  • In this travel video guide to Quebec City, I travel around Quebec City including its historic Old Town (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), stop in at the famed Ice Hotel where visitors spend the night on ice beds, and explore the Winter Carnival, the biggest winter carnival in the world that attracts over 600,000 people a year.
I finish up the Winter Carnival by watching a night parade and partying it up at a nighttime outdoor snow rave.

That's why US tourists love it. They feel like they are in Europe without the 8 hout flight and the 6 hour jet lag.

I'm from Vancouver, but lived in Quebec City for a couple of years. I actually got a job at Le lapin sauté when it first opened. The brand new staff were getting the grand tour of the new restaurant by the manager. She was showing us the espresso machine, when the only other anglophone apart from me piped up and asked, "C'est quoi la recette, déjà?". I was embarrassed cos it was such a dumb question; any server knows how to make a café latté and he was giving us anglos a bad name.

My Spanish teacher showed us your videos about Chile and Argentina, and now I can't stop watching. I was particularly drawn to this video because I live twelve miles from the Vermont/Quebec border, and it's so cool to see all this happening where I could go to see within a day.

Next year for our Extended French trip at my school, we're going to Quebec and I'm so excited bc I asked my mom last year and she said that I could go bc her dream was to go there so she wants me to experience it but we have to start saving up from now bc it's $700 to go on the trip. All my friends are going as well and we're already planning everything. My friend's birthday is also during the trip so we're going to celebrate ourselves somewhere around Quebec. WE CAN'T WAIT!!!

    • @CrescentGrizzlySlash

Cylkree Vartae Hi! It was spectacular, but pricey but that's more my reckless mistakes. I spent close to $2000 and though I still had enough money left in the end I probably would have spent different if it was these days... OK I wrote some of this stuff down sporadically while I was there. Flight there was $600 United Airlines, no delays. Be sure to grab some travel maps immediately when you get to Québec while at the airport. I ordered a taxi which was around $60 driving for 15 minutes to my hotel. I checked in at a Best Western, 330 Rue de la Couronne, Ville de Québec, for half a day but checked out since I happened to have a family member there (who btw laughed his head off when he found out I took that cab cause I'm such a dope) and he took me to his condo so that's how I got to see around easier for the rest of the time.
Mostly I was in and around Upper Town and Ville de Québec. Beautiful skyline at night. The city isn't flat, it rises and dips a lot depending on where you travel and you can see a lot of buildings high in the distance.
You may like a travel specialist if you want, there's tour guides like Tours Voir Québec or Tours By Locals Québec. Reason you may want that is because they can translate French for you. Some people speak and understand English there, but its mostly French. But if you can speak French it'll be an easier experience I'd guess. Anyways, real friendly folks!
I recommend bring warm clothes and boots of course cause when I got there it was indeed freezing cold in the morning and fortunately I had layered with a couple sweaters and a down coat in advance. Up there they get that upbreeze from the St. Lawrence and the closer you get to it the icier it feels. I'm from Texas! Takes me a bit to adjust lol!
What I remember most Upper Town was awesome looking at night. Walking around it was even more bustling then what this video showed I thought. Other than a boulevard I rode back and forth on the whole time I was there, a lot of the buildings were pretty small and clumped together but it was real clean. Real European looking of course. Slim alleys but that's where all the good shops were. They have some really great chocolate, just mention for 'Chocolats Favoris' shop which is where I went to my second night. I got truffles and almond clusters. It was crowded when I went in though I figured it was due to the season. Now there's apparently several but I went to the one at 1480 Rue Provancher, Ville de Québec. www.chocolatsfavoris.com/
I also was taken to this seafood restaurant called Bâton Rouge. This was 2450 Boulevard Laurier. www.batonrouge.ca/fr/restaurant/ste-foy/#map
Where I spent most of my money was the really big and bright and crazy crowded when I got there Laurier Québec mall: 2700, boulevard Laurier Bureau 1000. www.laurierquebec.com/en/stores/map/
I didn't go see the Hotel De Glace Ice Hotel because I was told it was open in January not December and I left before January, but it's apparently at address: 9530, rue de la Faune.
Those were my fondest. It was a great place.

On average, Quebec City receives over two feet of snow more than Boulder, and six feet more than Denver. The Forêt Montmorency an hour north of QC gets 3-4 feet more snow than Vail and Aspen.

I am originally from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area (now living in Dallas) and was wondering will you do a travel log on MSP or Big D any time soon?

Social Injustice Exposer in Quebec is in Action!
Rich over Poor and Majority over Minority is happening in Montreal, Quebec, Canada! A landlord, a big company (*** Pro* Inc.) in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, delivered a notice to a tenant by bailiff merely 14 hours before (actually, the notice was delivered at 19:45 and the inspection was scheduled next morning at 10:30 a.m. ) a so-called “inspection” without any explanation or legal foundation whereas they have been harassing the tenant by making noise on top of the apartment for weeks, in the name of renovation without giving any prior notice! FYI, they have cases in the Regie-du-logement (rental board) against the tenant and that may explain everything.
The landlord has been taking so much advantage of the tenant, now they are even trying to take the police’s job, to conduct an illegal search without a WARRANT!
Here is the voice from the massive ordinary people: Hillarious behaviours pissed off the American people; the EU pissed off British people “by stealth, by deception”, and it will be the Quebec administration’s turn in a short period if you keep acting in Somebody-over-Nobody way!
-律政混混, IForYou, Tumblr blogger (English/Chinese) and 新浪博客博主, voice for little people, ordinary people and minority people in Quebec, Canada!

Go to hell. You don't know the économic and cultural reality of Canada. I don't know were you come from, but I have and idea!

Wow, that's a crazy good festival. I heard good things about Montreal's Osheaga too. Maybe do two in a row? I would actually pay $70 just to see Stevie Wonder. Guns n' Roses? Maybe in 1994.

Hey guys, I live in Brazil and I want to move to Canada... Is Quebec City a good city to live in? It looks wonderful. And yes, i'm willing to learn french to go there if it's worth it

Hi Gabriel, I'll let others reply to this, but I'd also suggest Montreal for its larger size, as well as its large diversity (just something to consider). There's also a large Brazilian population in Montreal (if you're ever looking for some home comforts).

Amazing!!!!! I'm having lots of problems to organize my trip to Canada next year. Can you help me with that?! I'd really appreciate, because I know nothing about it yet. By the way, do you have plans to come to Brazil and make a video about one of the northeast cities or even Rio de Janeiro? That would be really nice. :)
    Thanks a lot in advance!

Beautiful City, best in summer if you don't like the cold. Unless they were cheating with sugar/maple flavoring.
Maple syrup on snow is awesome. Visit St. Eustache QC for maple syrup adventures, lots of food, lots of dancing and music and lots of fun. Winter Carnivals are fun, but don't dress to impress, dress for extreme cold and wind. Especially if you're drinking alcohol which will decrease body temperature.

    • @juliansmith4295

+PeRoXX GoLDee 50%? Anglophones are only 14% in Montréal, and 67% of them also speak French. Therefore, the vast majority of people in Montréal are francophones or can at least speak French.

Julian Smith Not anymore, since 2001, French population in Montréal is going down very quickly, unfortunately. But it was the case in 2000-2005, French dominated, but not anymore. Also I said AT LEAST 50%
