Thanks for having us on, Patrick!
As soon as I read the title I knew I would love this conversation. I am absolutely in love with the 5th gen RAM HD trucks, but I've always been really annoyed by the fact that they still run dinosaur 6-speed transmissions! That stuff should have been phased out a long time ago! And interestingly, aftermarket upgrades for the 6.5L Turbo Diesels is exactly what I've been researching basically every day now for a while. The liftpumps on OBS GM trucks are notorious for ruining other key components just by being way underdimensioned. So FASS's solution is definitely what I've been considering. Been looking at a particular '95 Chevy K2500 (8-lug) and let me just say it's difficult to think of anything else lately... Those 6.5L diesel V8's have such an amazing classic truck sound. Almost like a big rig I6, but they're V8's with that sweet exhaust rumble. And with the right upgrades, even GM's grubby fingers can't prevent the Detroit 6.5L TD from realizing it's full potential!
I wish I could have got your guest on the phone when I called fass for a complaint or concern that I had with a titanium 165 that I bought. I talked to four different people one of them was nice as pie but I could never get him back on the phone. The other three Representatives all but blatantly told me I was full of it and that there is no way that their pump could be exhibiting the symptoms that mine was in fact was. They finally agreed to take it back but then gave me a very rude Stern warning that if they found nothing wrong with it there would be a $35 bench test fee. Don't get me wrong their fuel pumps are top-notch and well worth the money but after buying three of them for different rigs that I've owned I will never touch their product again based solely on their customer service
Thx for the info dude
I unfortunately had a similar experience. I get that they probably get a lot of DIY nitwits that call with self-imposed problems, but the diesel-bro mentality was more than I could handle. Getting a well-informed technician on tech support to help me diagnose was near impossible. Stop telling me about the daggum bucket test.
The 8 speed should already be behind the Cummins I saw a trx running 9’s with one should be plenty strong for any emissions on diesel
Not hating love the content, but if you would put timestamps id watch way more of the videos.
They usually do. Takes a little bit of effort so can't have it all, all the time.
Those new trucks are coming out with more power but along with that, more weight. Totally negates the wow factor of the added power. There are people in Australia adapting the ZF 8HP90 behind the 6.7 Cummins already.
Great information, looking forward to putting a Fass on my 17 Cummins. I have issues in the Illinois winter with my stock pump and filters.
