t cut anything yet so they are razor sharp. Tears them up. I’ll never use anything else.

    Used Grim Reaper for a long time, just switched to the Sevr.... The SEVR is no joke!!! Looks like a permanent switch for me. It was like turning on a water fountain. You can close them by hand hold a blade in each hand ( fingers) one side go up and away the other, down and toward will unlock ( slowly obviously its a razor sharp arrow) and close. Also when using as a practice head remove the rubber bands or roll them all the way down to the fletching.

    I'm choosing the Swhacker Hybrid this year. Been using the old standard green ones up to this point with no issues, just the hybrid seems a touch better to have more entry wound when you have a broadside shot. Any amount of quartering and the regular swhackers will leave a massive gash.

    I have given up on mechanicals. Way too many of my kills have turned passing through ribs on broadside shots and ended up exiting way outside of vitals. Of these kills, more than half have gone over 100 yards. Switched back to a fixed 3 blade and haven't had a deer go more than 50 yards since (and no exit wounds outside of vitals). Bonus: I can then sharpen the blades and reuse them, unlike every mechanical I have shot, which is either ruined or requires replacement blades. Fixed blade, ftw

    Out of the testing in this video, the Grim reapers won hands down IMO. I have yet to use them on a deer, but I have some on my work bench that might just get used this year. I always trend towards a fixed head, but the results I am seeing with those grim reapers is very interesting. For a non rear deploying head, they seem very reliable too. I have played with them a bit myself and it seems if the arrow goes in reasonably straight, which any well tuned bow should accomplish, they open up with no issue. The cutting size is just absolutely devastating on them.

Still cant figure out the no blood thing but as long as they drop that close i guess i dont really need a trail to follow haha

    I just know from research and common sense that a cut on contact broadhead will always be a better choice. I have been burned by Rage and friends have as well. All the big hunting shows on tv will get 6” penetration and turn to the camera like they hung the moon. It’s embarrassing

      I agree and this is why I stayed away from them for five years and only shot fixed blades. I think a lot of these companies have come leaps and bounds from other companies that just couldn't cut it. Getting a pass through on deer with the compound bow technology, the correct arrow weight and set up with a sharp broadhead should be expected almost every single time. I'll be using a couple of these this year and will also have a fixed blade on hand. I'll keep you posted on how I make out.

    technically, what you're saying about penetration isn't correct given these factors. Same bow, same arrows, same ballistic gel. the only difference are the broadheads. i think what you mean is the ballistic gel isn't accurate compared to flesh on say, a deer. But this is technically a direct representation of penetration test too...

    • @cariboumediaoutdoors
      @cariboumediaoutdoors  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Not when the broadheads function differently. The Beast is designed to close and go around dense material before opening up again. The Sevrs are designed to pivot side to side to do the same. The other two open and stay open. So when you shoot those into a dence material, it's not a direct representation of how these heads will react when inside an animals cavity. That's all I was trying to say.
