I mean this as a compliment but your voice reminds me a lot of Tommy Wiseau. I love this movie because ghosts and addictions are powerful. One theory is that the ghost is not at all her mother but the spirit of the drowned woman. They took too long with Mia’s first experience and the drowned woman stayed. There’s visual proof in that the ghost of Mia’s mother is wet and gets danker as it goes on.
