As I recall, the MC80 has a pretty consistent shield rating of 3900 SBD, MetaNerdzLore . The Executor gets a 96,000 SBD rating in X-Wing Alliance, meantime - but that's a very scaled down version (only four times the length of an iSD) Probably a more realistic number is 288,000 to 380,000 SBD, or more...
0:24 In the 90's computer game, "Star Wars: Rebellion," this corvette functions as a Rebel anti-Tie Fighter vessel, similar to the Lancer Frigate for the Empire.
2:05 Based on the square-cube law, increasing dimensions by 10 would increase surface area by 100x and volume by 1000. The ISD isn’t exactly a rectangular prism 10x the DP-20 in every dimension, but you can expect the volume, and thus the crew requirement, to be between 100 and 1000 times greater. The Empire’s high crew count isn’t as bad as you make it out to be. The crew density on an ISD vs a DP-20 are actually about the same. Realistically speaking, the crew density on an ISD is actually about the same as modern naval ships. The very low crew counts of Rebellion ships is more of a realistic outlier than anything else. The main problem is that Star Wars underpopulates its militaries and navies far too much that when a ship with realistic number comes up, people think it is overcrewed when in fact it should be the standard.
Fair point, but with droids being so widespread you’d think they would replace some of the more menial jobs and reduce the crew necessity by a significant amount if they were utilized most efficiently.
Definitely one of my favorite ships, and in wvery Star Wars themed rpg I have participated in, I always seek the means to bring these Corellian frigates and their larger destroyer cousins into my fleets.
@@UncleMikeDrop Ironically, the Empire isn’t overstaffed. In fact, the Empire is extremely understaffed and the Republic and Rebellion are actually hilariously understaffed to the point where they would be non-functional in reality. Based on a quick approximation, an ISD is about 128 Million cubic metres, an MC-80a is about 100M cubic metres, and for irl comparison the Nimitz-class carrier is about 400 Thousand m3. For crew, an ISD has 47,000; an MC-80a, 5,400; and the Nimitz, 5,200. For ships about 300 times the size of a Nimitz, neither of the Star War ships have anywhere near 300 times the crew of a Nimitz. The MC-80a is even worse as it carries a complement the same size as a Nimitz while being 300 times larger. Operationally, the Rebels would not even be able to use their ships at all.
5:25 Imagine walking to work and you just watch someone get flattened by an Empire insignia because of a hot shot Rebel. Wouldn't make you feel like things are changing for the better.
One of my fav Star Wars ships, I wish there were more images of it. I’m really hoping Fractal Sponge will do a render of this one. His stuff is just incredible.
I'm not sure if they're sold out or not but it seems like Geeky Grotto's website has any of the star wars sets you showed in the video which is really disappointing because I was planning on getting one of them for my friend as a present
The collapse of the empire of the empire triggered a collapse of the economy on kamino. Forcing them to take smaller contracts from criminal organizations and warlords.
Star Wars vessels are often times hilariously bad with numbers, be it volume and crew, speed or aircraft carying capacity. An ISD for example has a mass of 40 million tons and roughly 50.000 personel. A Gerald R Ford aircraft carrier has about 100.000 tons of mass and roughly 4.000 personel. This means, the ISD has about the mass of 400 of the largest aircraft carriers on earth but only 12,5 times the crew requirements. That is incredibly efficient. And mind you, the Ford Class already has a smaller crew requirement than the Nimitz predecessors. Oh, and also: an ISD only carries around 144 Tie fighters in different variants. That's only about as much as two aircraft carriers. This means, only about 200.000 tons out of the 40 million are dedicated to flight operations. That's the equivalent of battleship Bismarck carrying some scout planes.
In my head the huge imperial crew numbers is more about cutting costs. When you're recruiting pool is basically endless why spend credits on expensive automation?
Unrelated question, but does anybody in the comments think we are getting Hondo in Skelton Crew? because it's a show about Pirates made by Dave Filoni.
@@PE_Shark You're intelligent, but inexperienced. Your posting indicates 1 dimensional thinking. Volume is determined cubically . It would be more accurate to say the a ship with the same relative dimensions as the DP-20 but 1600 meters long would be about 2400 times larger. Think about how small 13 DP-20 frigates stacked end to end would be compared to a Star Destroyer.

I wonder how amazing a Star Wars movie you directed would be. If you could what would you scrap and what would you make canon and movies about?

I love this little pocket powerhouse in Empire at War. It's so good that not one of my Rebel fleets is complete without a few of these missile boys.
First thing i do. I sell all these dp20 at start up. Only eclipse is the truth.
I used them in wolf packs.
This and Buccaneers are really fun to use in packs and swarms
Oh yeah, love using these there! Those missiles really let them punch above their weight class, they’re like WWII destroyers!
@@crgkevin6542 Maybe i should give them a try. I always go in all with capitals XD But i play only cruel admiral. Everything else is boring.
At the risk of getting lynched, I like the DP-20 much better than the CR-90
Oh same here. This little booger is impressive.
I don't blame you. It's an awesome looking ship.
Correlian designs are always so unique looking

Also, the Empire had a command economy and overstaffing is pretty typical for command economies.

This thing goes hard in Empire at War
Useful in Empire At War thanks to concussion missiles, which can damage tartan patrol cruisers and capital ship hard points
Remember when in doubt, Blast the Opps with turbo lasers
Empire at war's finest.
that was the original millenium falcon
You should a vid on all the best gunships like this one. Like how you’ve done those multi-hour vid on imperial vehicles
My favorite rebel ship.
"Tough little ship"

I built so many of these things in Star Wars: Rebellion.. this and the carriers with lots of X-Wings..
It's so OP that EckhartsLadder and Charlie McShane banned its use when they played Skirmish mode on Empire at War: Fall of the Republic.

May I request a video on the Crusader-class frigate? It might just be superior to the DP20 frigate shown here.
Maybe not superior, but an equal that was also used by the empire.
PLEASE do more ships!!!!
Does the TIE pilot bounce off his wingman's ship at 4:38?
3:57 what happened to Kamino in the civil war era?
The collapse of the empire of the empire triggered a collapse of the economy on kamino. Forcing them to take smaller contracts from criminal organizations and warlords.
I always had an gunship/blockade runner fleet in empire at war
Metanerds ....I'm pretty sure in second episode of skeleton crew this ship was at pirate port
Let's gooooooo new video🎉🎉🎉
Nice vid!
Can you do a breakdown on the corvis ship from battlefront 2?
Plz

Look at Fallout Securitron’s
Please do the corona class frigate next 🙏🙏
I always considered the Dp20 superior to the Dornean gunship
Hmm... looks like a hammerbutt corvette. I seem to recall these were much weaker in SW: Rebellion on PC.
Hello
Wow
I take it that you are not including gunners as a part of the crew then.
day 9 of asking for a tie striker breakdown

Because it saves you more money in the long term. Then again as you say and as Andor pointed out the is no short supply of meatbags.

If we are they're doing a very good job at hiding it. Also I really want hondo to show up
Should have been in Rebels smh
Quad laser cannions lol

Sorry but 1600m is around 13 times bigger than 120m,not 2400 times
