Mozart - Horn Concerto No. 2 in E flat, K. 417 [complete]

- Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Horn Concerto No. 2 in E-flat major, K. 417 was completed in 1783. The work is in three movements:
I. Allegro maestoso
II. Andante
III. Rondo Più allegro 6/8
Mozart's good-natured ribbing of his friend is evident in the manuscript inscription "W. A. Mozart took pity on Leitgeb, ass, ox and fool in Vienna on 27 May 1783." This is one of two horn concerti of Mozart to omit bassoons. It is also one of Mozart's two horn concerti to have ripieno horns (horns included in the orchestra besides the soloist), though in contrast to K. 495, the solo horn in this one does not duplicate the first ripieno horn's part in the tutti passages.

ENJOY!!!! :D
Man has this piece grown on me. My first time listening to it a few months back I thought it was just "pretty good". Now it's probably one of my favorite pieces he's written.
0:07 Allegro Maestoso
6:27 Andante
9:43 Rondo
Have not heard these concertos for so long. Used to have them on LPs. No longer. Forgot how beautiful and joyful they were. So very glad to hear them again.
Lovely. I always enjoy listening to Mozart's Horn Concerto pretty much. Nicely played.

There is such sweetness here, and playfulness, too! This performance brings these traits out so very well.
learning to play this right now on my horn
logcabinElectric I’m doing my grade six and I thought I would have a go at the allegro and it’s way tooo hard for me

I read it: learning to play this right, now I'm horn x'D
Mozart makes life so beautiful
And this is the Guy who's into Scat!
this first movement makes me smile so much
If you are wondering who is playing piece, it is Peter Damm playing with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields orchestra. Sir Neville Marriner is the conductor.
Hi Collin Johnson : Thank you
Thanks - superb!
Thank you!
Für mich ist das 2. Hornkonzert Mozarts das absolut schönste
wow it has been so long since I listened to this I completely forgot the title yet the melody still remains in my mind and finally found it
Super komponiert Wolferl und super gespielt !!!
This concerto is my childhood but Mozart’s bassoon concerto is my favorite
Edit (May 14th): This concerto made me realize how beautiful the French horn can be.
What interpretation of the bassoon concerto do you know?
Cause I never found one that I like.
9:44 This is where the best part starts.

FANTASTIC.
ABSOLUTEMENT.
I AGREE.
Did anyone else notice that at 2:33 and 5:51, the theme of Mozart's previous composition Twelve Variations on "Ah vous dirai-je, Maman" or Twinkle Twinkle Little Star shows up? So clever! :)
Yes
you wanted to hear beautiful music my good friend
@Regina Head das denke ich auch
Wolf gang Amadeus Mozart you doing more beautiful music still? They are great in little einsteins!!
Bravo! Meraviglioso! Grazie!
Bravi!
I came here after listening to the horn concerto k 412, which sounded so trite I just couldnt believe it was really Mozart. I did some research and there are others who agree. K 417 on the other hand is quite clearly Mozart and is excellent music. It's not often Mozart makes me laugh out loud though; I really did a rofl at 11:23. The first violins are surely having a giggle? It has to be deliberate :)
. Actually the coda is hilarious as well: those zaney trills around 12:44, the false endings, and the galloping final section. Poking fun at his soloist maybe?
This always brings me peace during turbulent times.
French horn is always beautiful But only Mozart is sure to bring tears of joy to my eyes!
Roy Nash For me, it’s tied with the bassoon for the most beautiful instrument
So beautiful!
9:45 i love this song especially with the schinbrunn palace as the backdrop.
It’s beautiful! It’s wonderful!❤❤

Same. I even thought that the version on there, which was in E-flat major, was the official version but I guess Disney didn’t want to get sued for using that music w/o permission

What a super piece of music this man was a genius who has never been surpassed.
È incommentabile tanto è sublime!
In due occasioni il Solista ruba qualcosa (di quasi impercettibile) nel solfeggiare. Comunque esecuzione e interpretazione eccellenti.
È una gioia continua…
00:00 Allegro maestoso (1st movement)
06:25 Andante (2nd movement)
09:42 Rondo Più allegro (3rd movement)
Great!!
beautiful
The ending is just beautiful..
The second movement is heavenly.
The first IMO is the best one.
I really like this one!
9:43 Little Einsteins, anyone?
Yeah!
@@anniefano7 Me too!
Very special soumd and good musicinship . I have enjoyed it .
9:45 is lovely...
It does a little bit. As a person with perfect pitch, I'd say this recording was played right between E flat & E. So 25 cents higher than written.
Please update your information. This hornist is Peter Damm, Sir Neville Marriner conducting The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields. It was recorded May 9, 1989.
When I listening i can fly😍😍
Un concert sublim, un geniu nemuritor!

Absolute favorite way this is played
This player knows Mozart's horn sound like a Brazilian knows soccer or a Canadian knows hockey. The orchestra also knows what's up.
Moart never played the cor himself... but he was able to make the music for the cor.
@@g.mo.5483 One must keep in mind that a horn or a trumpet is not a musical instrument, it's a practical instrument used in music.
@@g.mo.5483 But Mozart didn't have to play the horn, he knew how the horn should sound because of his astounding imagination.

Musica del cielo
Perfection.
I want to mention that Joseph Leutgeb (or, according to Mozart, "Leitgeb") would have played both the solo horn part and the first ripieno horn in the premiere of this concerto and in KV 495. It was ordinary for a concerto soloist to have a role in the orchestra in Mozart's and even Beethoven's time. Piano soloists would play continuo roles in tutti passages; that is, improvising chords as filler.
I have this solo for solo ensemble on my horn!
POV: You're a Little Einsteins fan and you came for 9:43
Exactly, Little Einsteins brought me here.
I heard it on some random video and decided to give the whole thing a listen… originally heard it on Little Einstein’s though 🥺 the memories 🥹

if there is a god ,Mozart probably sits next to him
Of course ! Mozart Amadeus. His name says it all. Ama Deus means He loves God, Amor in latin means love. Deus in Latin, from Theos Greek.
Moz Art. Moz means Muse, Music, and art , obvious.
Wolfgang, maybe a band of wolves, probably Amadeus was among of a band, a gang of wolves, who killed him.
Later the other names.
To me he is the brightest musician composer ever.
He is God's Chosen, therefore he must be playing and composing for God in their realm, Heaven.
And if there is a god, he sits next to Bach. ;P
Probably? We know W.A. all gods are sitting next to him.
@beta tester 21
Salieri was kind of a mediocre professional.
Sorry. He had something of course. I have listend him a little.
But if the movie is right, Amadeus talent is much higher because he was composing in his head, and did not need to change notes and the rest around, just transcribe into paper.
That is the greatest.
I am shure Bach was not that bright, even though he is the Musicians predilect.
