Dale Hyatt fixed me up with a G&L Broadcaster in 1986. Me, a simple kid at the time. I've still got his business card (and the guitar as well). What a guy!
I'm so glad G&L is going back to some of their original aesthetics. I love the big dots. I do like the hook headstocks, but I prefer the early smooth look. I never understood why some people hate G&L headstocks. There are worse designs out there... Paul Reed Smith, I'm lookin' at you. You should be ashamed.
@@tiki_trashI don't even think prs headstock is that bad. But yea I kinda like the g&l headstock.. not as much as I like fenders tho, especially the tele. Love it
Those are beautiful guitars Dave and they do give that late 70's vibe, especially the burst. I own a very nice C.L.F. Skyhawk, so I am very close to having the P/U, electronics, and hardware set up that these offer, but I can't help drooling over the thought of adding another "inspired piece" of G&L to my guitar rack. I always think of the C.L.F. line as being equivalent to other builders "custom shop" pieces. The quality of build and thoughtful appointments are so good and the sounds are unbeatable, I'm sure that Dale Hyatt, who is renowned in the industry would be very pleased indeed with the vision and work you put into the new C.L.F. Research S-500.
You say you were trying for the vibe of the 70's and 80's for the shape, the headstock, the tuners, the bridge, etc. Can we keep that going, can I pay in 1970 or 1980's dollars? Allright, it was worth a try, I'll keep saving up.
I play guitar but was asked to fill in for a bass player for a year. I bought a G&l LB 100 Deluxe p bass. Love this thing! So now I'm wanting an American G&l guitar. There is a S500 in a local music store for $2300. Is this normal because i see them for less every where else. If its a decent price someone let me know.
@@christopherbeaton8047 I've had a Sugar Pine Legacy for eight years - it's a nice guitar. it's light and has good sustain. It was an option order in 2014. I can't see any reason why it wouldn't be good with an ASAT.

Love that you guys used the better headstock on this one :)

Hi Dave, That baby looks so cool & sounds great 👍. Stay safe and well and keep Rocking. Signed John Gregory Zepbass from Munster Indiana.
Always something interesting coming from G&L! That guitar is gorgeous and sounds brilliant!
Awesome this is a great video Dave!
Johnny Gomez... Very nice playing

Great sounding machine.
That really is a beautiful guitar. It has mojo built into every square millimeter of the design. You did good, G&L. You did really good. 🙃
🙂😉😊😌🥳
I have an S500 Fullerton Deluxe and now I am interested in this CLF model. The neck is I guess lacquered. Does it feel sticky? Thanks
Very cool Dave

Love that mocha
Great guitar...
Neat but I like the current (old) Skyhawk shape and pickguard more.
It's not a Skyhawk though. Completely different guitars
Why Okoume? Look fantastic, but I always wonder why manufacturers use softer woods like okoume, basswood or poplar for more expensive instruments.
I agree. Basswood and okoume are too soft for a guitar. Might as well make guitars out of balsa wood 😕
What do you think about pine ASAT?
