*Me- pulling up a chair at the kids table and listening to the grown ups talk.
Seriously great stuff. Just a wealth of knowledge that, not too long ago, most people simply don’t have a view into.

Worked a home defense situation where a .38 snubnose was used. 3 rounds of some sort of Hornady defense at 1-2 feet distance were put into the perp. 1st shot entered through the face, took out some teeth, broke his jaw, and exited through the neck, severely damaging the spine, then stopping in the flat screen mounted on the wall. Second two rounds entered through his side and stopped just before getting to his heart. He was obviously stopped cold there, but what was extremely weird was the lack of blood, there was basically no blood anywhere on the scene. Perp somehow lived but won’t be breaking into anymore homes after that.

This is a great video and puts a lot in perspective in terms of power and performance from a snub. Thank you!!

Nice show. I wish that the marketing people at Hornady would let customers know the differences between Critical Duty for full size pistols and Critical Defense for compact pistols. The cartridges "look the same" on the outside, but the chemistry is very different. Many false concealed carry instructors and false legal experts tell citizens to carry the same ammo as the local cops. ...No, unless the citizen is using a full size cop pistol.
A fellow instructor is an oral surgeon. He is awesome. He has similar tales of bullet performance with his experiences reconstructing people after being shot. He also does not put up with nonsense. Some instructors are incompetent A holes that mistreat others. He puts them in their place.

Seen many GSW. 38 spl is effective.i carry one everyday. I don’t expect and expansion with HP. The only advantage of a 9 40 45. Is magazine capacity. Glad i found this pod cast.

Paul Gomez was awesome. Really drilled into me the importance of maintaining a full firing grip at all times, especially during muzzle aversion around no shoots and in ready positions.

I genuinely appreciate all of your content and information based off the collective years of experience with you and your guests.
Regarding the comments and snickering in this one about the grocery and baloney bullet tests aka; Paul Harrell and Revolver Sam. Yes it’s true each of their test mediums are not very repeatable and therefore not extremely scientific. On the other hand they each bring something different that isn’t another gel test which as you guys say here isn’t exactly the most definitive medium either.
Many of the Tactical Tommy’s on TH-cam making some ridiculous videos and claims definitely deserve criticism and laughter. However both Paul and Sam seem like honest, genuine snd respectable dudes. I’ve never heard either ever say their homemade tests are the benchmark standard for bullet performance. They’re simply doing what they can to provide another viewpoint. 🤷‍♂️ 👊

1:50:50 Another big user of big bore military handguns was the British Empire, who shot .450 and .455 revolvers in pretty much continuous colonial warfare from the cap and ball days until the 1930's.

Own a XDS 45. Use hollow points. I guess expansion will be iffy at best. Fortunately, the bullet is already large.

Can someone help. At 1:14:15 I don't understand Chuck Haggard's idea that if, the racoon in his example, is "moving with the bullet" that may be the reason for lack of penetration compared to ballistic gel.
Something I recently noticed. I was looking a the Lucky Gunners gel tests and noticed that many of the HP bullets that did not expand, but stayed within the FBI specs for penetration, tumbled (I looked at the pictures that showed that none of the rounds exp, then clicked on the name of the cartridges to see the slow mo). The 9mm HP's that did not expand seemed more consistant in not overpenetrating compared to .380, .40 and .45. The 4's that did not expand often tumbled but also over penetrated.
