1:25 still chuckle when seeing how they oriented the engine cover to make it look like a longitudinal powertrain. Decent CUV though, and they figured out that styling plays a big role in people's perception of how capable or adventurous a vehicle is. This and the new Traverse really transformed their styling despite still being pretty standard CUVs.
@@tmac2705 the smart stream engines are looking pretty good. All GDI engines can suffer carbon building up on intake valves, so I wish it was MPI, but installing an oil catch-can can greatly help along with GDI valve cleaning products. The hybrid system has been out for years now and is very well received by owners. For 2024 it got improved cooling and slightly more power and torque. I do with it had a heat pump but can’t win em all, especially at the pretty agreeable price that the Santa Fe is
Finally a real video testing the awd system. Please do more content like this and of possible more "non paved road" testing such as testing the awd going up a steeper dirt incline or on sandy terrain. Yes its never gonna go full 4x4 but it would be awesome to see how far it can test its limits.
Currently dad owns and no issues. It drives beautifully and he loves it. I love that this vehicle looks different than other vehicles on the road. Love all the features (endless) and durability history of Hyundai. As well as the 10year/100k warranty. The third row is super spacious. My 6’ brother fit perfectly. Family loves the futuristic look, feel and user friendly tech. Mom loves the UV disinfecting feature for the phones. Great on gas. I may be getting a matching vehicle soon. Take it for a test drive. Totally worth it.
I like the styling, it has that “robo-cop” look. If Hyundai was serious and added articulation, road clearance, tires, suspension, skid plates etc.- they could really go after the 4-Runner market IMO
The hybrid drivetrain is definitely the better choice. Not DCT, way better mileage, good low end. And the Canadian models is really well equipped for the price, sort of a trim between the US SEL and Luxury. Would love to see a similar review of it Mr Elmer!
Totally agree with Howard, the off-road term has no meaning. Marketing people toss it out so people will feel better about their purchase. Must look at underbody angles (approach, breakover, departure), ground clearance on base vehicle and max tire size that can be added after market, drive system: 4wd type, crawl speed. I'm sure I forgot to add some things.
The new Santa Fe somehow has less ground clearance than my 2012 Santa Fe. Also has like 1" less clearance than the Telluride (unless you buy the XRT trim)
Contrary to popular opinion, i think it looks great, a very smart design! This is not a hardcore off-roader like a Bronco or a Jeep, but it will go where most of its buyers want to go!
North American Market: " Its a Ford Flex!" Other Markets: "Its a Land Rover Defender! What the hell is a Ford Flex?" ME: LR Defender + G-Wagon= Santa Fe
This vehicle is good overall, but the DCT is a major slap on this new Santa Fe. I smell an emergency facelift coming next year to fix the rear and replacing the DCT with the regular 8spd.
Oh wait, this is not American channel. All Santa Fe turbos has a spare tire. Hybrid models don't have it. Don't know why Canadian market doesn't have a spare.
Couldn’t bring myself to buy a Hyundai even if I like the ‘value for money’ approach…..too many engine issues over the years to trust any turbo engine they produce even if it’s improved.
We’ve had 2, one was flawless, the other was riddled with issues and left us stranded multiple times from overheating. Those 50/50 odds were enough to deter us from buying another the future. Great value proposition, great tech, but not worth it IMHO
no spare tire, and dct transmission no thanks.why do they keep using them, seems like they have all sorts of issues with them.might have to ask your brother, speaking of matt where is he.
There should be laws about marketing something as "off road." You could put a set of light all terrain tires on literally anything with awd and it woukd be about as "off road" capable as this. I'm not hating on it, it's nice for what it is, but any CUV with a tire swap will perform just as well. There needs to be minimum approach/departure/breakover angles plus ground clearance before something should be legally allowed to he labeled "off road."
@@ALMX5DPlol exactly how I read it too. Someone is angry and jealous. Are they angry with the bronco sport? AT4 Terrain? Crosstrek Wilderness? RAV4 TRD? And so on. This is a cool vehicle with a very nice interior. Hyundai took the old Santa Fe that blended in with the heard and gave it presence.
That might be the ugliest SUV EVER BUILT. Santa Fe is poorly built and yes I have owned 8 new Hyundai vehicles, two Santa Fe’s. I sold my last Hyundai at 3000 miles, it was crap! Never again. Under powered, wrong transmission set up. Blah!

The DCT doesn't belong in a commuter vehicle of this size and definitely not if you're towing. Hyundai should be using the 8sp auto that Genesis uses
Well, Hyundai hasn't perfected It, but Porsche still uses a PDK in its SUV.
What do you think about the 1.6l turbo hybrid setup?

The New Hyundai is a major seller. Im seeing these new ones all the time now.Good morning Steve!!!

These cars look great imo. The interior is amazing for the price as well.

I agree, but just cant get a hybrid XRT which is a mistake IMO

15:21. Yes I agree totally..PRND21 Always. Totally see Steve's point there
Maybe in the US but internationally it's different.
Excellent review as always!!! 😁
DCT + off road seems like a recipe for disaster. Some traditional torque converters even overheat off road, I cant imagine how this does…
Driving Sport TV and the TFL team haven't had good luck with it yet.
Agree about it being a rough-roader or all-roader than an off-roader.
Contrary to popular opinion, i think it looks great, a very smart design! This is not a hardcore off-roader like a Bronco or a Jeep, but it will go where most of its buyers want to go!
Reminds me of my old LR4. Looks good!
Fantastic car!
Owners ARE ALREADY experiencing problems problems with the DCT.
This video could have been A LOT BETTER with more AWD testings on the rollers.
In my opinion the shifter isn't too egregious but the capacitive touch buttons certainly are and may be a dealbreaker.
The new Santa Fe just reminds me of the ford flex
North American Market: " Its a Ford Flex!"
Other Markets: "Its a Land Rover Defender! What the hell is a Ford Flex?"
ME: LR Defender + G-Wagon= Santa Fe
u say lifted but by how many inches

I would love to see a comparison between the Santa Fe and the Pilot Trailsport.
Off-road the passport will do better. The Santa Fe is a soft-roader, but mostly a mall crawler.
No comparison the Pilot Trailsport is a more capable and better overall SUV than the Santa Fe even in XRT form!
I was so close to buying a calligraphy model...
Ford Flex ????
Bronco sport but 3 rows
Defender Sport
2024 Chevy traverse review!?!?
hello, non-expert.
Why did they move the shifter there? You like space. Think about it.
He reviewed without a second thought.
You going to talk about the Toyota Tundra recall? I bet you won't!!!
Land Rover with Hyundai badge
Real buttons please!
No spare in something like this is crazy. I don't like the idea of smaller cars not having a spare, but on an AWD SUV its not great...
The spare is underneath the carriage of the car.🤦🏾♂️
Oh wait, this is not American channel. All Santa Fe turbos has a spare tire. Hybrid models don't have it. Don't know why Canadian market doesn't have a spare.
Australian hybrid comes with a full size spare. We just don't have petrol models yet :)@@jraheemjefcoat429
Line up "Water Cooler Cowboys", this is for you. You caught yourself trying not to laugh Howard, I had it covered for the both of us!
Great truck.
*crossover
Nah this is a unibody so it can’t be a truck
You got to be kidding me, that thing looks exactly like the Ford flex.
More Land Rover than Ford Flex.
I guess you have not seen a Ford Flex lately because it does not look like it at all. 😂

Toyota is having problem with their turbo engine as we speak. So take that as a grain of salt.

Oh, God. 🤦🏾♂️
I’d rather not have more regulation than we currently do in our automobiles. Regulating a simple name or term can get pretty messy pretty quickly.
Dct are crap without 600hp and a track!!
Rear is just so ugly. Interior is nice.
It's not bad in person. It serves a purpose for wide opening space. It wasn't intentional.
And if you don't mention it, unsubscribe.......
Hideous “lifestyle”vehicle for those rugged urban tough guys whose idea of off-road is a Walmart parking lot.
It may not be your intent, but it sounds like someone who is salty, jealous or just upset by a vehicle or the idea of what people may use it for.
@@ALMX5DPlol exactly how I read it too. Someone is angry and jealous.

This is a cool vehicle with a very nice interior. Hyundai took the old Santa Fe that blended in with the heard and gave it presence.
Isn't that what the G-Wagon is, even though is really capable for off-roading?
That’s an ugly shoe wagon pretending to be an off-roader.
I have a 2019 Santa Fe, would not buy a 2024 for any reason. To me it’s ugly. Might as well be a cybertruck🤮
It looks like a grown-up Lada. Not too cool. Ugly.
