OMG, this really, really worked!! My daughter could barely talk, and three minutes later doing the exercise, she can talk clearly. She has to sing tomorrow. Thank you Dr. Berg.

      Eric Berg
Dr. Berg, how are you doing? Me, I have been better. I had a problem where I was confronted by a neighbor over a year and a half ago. He came up to me and hit me. Because I couldn't defend myself properly. I yelled, bitched him out so bad that I lost my voice for 2 days. When it came back and I picked up my guitar and went on with my playing and singing I found out that I can't hit the notes or utilize my voice the way I did before. I'm on disability for depression and I have medicaid. When I went to the ENT and was scoped I was told my vocal chords are slamming shut and there's a hoarseness in my voice. I have originals that I sing which I can't do now. I also have musical goals and my joy of singing especially The Beatles is stifled. I was told that I needed to see a speech /voice therapist. I just found out that medicaid doesn't pay for any kind of physical therapy anymore. I spoke to one therapist awhile back and she mentioned something about exercises where you hold your breath and so forth. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! MY JOY AND CREATIVITY IS AFFECTED DEEPLY.

Does this work if you have GERD? I have had pnd or what I thought was pnd for 40 years and had to give up singing because it got so bad. My throat goes crazy within a minute of eating certain foods, I am vegan, don't eat dairy of course, no soda, just water. I eat fruit and veg mostly with plant based protein. Frustrating!!!!!

No. And it won’t help for any inflammation or vibration injury, which are most of them. Might make your neck feel better.

I have had laryngitis (absolutely NO voice) for 5 months. Two Doctors could not figure out why. I found this video at 9:56 AM. I did exactly as Dr. Berg said and at 10:01 AM, I had my full voice. No rasp, no hoarseness. Amazing! Thank you!

Karen Cole WOW! Amazing! But did it last?? Meaning, did your hoarseness come back? Or was it gone for good?? I've had vocal issues for 4 years (it's gotten worse now) and no amount of vocal therapy or ENT visits are helping. :( I don't think the doctor's really know what's going on tbh. :( I would LOVE to have my real voice back again. :-*(

I blew out my throat this weekend from yelling too loudly... I found this because I have a singing competition tomorrow. I have kept (mostly) silent for 3 days now, and my throat was still irritated. I tried this, and feel an immediate difference! It was hard to do it on my own because I couldn’t find the pressure point, so I did it in multiple spots and it seemed to help! Thank you! 😍❤️

This tip instantly allowed me to sing my 3 octave range without the cracking and squeaking that I'd become accustomed to. I still have to clear my throat which is VERY annoying, but I'm thankful for a miraculous improvement in under 5 minutes! Thank you so much, Dr. Berg!

I'm a college music student. I've been trying to get rid of whatever infection is living in my throat for the past week. Upon waking up in the mornings, I'm dealing with a dense green mucus and what feels like an obstruction that keeps air from moving quickly. This technique has temporarily made it possible to use a larger range of my voice. Mid terms are coming up for my sight singing class, and I couldn't be more thankful for this information.

Dr. Berg, this is amazing. I had throat seizures act up in a performance numerous times the show I did last night because I had to sing in a Casino where smoking is allowed EVERYWHERE and I am horribly allergic. I had been on vocal rest most of today because I have another show tonight at a club and I've been nervous all day about it since my voice felt "shot" from last night and my body's reaction to smoke. My husband just did this on my neck and I was able to start singing without as much scratchiness immediately after. We're going to apply this a few more times before tonight's show. THANK YOU! I love a natural remedy too!!!! I will be telling my other vocalist/musician friend about this - especially those who have been taking steroids, etc.

My high school doctor was cast in a musical and came down with Laryngitis for her last show. She was devastated. I found this link and gave the exercise a shot. We did not see an instant cure, just a small improvement, but I repeated the treatments three times over the course of the morning before she had to sing. To our surprise, when she came back on stage she had her voice back well enough to sing most of her notes. Her speaking voice was mostly back. People watching the lay had no idea that she had lost her voice. It was really an incredible recovery. The director of the play and music director were amazed and asked me to share the video link so they have it for the future. This is really a wonderful treatment to have because not much else seems to work to restore voice loss.

This actually has helped. I have wondered why I had a sore neck. I never cease to be amazed at the wonders of massage. I believe that generally muscles control the bones, and bones can indicate a lot of issues. Chiropractors have minimal effects long term, because the muscles are the real problem, and if they are not loose, then the bones and all they effect will stay the problem.

Since I'm not used to singing so much my throat got really hoarse really fast. I could barely talk with my voice cracking. I did this once while watching the video, I might have even done it a bit wrong, but I can sing as good as ever now. My throat still feels irritated but that's probably due to lack of practice doing it to myself and because it was my first time ever trying it. Thank you so much Dr. Berg!

    Amazing!!
I had this laryngitis last week with my flu! It was a horrible feeling .my dr did not give any anti biotics , so u can imagine hw awful it was for me!!! It's better now as I was told it settles on it's own! Let me share my mom's therapy with u!
I took a few drops of clarified butter and massaged the throat & neck area with it for a couple of mins gently before bedtime. I was much better the next morn..
I don't know the scientific reason behind it but it wrkd for me! And I feel much better now! Incidentally I came across ur video and thought of sharing my idea!!

This just seems to me as a treatment more on a natural healing side of medical practice,
but I have problems with throat so often that I have to try to find a real solution other that antibiotics.
Dr. Berg what does too sensitive throat imply?
Could the problem be just stress?

This actually worked for me! How my voice loss or occurred but it is accompanied by mucus and congestion. I tried other acupressure points x home remedies that didn't work all too well or only temporary fix. I do not have the massage and I found it a little difficult/uncomfortable to do it on myself but it worked! I adjusted the pressure as well as the points on neck I was pressing several times. I tilted my head back as I was pressing x rested back of my head on my hand. Pain completely gone; I tested my voice for hoarseness x clarity while singing x it has greatly improved! Thank you! Thinking about ordering tool because it would be so much easier to apply pressure. Is there any restriction on how many times to do this?

To determine if the patient has laryngitis you need to visualize the vocal folds with videostroboscopy or at minimum a laryngeal mirror exam. Without visualization you do not know whether you're dealing with laryngitis, paralysis, or something called Muscle Tension Dysphonia (MTD, or "functional dysphnonia). Patients with MTD are effectively holding the vocal folds in a very tense,whisper-like position, resulting either in dysphonia or no voice at all (aphonia). The problem can start during an episode of stress or laryngitis, which is why you, the patient, and doctors without adequate visualization equipment and diagnostic skills may think the patient still has laryngitis and prescribe steroids or ABX. Visualization of the vocal folds would reveal healthy vocal folds that seem stuck in a whisper configuration, not laryngitis or paralysis. A variety of strategies including throat clearing, crying, manipulation of the larynx and neck and other approaches can break the patient out of this habituated internal laryngeal posture/tension, which is why what you're doing here can indeed work. But the explanation you have- that these patients have laryngitis or paralysis, and the mechanism (that your neck gadget improves the immune system) demonstrates a lack of understanding of voice disorders at both a very basic clinical level and deeper scientific level. Also, opera singers are not large b/c of steroids: steroids are prescribed only very occasionally for vocal issues and not a way of life with eventual weight gain.

Wow... so, I came here because I've had an on-and-off chronic cough for about nine months. This has been accompanied by semi-regular sinus pain. Stubborn male that I am, my wife finally talked me into going to an ENT. He showed me a live video of my vocal cords which were red and inflammed and prescribed both a proton pump inhibitor and a prescription allergy nasal spray. Both DID go a long way toward reducing my coughing. But not 100%.
So I figured, hmm... maybe I'm just straining my vocal cords when I talk or maybe there's some other kind of irritation there. I just tried this and already I feel like the longtime tickle in my throat is reduced, just after doing this for about 30 seconds. It's like that feeling you get when you stretch a muscle and relief a cramp. There might be something to this...

I'm a singer but I have acid reflux so my voice is horsed all the time. I've tried remedies to reduce it and it works for a few hours. I took Prilosec and Pepcid for a while too, but then we later learned that they could cause liver cancer. So we had to stop. I got an acid reflux guide from one of my doctors and they seemed to help. But is there a way to make it go away forever? I hate going around in circles trying to get rid of it for good. Do you have any tips for that? I'd really appreciate them.

    • @gravejames7221
      @gravejames7221 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Probiotics, apple cider vinegar and betaine HCL supplements. As well as going low carb diet for a while. The body cannot digest all carbs so small carb amounts actually remain which bad bacteria feeds on in our gut which after they feed on they release gas that puts pressure on out stomach causing forced acid to come up or low stomach acid in general can cause reflux because the small amount of scid splashes around trying to compensate and causes a similar issue. You need a healthy stomach acid level to signal your stomach valve to close tight stopping acid from coming up. All of these things are hand in hand and anti acid meds, literally can make things worse. Stop taking them, look up recipe for anti reflux smoothie, put some apple cider vinegar in and use those betaine hcl supplements in it too drink one everyday after eating

Just wanted to ask how do we know exactly where to put pressure and what if we put pressure at the wrong place ? Hope that wont have a negative effect !

Recently lost my voice due to a terrible case of laryngitis. I ended up needing a steroid shot bc I couldn't even swallow an Aspirin. I've been slowly gaining my voice back but there's been swelling in my mixed voice/bridge and general hoarseness and it's been a big pain in the ass. One session of this and I was able to smoothly release into my upper register without squeaking or going mute. Thanks doc!
