This is the best video I've seen on the pudendal artery and nerve. You clearly describe its course and its relations to important structures and destination in a very concise, easy to understand way. Thank you.
fantastic video, not just helpful for lovers of anatomy, but also for residents and consultants of ObGyn, Urology, UroGynec, Colorectal and "Pelvic Surgeons" at large.. great video. Thx for this.
I have pudendal entrapment. This is the best explanation I have ever seen and I can share this with other people and the link on my blog. Can you clarify, where the nerve root (or the name of the nerve root) that enervates the vestibule of the vaginal specifically? I have vestibulitis that affects the opening of the vagina, not the labia or clitoris, and am after 12 years of conservative treatments considering surgery. I want to make sure they are releasing everything that is appropriate. The name of the nerve root would be of great help! Thank you for posting this!
@@abhishekmaurya1642 I did not have surgery for pudendal entrapment as planned. It improved with muscle relaxants and self massage. I did get a vestibulectomy and was healed of the vaginal pain I had.
Good afternoon Dr. James. I absolutely love your videos. The only addition I would like to see are possible clinical correlates to the anatomy. I personally find it easier to remember structures when I can associate a function or dysfunction with them. E.g. the only reason I remember the Vieussens annulus in the heart is because we were taught that it's a protective collateral circulation that can compensate for cardiac circulation only if heart failure develops slowly, and not in rapidly developing heart failure, because it takes time for these vessels to become patent. Just an idea. : )
omg I just went over the whole perineum videos the pouches and everything Is now soooo much clear to me thank you soooo much God bless you! we need more amazing explanations like this to make the complex anatomy so straightforward and simple
Thanks. Very informative video. I guess my question to you is, how can one determine the exact location of of a impeded nerve(s) along S1, S2 & S3? If by way of MRI, what would be the best position / angle, and should patient be standing on lying for better imaging of inflammation?
Good day! Help me out sir! I got confused with the bulbocavernosus artery, why didn't it pierce the perineal membrane and cross through it to supply the bulbocarvernosus muscle, that I believe, should be in the superficial perineal pouch? Or this bulb that you're referring to is a different thing?
Dear Prof Pickering, great video, but would you please clarify if the bulb of penis in the superficial perineal pouch and not the deep? Or I might be missing something.
you say that the internal pudendal exits via the lesser sciaitic foramen however ive read elsewhere that it exits the pelvis via the greater sciatic foramen, please can you clarify? Excellent videos, thanks
@Katherine Moore It enters the Pelvis through grater sciatic foramen, winds around the ischial spine and leaves the Pelvis through lesser sciatic foramen to enter the Pudental/Alcock's canal!!!

Just saying that these videos are helping me get through the last bit of anatomy as an M1. Really good!

Muy ilustrativo, para conocer la anatomía del piso pélvico y orientarse en la aplicación del bloqueo de nervio pudendo.
Fidel Victor Mascareño Gutierrez hola no se nada de ingles me podrias ayudar
Thanks❤👏

Katherine Moore I’ve seen both so I suppose it depends on the person (as with most things in anatomy)
@Katherine Moore It enters the Pelvis through grater sciatic foramen, winds around the ischial spine and leaves the Pelvis through lesser sciatic foramen to enter the Pudental/Alcock's canal!!!
Do the pudendal nerves exist on both sides of the pelvis or are they just on one side? If on one side, which side in men?
Thanks 😀
I broke this vain sould I go get surgery? The deep a is the one that pulled apart
U have done great Job 👍 #JustPerfect
