The fact that the female abuse victim is being revealed as the true villain all along, while her male abuser is being revealed as the victim in a show that was SUPPOSED to be about the exploitation and treatment of women in the music industry and Hollywood in general should tell you a lot about the two men who wrote and created this show.
Yea, this show was just a massive fail. It didn't do anything it wanted to do in the beginning. They really made the victim be the true master manipulator... Like... Their first mistake was firing the woman that was the director, and replacing her with SAM LEVINSON.😢

It's Hollywood dude. You guys are looking for a hero in this story and there is NONE. That's the point of the show and no one seems to grasp that. Every single time someone shows a moment of humanity they lose. From Dyanne telling Jocelyn about her single, to Tedros ripping up the money out of "love", just to crawl back and be pimped himself, Rob trying to care for Jocelyn and care for a "fan" just to have his career completely destroyed and not only his team and employer but his ENTIRE fanbase turns on him, which Nikki points out since she knows full and well being a peice of shit herself, and when Laya leaves it's more of a symbol of how the humanity in Jocelyn's life has completely died, while at the same time she's the biggest and most successful she's ever been. You guys think Destinty is supposed to be this great character but really she's just protecting her investment. AGAIN, There is no hero in the story.
The biggest problem with this show isn't the show, it's people who have no business watching it with zero media literacy bringing their personal politics into a fucking fictional show that clearly is just illustrating how fucked up, psychopathic, and opportunistic Hollywood is, there's is no room for morals or humanity, which explains why you all cry over it, yet still keep your eyes glued to the screen and ears hanging on every word, which itself, is extremely ironically poetic, because that's really what the show is all about. It's about your idols and the side of them we all know exists but throw a Disney filter over and pretend doesn't exist. Now that you've seen a fictional portrayal of a very real world, you're sickened, but did you ever stop watching and help fund it? Nope.. blame yourself, because at the end of the day you find this in real life and funded the show that gave you a glimpse of it albeit fictional, still very real. You just can't stand how accurate it really is. You got a redemption arc, but it wasn't the bullshit fairytale that's marketed to you on a daily basis so you don't wanna believe it's so it's "bad writing" nah, it's just the uncomfortable truth you don't wanna believe.

If you're answer is no, then how do you know for certain that depiction we got of it we got in this show is "very real" how was that a redemption arc? He never apologized for any of his actions, just came back like a flower expecting everything to be handed to him AND IT FUCKING WAS! He got what he wanted, Joss, but in no way does that redeem him. It such a cheap cop out to try and redeem a character by just trying to make the audience believe that he was the victim the whole time because the true victim was actually the villainous mastermind all along. It's not the plot twist they thought it would be because it makes no fucking sense how did Joss know that she was going to meet a cult leader pimp fresh out of jail that would want to recruit her? why would she fabricate the lie of her mom beating her with her hairbrush? how do you fake years of trauma? plus it seemed like there where witnesses to the mom's abuse so what the fuck? It not because of a lack of "media literacy" that people don't understand this show, it's because it's a really bad and pointless show.

The concept of the show is interesting however I don't believe that Sam Levinson had the skills to pull off such a complex show in just 5 episodes. There are shows like black mirror that pull of the same shit that Levinson was clearly trying to do, in literally 40-90 minutes, and in better ways. I've seen your replies to other peoples comments and your passion for this show is very intriguing but your arguments are lacking. At the core the main problem with this show is its pacing and story depiction. Plain and simple. The show is truly just another mediocre show, yet it was marketed as "The show of the summer" by Sam Levinson, and I think thats what a lot of people have problems with.

The fact Sam decided to write a fake rape accusation into the plot when this show is suppose to be based off of the very real exploitation that happens to female entertainers just shows you what he thinks about women. I hate how they tried to add a pseudo-feminist twist at the end by making Jocelyn come up on top so abruptly. This show is worse than the film 'The Room' because at least Tommy Wiseau had the excuse of not having 75 million dollar budget and dozens of big industry names backing it.

The direction towards the end was a fail. They honestly could've lead with her manipulating the people around her because of the people abusing her would make sense but to bring him back after she made a big deal about kicking him out of her life just ruined the show in my opinion. The weekend had main character syndrome and that was his downfall in this show.

I agree completely! People shouldn’t let their ego determine the direction of the plot. The finale made no sense. The reunion between Jocelyn and Tedros wasn’t earned. Also, I didn’t find Abel’s portrayal to be compelling enough for me to potentially watch another season with him playing the character again. I was hoping Tedros was going to die off, but it didn’t happen.
The fact is the whole segs scenes were written by male gaze and toxic masculinity explains both Abel and Sam so much💀💀💀
I'm not a person who believes that the content of an artist's work reflects their real-life character, but I do think it really sucks that Sam Levinson has made two back-to-back shows where a woman fabricates accusations of r*pe. 😒

Flat characters which motivations that are just unclear and uninteresting. Bad acting. Female's being portrayed in a unrealistic and perverted way. I am just mindblown that anything remotely close to this could even be produced and released in the first place. I get they’re trying to set up a season 2 but there’s so much left unexplained and so we gotta see what Jocelyn is really like in full detail, not just 1 episode. I feel like they should’ve stretched this out 2 more episodes to fix the pacing of the show and develop the characters better

The Dyanne situation in the 4th ep gave her a "reason" to do so. Then she destroyed him emotionally and exposed him to take over. 1. 10/10 to the costume, I lost it when I saw the thumbnail HAHAHA!
2. I honestly feel like this could have had some potential and it's sooo frustrating. If they had MUCH LESS (even zero because whyyy) nudity and explored the plots more, maybe 8 episodes total, it would have turned out good. Even The Weeknd's performance improved in that last episode imo. But how did we go from her "loving" him, finding out he knew her before (with little details to us), hating him, being the bad one and then saying he's the love of her life and showing him to the world? Like whaaaaaaaat? I felt like I missed some episodes because it was so rushed. The idea wasn't bad, the execution on the other hand was just atrocious.

this ending entirely pissed me off, its so dumb.. This show had soo much good potential which was shown with many great moments/highlights in the show … but was ruined by sam levinsons horrible writing and the weeknds bad acting.. I will literally PAY just to see the original version of what the show would’ve been with the original plot before abel & sam got ahold of the script/show.

But he's definitely got a huge appetite for social provocation that Levinson shares - The Green Inferno is about environmentalists being big dumb idiots who get eaten by cannibals, and his movie Knock Knock is about women who go out of their way to ruin the lives of married men with false accusations of sex crimes. And with the way he talks about himself and his work, it's clear he loves to be shocking and thinks really highly of his own skills.
(I would argue that, like Levinson, he is very talented in some areas but very lacking in others.)
I haven't heard anything about him being hard to work with in the same way Levinson is, but I think they share many creative interests and a similar perspective. And they are both frequently too edgy for their own good.
He looks exactly the same like in 2009. He's got good vitamins

well- after the final episode i am SO CONFUSEEED like i do'nt understand it either why she kicked him out and then all of sudden he's welcome ? Maybe the point here is that she has everyone around her in control. Tedros is nobody now, she lied to Chloe, Xander and others about opening her tour and she lied to the staff. Let's not forget about the hairbrush. She kinda planned it for the attention ? At the beginning it supposed to show a strong side of woman but ofc Abel came with Sam and changed it into the double fantasy of their so i guess this is why the end is messed up. If Abel with Sam didn't change the direction of this show, i think it'd turn out she was using them all the time, manipulated them for the fun and win.
