Summary in gist (for only my future ref):
NITI Ayog's Composite Water Index in short said that 70% of water we use is contaminated & warns the future depletion of water by 2030. Will lead to 6% GDP Loss by 2050.
    Solutions:
    1) To understand the basis of water management
    2) To conserve forests, rivers, local water bodies from where the ground water gets recharged as 60% of our needs is fulfilled by Ground water.
    3) Restricted & smart use of aquifers
    4) Proper govt. action plans like interlinking of rivers between rivers having surplus water and river having scarcity of water, but in a sustainable way and without affecting the environment

Why doesn't anybody talk about the distribution of the water guzzling crops like sugarcane and rice?
North West India produces a significant portion of the rice while Maharashtra produces a significant portion of sugarcane, both drought prone regions. Why don't we instead promote these crops in areas that have sufficient water, like Bengal, Bihar and Western UP?

Water is more important than the blood in our body because if there is no water then certainly there is no blood in our body. Do whatever it takes to conserve water. I would even suggest that whatever govt would be formed in 2019 they should form comprehensive water management policy and work on it as their 1'st priority for whole 5 years of their governance. And I would like to thank NITI Aayog for bringing this report out because it will spread awareness and that what is needed. We can not neglect water issues. Crisis is standing at our doorstep.

To overcome this issue according (water pollution and depletion of ground water ) some suggestions are
    1. First and most important is the proper awareness regarding water conservation
    2. Decentralized the water management system
    3. Working on river basins
    4. These report will be produced health competition among states for conservation or proper managment of water
    5. Strict Regulation by CPCB on Industrial effluent ( proper monitoring of COB, BOD, TSS and Flow also)
    6. Forestation , as mentioned in this discussion , Due to River linkage project , deforestation was occurred near bundelkhand area , So point is forest has equally importance for rain and biodiversity.
    7. We should consider water as a money , as we put extra money in bank for getting adequate interest , extra water like rain water we should reserve it or conserve it so when we will face water crisis , we can use this reservoir .
    8. Just like Electricity bill , why not Govt can regulate how much water consumption is occurred per month at per house , that will introduce to optimal use of water in daily life.
As we know " जल ही जीवन है" ( water is life ) but unfortunately today 70% water is polluted in our country . For the grace of mother nature we have full of water resources , only we have to work on proper management of water consumtion in our country to overcome this issue.

Water scarcity is the problem to be faced high in our future...... its an known fact..... infact govt is taking many measures... but the problem is lack of implementations.. several committees should be formed by the both central and state govts. and should be monitored regularly.. so that we can prevent and maintain our ground water level... by just passing orders we can reduce the water scarcity... thus govt is in need to take specific measures.. as a citizen of india we also have responsibilities we should plant trees ... implement rain water harvesting in ourhouses.. and usage of water should be minimized as much as we can.........

It is rightly said, India will face water shortage in coming years based upon current situation. But along increasing population density if water management improved we will get great results same like Tokyo city water management where recycling level of water close to 96%. Government have right solution only we have to implement fast and more efficiently. Nice panel discussion at RSTV. With best wishes to all RSTV team 🙂

India needs to raise the priority and improve water resources, specially if it is going to get worse. Management of water in India is pretty bad. If that means taking charge of water from states and improve water condition. China has less water and yet they are doing better than India managing water.

Mr.Himanshu Thakkar is only criticizing the Govt, initiatives and plans ,he is just making the discussion debate type rather productive interaction. And at the end dont invite JNU professor like Kulshethra not having sense what he is speaking.

His criticism on DamanGanga was correct. After 1 week of Monsoon rainfall, Mumbai converts into pond.
By just water harvesting, whole MMR can conserve water, ample for their use for a year.
There's no point in giving more water to mumbai from other rivers.

we are composed of a bunch of peoples who on the outset talk about the diversity of our country but on the inside we could not even share water with other states ,,,, riots have take place in this issue and what does central govt do ?? stay put because it might hurt us in the elections ,,,, improper use of water resources is not a new thing it has been carried out for many years now but nobody does anything because it might be a wrong political move ,,,,

    In ground reality
Do you think giving water tanks to poor people for political gains gets future problems
Rejuvenate the water channels that are closing due occupation of people on them and there flow of rain water to connect tanks are hindered and are leading to dried of tanks and flourish like old days tanks
The land which were earlier tanks are now occupied by political party MLA's and making real estate on that and selling the land
Only management of tanks are losing there rain water harvesting and loss of water table
Think about rivers how land was occupied and people commercialisation of sands from it.
    Do you expect good rains.
