    Thanks for uploading, great help. You come highly recommended.
    I'd suggest slowing down a bit though - blasting through it in record time like you've got somewhere else to be is great if you've done it a bunch of times as you clearly have but idk what pipes you're pulling out and dont have much chance to register what you're undoing at times because it's all done so fast.
    Also couldnt see what you're doing half the time because the headmount was misadjusted

    Looking to do this to my 2006 525d, am i right in saying that the 525d is also the m57 engine. Sorry just got the car and trying to learn everything i can so i can do all work myself. Your videos are helping massively.

    I have a similar kit but it has a metal gasket.. seems to be leaking at the gasket should I remove you don’t have one

    Won't you need a remap? Surely if the EGR is blanked, once engine is warmed up it will set a 4501 fault code because MAF reading will be too high?

    HI Dean, 2 questions - So there is no software mapping out of the egr required when removing then? What about the smoke for MOT? I know the tester can't see the delete because of the engine cover - but isn't the smoke detected on emissions?

    Excellent video I just noticed my turbo is whistling maybe my turbo pipe is not on properly on the bottom

      not always a whistle will be because of that pipe turbos whistle aswell as they get play in the turbine on the turbo and it sometimes means your TURBO is failing

    Do you have to remove the whole kit or can you just blank the part near the shutter valve. The kits they sell on ebay for my e53 3.0d on a 2005 suggest you can just blank and not remove the full cooling system.

      yes mate you can on E53 its the same as E39 all you need is the blank OR just put a screw in the vaccum hose that goes to the EGR valve mate as you dont need to actually remove it that vacuum hose controls the opening and closing of the EGR valve

    Great vid! Would you recommend installing a full blanking kit or just unplug and blank that vacuum hose? Whats the real difference if i would leave that cooler unit with thermostat? Hope you`ll answer. Cheers!

      I would remove the remap before you end up with your gearbox going out
      And then what I would do is remove the EGR AND SWIRL FLAPS and then get that just mapped out ONLY and remove the remap trust me the gearbox will go being remapped i HATE diesel with remap
      I don’t understand it if you want fast car why not just go M5 ???

      No mate it cannot do not listen to that crap the reason bmw put them under torque is for safety they tried it at higher torque and it ripped out gearboxes I would remove that remap
      All the things you hear about how FASSTTTTT they are remapped let me tell you there poo poo mate that’s why I would rather stick with my petrol
      If your having to remap a car to get power then there is no point in having that car that’s the only reason people buy these but please understand when I see them at lights and I’m well respected at shows and KNOWN highly on forums
      As I tell everyone if you having to remap a diesel for power and you can’t just go buy proper M5 something is wrong with your pockets or bank account
      I look to have E60 M5 on here after Xmas as that’s what I’m getting next
      If I was you mate do away with the remap and enjoy it standard failing that sell it and get something better like a 335i twin turbo petrol or 540i or 550i
      As there isn’t gonna be anymore diesels on here mate so we’re not gonna be able to communicate properly If I’m honest as I tell all the guys from the U.K. these videos don’t earn me enough to warrant and majority of my subs are USA and they pay me the highest and biggest so I do everything mostly for them That is why nobody did diesel on here as it wasn’t worth it no money to be made it’s all the poor country’s like U.K. and Eu that watch only

    Some people say :that removing egr will cause further problems with dpf.
    Must be removed together

      I was told same thing, that DPF must go out as well when you want to delete EGR. I think that EGR is needed to artificially raise engine and exhaust temperature to perform sucessfull DPF regeneration. I was told that I can do it as cheap solution when my DPF goes to hell or when I would want to remap and tune my engine remove DPF and EGR at the same time. You must code car to not expect recirculated volume of exhaust gasses to be present. When I tried just to blank vacuum tube and disable EGR this way, my car responded with engine light to come on and EGR error in Engine management module.

    Thanks for the video. I have the 35d in my X5 and just hade the EGR mapped out and will soon do the EGR blanking and swirl flaps delete.
    My charge pipe is soaked in oil before the intercooler. My turbos sounds all right with no surge or whistle. In another video you talked about the crankcase breather membrane that dissolves with time. Can this affect the oil mess at the charge pipes?.

      Yep exactly that mate that is what the oil is doing as it can’t seperate it properly from beeing clogged it goes back into the manifold and straight into the inter cooler in turn flooding the turbos with oil and chucking oil all over the engine stay tuned as I’m doing a tear down of this engine

      It’s a special silicone which I use for these sort of things it’s also used for removing glow plugs to not seize up

    Thank you for the video above.
    I have experienced intake manifold carbon buildup and an EGR cooler fault code: 4873 (EGR cooling ,plausibility) which I tried addressing with an EGR valve clean and then a spring replacement on the cooler, to no avail. Still getting occasional check engine light and code 4873 when in city stop and go traffic after running vehicle 30 mins on dual carriage highway.NB -engine coolant temperature is unremarkable reading 87-89 deg. C.
    On an M57N2 engine (2009 X5) can you delete only the EGR system , or, is it required(best) that you delete DPF, SCR due to clogging of DPF?

      My friend clearly you have no knowledge you do not CODE IT SHUT
      You have to remap it SHUT
      BIG DIFFERENCE and there is no point all that egr cooler and egr is in the way for servicing and maintenance and it’s pointless
      Also it’s not OBVIOUS mot people do not check to see if EGR is there I know this only too well I’m MOT tester myself so I know about this kind of stuff

    Hi Doc Dean, the kit that I have been sent doesn’t have the blanks for the thermostat on the egr, can I use the both blanking plates and the bung for the pipe and leave the egr and thermostat in situ or will the thermostat give me problems?

      No it don’t it uses a belt driven waterpump so cheap and easy to replace

      Yes dipstick uses the same kind of thermostat as m54 and waterpump no different cheap and easy to maintain only expense is the turbos

    the whole process and action was so fast and forward that the video title should be “working on bmw with adderal” :D just joking, great video, will remove both egr and dpf, everything not needed for engine operation that restricts air flows etc is just plain dumb keeping.

      Sorry about that, it was because I was using a head mount to try and make you see as much as possible.
      Do not worry my filming has improved majorly now and if I do this again it will be much much better quality recorded

    Love the concept of the video but, not everyone is a Brit, slow down when you talk. Camera angle needs to face the part that you're talking about, Aimed a bit high. Nice clean and organized garage, just wondering how you get out of the car if you park inside. Please don't let these comments stop you from making more videos, just use them to improve. I've been looking for a diesel either MB or BMW and yours is one of the few out there on BMW m57.

    My car is having problems with DPF. I believe it has stopped doing a regen after two attempts. The swirl flaps have been removed and blanked off before this happened and I’m starting to suspect that the EGR has not been blanked off too. Code 00452A keeps coming up when plugged in, DPF warning light has stopped popping up on iDrive after second attempt at regeneration. Fuel consumption is slightly higher than usual. I’ve had the DPF replaced, the airflow sensor replaced the glow plugs replaced and I’m starting to loose confidence and my temper with the mechanic. The same problem and code with DPF still exists. Oh not forgetting to mention the amount of money I’ve spent. Does the EGR have to be blanked off too when swirl flaps are removed or is just a EGR software manipulation to trick the computer.

    Orite mate. Having swirl flaps deleted next week dpf already done and coded out. Can you delete my egr in a day if I come to you?

    Hi doc, Had my egr delete on 530d last week and followed all the steps from the video except removing the oil line. After I blanked it the car use to much diesel and I noticed that when I’m driving and releasing the throttle my rpm goes down and jump up fast, and it’s accelerating intentionally if I release the throttle. And I don’t get any low down power like before. Need some help!

      I would do it if it was mine and deleted out of ecu it will be expensive if you don’t have equipment or know how but for me it’s cheap

      What im asking is, if you delete the egr than probably the dpf will get clooged and youll have problems so youll have to delete eventualy the dpf too?

      No not at all not if your glow plug and module works that’s what regenerates the DPF and cleans it nothing else

    Hey Dean, top video! Just had a question regarding the small hose that you disconnected at 3:15... I understand that it connects the vortex breather/crankcase breather to the turbo intake pipe. My question is, what does this little pipe do? as when I did my EGR delete I accidently forgot to connect it and my turbo spooling was just amazing, sick low-down power! When I realised I left it out I reconnected it only to find out the car became sluggish again like before.... does it need to be connected?

      Yes it does mate it’s the vacuum lines for the turbo if it’s not back on you will get running lean codes and emission controls once the sensor detects it mate and will throw you in limp mode it will feel like your gaining extra boost as the pipes are restrictive to help with emissions along with the vacuum lines that pull vacuum to operate the actuators first the boost low down

      I did end up attaching a jubilee clip to this rubber pipe as it was just pushed on, and I think that made some difference to be fair :)

      Stop the carbon going into the manifold let’s the turbo spoil better and gives more power and gets rid of the rough running

    Hi! Your videos are very helpful and interesting. I have '05 E61 525d, a did everything like in video, but now I have some problem with turbo. Between 2100-2500 rpm i have poor boost pressure.
    I made a chart i TESTO, and it is visible in actual charge pressure and actual MAF. Is it possible that it is becasue of egr deleted, maybe I should remove EGR from ECU? After few days, ECU detected that is something wrong with EGR and showed fault in DDE. Sorry for my English ;)
