I’ve been watching this video from time to time for a few months. I finally decided to pick one of these v12 guitars up. I love my S-500 Fullerton Deluxe, and I suspect I’ll love this one too. Many thanks for the video. Fantastic playing and great walkthrough.
Thanks for the thorough rundown of the G&L Doheny V12, it's recently caught my eye and I love the tones. F-100 MFD HBs are interesting, coils are spaced a little wider than usual, dual magnet and there's the metal base plate like a Tele pup. Unique clear tones.
Beautifully done Jonathan. I hope that you get the time to do a clip where you go through the pickups with overdrive. I had the opportunity to hear a Doheny V12 in the hands of a very competent guitar player going from warm ambient clean tones to full on Metal Shred. This really is one very versatile guitar from G&L.
There actually a lot of videos about the guitar played with distortion...didnt see the need to do another one...check this one out...th-cam.com/video/I3KtFJISt6Y/w-d-xo.html
One of the first G&L guitars, the F-100, had MFD Humbucker pickups designed by Leo, so it's likely that these pickups are based on Leo's original design.
This guitar is on my dream axe list. Simply cannot afford it, which is probably why I'm going to be dreaming about having it for the next 10 years. Lol. That being said the tone is unbelievable! This is the guitar I've been waiting for. The perfect PUs matched to the perfect body. I absolutely adore offset guitars. They excite me just looking at them. Too bad ill probably never own one. Smh
Not often a HB guy but as I commented on the official V12 video, the flat MFD Hums have something just sweetly magical about them. Oh I wish those F-100 were still made so I could hear a comparison to the regular humbucker jumbo mfds!
hey John...i love the look of this guitar..the fretboard...man this guitar has soul...deep soul..thanks for that soulful playing ...i'm enjoying these sessions
Wow that’s on my wish list but now I have to move it up the list. That’s a gorgeous guitar. Your playing was incredible. I could listen to it over and over again. Thanks for the wonderful review. Those MFD’s sounds awesome. 🤠🎸🤘
Very nice playing, as usual Jonathan, and another lovely G & L guitar. I’ve got my ‘first one’, an ASAT Classic Tribute Tele. I love it, and I have owned many Tele’s over the years 😊
A very good looking and sounding versatile guitar. But in your hands most of em sounds delicious! This fulfill all my needs without customising/wiring. But my favorite G&L is the Z-coiled Comanche - those PUs are so unique. Thank you for your demo and stay well ☮️
Watched this video for like 10 times. So beautiful playing! I wonder what does the gloss finish G&L offers feels like. Man I wish we could have satin doheny v12
What a beauty! awesome! Now after all this great guitars it's time for the seak of fairness to review a bad and possibly cheap guitar (it will sound good anyway in your hands but we don't tell anybody ok?) 😜 Take care fratello mio
Thanks for a very nice review Jonathan. Listning to the HH and the V12 on your reviews, it seems to me, that the V12 sounds more open and crisp than the HH version just comparing the neck pickups in humbucker mode. It that also what you heard in the room playing the guitars? Thank you
@@JonIsJustTooLoud :-) - and the Skyhawk seems to sound even fuller/warmer than the V12 in both neck and neck/middle position. A lot of TONE in the Skyhawk. Surely a guitar that can do it all..right? also twangy in the bridge position for country stuff? Thanks a lot
Hi there. Great review. I own 2 asat and a legacy... plus a Les Paul and ES357... but I am thinking to sell them all and get one of these. The idea is that this can do the sounds of them all.... aside perhaps from the chambered sound of the ES347.... am I crazy or correct?? Thanks
Hey, @JonIsJustTooLoud. Loved this demo … as I love all of the demos you do. I have a Sire S7 FM and am considering selling it in order to purchase a Doheny V12. But I don't want to liquidate my Strat-style guitar-a nice one, at that-if the V12 won't cover that single-coil ground nicely. What are your thoughts? Do you think I won't miss my S7 once I have the V12?
Hey Jon! Can u explain the toggle positions once again? how do they work? Looking forward to buy one, but there's a lot of misinformation in forums. Thanks!
Hi Jon, I've been very interested in this guitar, as it hits all the things I need, (single/humbucker split, trem arm, offset, bass roll-off) but I'm curious what the neck finish feels like. Is it glossy? Is it a satin finish? I really love satin finishes like on the Fender American Pro series guitars. Let me know when you get a chance. Thanks!
@@garettoverstreet I'm waiting for my CLF Doheny as I write this! It was supposed to come today but I think the road got snowed out. :( Anyway, now Sweetwater / G&L has raised the price of this guitar to 1,900.00 and changed the name to"Fullerton Deluxe Doheny V12" and changed the wording of all the descriptions. I called Sweetwater and it is the exact same guitar. But in the description of the neck they say "a vintage tint satin finish to truly combine old school vibes with modern playability", so I'm pretty sure I'll have a satin finish on the neck, even though I bought the 2021 "CLF Research" version. I hope! PS: They still have the CLF versions available for 1,800.00 and a few demos for under 1,650.00.
YES, single coil is an option with the switches. Not sure why Jon answered "no". The 3-way switches for each pickup are as follows: Up - humbucker in series (traditional HB sound). Middle - single coil tap Down - humbucker in parallel (sounds like a fatter single coil to me) The Doheny V12 has a ton of different sounds available. The single coil taps are the best I've ever tried. They sound like a REALLY good single coil.
Does the fullerton deluxe doheny have a lot of hum? I hear the pickups are just like the fender jazzmaster. I would imagine this guitar, the V12, doesn't have any hum from the pickups. I'm looking to buy one of them. If you get a chance let me know. Thanks so much.
It all depends on your settings.. if you are using high gain, there will be hum no matter what guitar you are using. On the clean mode, it’s is quiet ✌️❤️
If money were no object, I would buy the V12, the Skyhawk and the Espada. So help me guitar master. What are the differences between the 3? Thank you sir.
I got one of these and none of the pickup poles line up with strings. Is that how yours is, can’t tell from video. Needless to say mine is being returned.
I don't like the Jaguar or Jazzmaster, I am more a "Gibson Guy" (Les Paul, 335, Flying V, SG), but DAMN this guitar is beautiful! Classy stuff. By the way: I love the intro song. Do you wrote and produced it?
@@JonIsJustTooLoud No, the part where you played is awesome too, but I meant the track that starts at 0:09. It's more like chill-out/ lounge music, but I can see you recording that style too :)
Please note that guitar's weight is 4kg and not 40kg...my bad!
@ 11.38 I was right the 1st time round...it has 15 variations!
Best G&L demos on TH-cam.
