    I need to point out that I OWN A 2023 HYUNDAI SANTA FE and with only about 4000 miles on the vehicle the Transmission had a severe lag and drop in speed when shifting between 2nd and 3rd and 3rd to 4th gear. It does have the Duel clutch transmission. I brought it immediately back to my dealership and after their evaluation they informed me that the TRANSMISSION MUST BE REPLACED. They will have the Santa Fe for three weeks while it is being replaced. The only good news is that the trans will be replaced for free ( good for 10 years ) and they will give me a loaner. A little inconvenient but all under warranty.

      Are they replacing with a new transmission or a refurbished one? Hyundai had been known to use refurbished parts for warranty repairs and replacements.

    I just traded my 2019 X3 for a 2024 Santa Fe SEL Hybrid. Ive only put 1000 miles on it and so far it’s been great. I love how quiet it rides and the interior materials are far above imo. My friends can’t believe it’s a Hyundai and are most surprised by it. I did a lot of research and I do feel confident in this purchase. 41 grand plus tax seems like an amazing deal to me. My last two cars have been over 65 and 55 grand and I’m just over sinking that much into what is basically an appliance.

    Althought it does translate to a lower resale value in most cases, I absolutely love hyundai and kias agressive and constantly changing designs and the comfort. It’s what boosts their sales. And while my 23 forte has no issues and i expect no issues from such a reliable/unchanged powertrain. My mom’s kia sorento 2.5L 8 speed auto non turbo was undriveable for over a month and we’ve been paying for several tows to the dealership (35 miles each way:/) While it would not go into gear and or stalled if it did. They finally admitted to their mistake after “hearing the noise now” however they won’t give us a loaner car as they say they’re still tearing apart the transmission to further diagnose it and she won’t get a loaner until they have the parts and start the repair which should only take 1-3 days they estimate.. Terrible customer service on their part and it’s upset us greatly. While I do love the cars themselves this alone is enough for us to know we will be selling it and getting her a used or new Toyota highlander. Glad we have a warranty on the kia but having to pay for our own tows, diagnosis, and rentals for an entire month already had been costly and they don’t seem to care at all.
    Edit: I will add the roof rails are VERY helpful when washing the roof like you guys said. I find grabbing onto them and standing on the tires is the only way im able to get the roof clean haha.

    This is an amazing 3 row for the price and space it offers. I think the hybrid is the best option due to being carryover, and more reliable. It is shocking how spacious and practical it is, considering the exterior dimensions. It is 6 inches shorter than the Highlander, but much roomier, cheaper and nicer on the inside. Hard for competitors to beat it for how flawless it almost is. It is also available in Europe since it isn't too large for our roads. The Highlander is considered too large, and has been discontinued in many markets in Europe.

I’m having a hard time justifying getting rid of it because it runs so well and it’s been paid off for a few years now. 🤷🏽‍♂️It looks like Hyundai/Kia has fixed the dual clutch transmission issues from transmissions of the past. This is the exact same (down to HP and torque) as the Santa Cruz. Yes, there have been some DCT issues with the 22 and early 23 DCTs in the Santa Cruz, so it's always possible that a new model can have issues. I have over 100,000km on my Cruz now and the DCT has been wonderful. I LOVE it. But Hyundai does seem to have a few gremlins with the 2.5T/DCT combo. I wouldn't want it any other way ... well, maybe a hybrid. LOL I've already had my eyes on the Santa Fe Calligraphy to replace my wife's rather unreliable Equinox ... those reclining driver's seats are truly something to experience. Just wish the Calligraphy didn't have the stupid 21" wheels - the 18s on the XRT look fantastic on the Santa Fe. (Dealer had an XRT, Limited, and Calligraphy on the lot last time I was there ... sent me with keys to check them all out. lol)

    • @ChrisPollard
      @ChrisPollard หลายเดือนก่อน

      Dealer got me yesterday. Was in for service on the Cruz ... he had a terra cotta orange Calligraphy on the lot. Said take it for a drive while I was waiting. A few texts with the Mrs, short call, few photos, and I put a deposit on it before I left town. Guess I'll have a 2nd Hyundai in the driveway soon. I do wonder how the DCT will compare to the Santa Cruz though. The programming is definitely different, and I think that's the source of the recall for re-programming. Still really happy with that drivetrain in the SC though, so I think it's going to serve us well in the Fe too. I'm doing really horribly at avoiding 1st year model refreshes ... going to be 2 for 2 on our most recent vehicles. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment or something.

At about 30,000 miles I started to get some juddering in reverse gear. Took it in to the dealer and they informed me the transmission had to be replaced. Took about a week. The dealer and Kia did a good job taking care of the problem. I now have 52,000 miles and no problems. I just returned to Ohio from a west coast trip where I drove 6800 miles in 30 days and the car ran flawlessly. Traveled 75 to 80 mph for 9 hours a day over several days. Average mileage was 25 mpg and I did the calculations.

    In the last year that I've visited the dealership for maintenance, at least five customers were there either picking up their vehicles that just had their DCT replaced or they were experiencing a lot of jerking and loss of power when accelerating. I was there last month and a customer was there complaining that his 2024 Santa Fe only had 2000 km and was really jerky. I used to have an elantra GT but with the 7spd DCT and that got really jerky after 40k km and they had to replace the transmission. I like the interior of this SUV but would definitely go with the hybrid.

    Interesting that Hyundai's designers blacked-out the corny "2-guys shaking hands" logo on the exterior and opted for the 4-dot Morse Code and stylized "H" theme on the inside as well as the LED headlights & tail lights. The overall effect is more cohesive and a welcome departure from previous uninspired interior & exterior designs.

    MM, wish would talk a bit about driving position ergonomics and visibility
    From being a forum member, we noticed H has a few issues with all new models, issues ranging from faulty (costly) injectors on turbo engines, to troubled transmissions that may or may not have a real fix. Engines overall seem better done on their more expensive models - while models such as Elantra may still be troubled in the engine department. Too bad this company finds it acceptable to rush in production complex new transmissions. The least reliable long term models are the hybrids while their EV have been troubled by strange issues, including the braking system. Generally speaking H warranty is very good but their repair time is usually long, due to their overload with faulty GDI engines.

    Seen one on the road few days ago... as always, I personally hate low tail lights, most of the times I can't see it, can't see the turn signal, etc... that is what I think.
    Also... wish vehicle had a larger wheel or design proportion that made it look larger... as of this design... wheels look small compare to vehicle body size.
    Overall... I PERSONALLY though it did not look as good as from videos & photos. I do love the center console spacing... especially getting rid of gear selector to elsewhere... it's all electronic anyways. Move it away to and make a large open area like this one.

  • @axx8326
    @axx8326 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    The Koreans came a long way from their 90's -2000;s period where their cars were atrocious yet ppl seem to be attracted but suspicious at the same time to their offerings. The price is interesting considering what they offer but the long term reliability is really a gamble. Could get a solid one and have 0 problems or can get one that would drain your wallet. Granted they give 5 yrs or 100.000 km warranty but it seems that Hyundai dealers(service departments) are also a hit and miss. If you add to that we don't have the same lemon laws in Canada like in the US you will be left at the mercy of the dealers/Hyundai Canada in case something bad happens. Long story short I would lease one if that back wasn't as ugly (sorry but the LR/RR are elegant this is not) and if it didn't have a DCT (DCTs are not inherently bad, if you look at VW who's been using them for years) DCTs are complicated transmissions to work on and to service if you have an issue with it. Ah and the gas mileage is ...meh.

    What a fantastic channel with great reviews and insights! It’s a shame you don’t have the Skoda Kodiaq in Canada like down under. I would have loved to have got your thoughts on the new generation Kodiaq vs new Sante Fe vs Sorento. The previous Kodiaq was so much fun to drive yet so comfortable even on 20s. It’s a shame so many companies don’t allow you to swap wheels to higher profile tyres / lower wheel sizes for better ride comfort - it’s now all about the look with bigger wheel sizes to fill the arches. Talking to some dealers here, the new Sante Fe has just been launched and isn’t flying off the shelves- pricing, hybrid only at launch, styling…

They are great to look at and have a great tech but I had nothing but issues after the 5 year mark. One blown engine and the other had transmission issue. My current Toyota has been great. Zero issues. Yes it's is conservative and doesn't have all the bells and whistles but it just keeps on going. I drive about 35 to 40 K a year. The Toyota is at 175 000 K and still drives like it was new. Fill up and go. Can't say that about the Hyundai's I owned before people start jumping at me I do oil changes every 8000 Km

    Loving the look of this thing. Looks roomy too. This is a North American vehicle for sure especially if it has the smooth ride. Ford was the first to dip the toe back into squared family SUVs and now the others have seen the light. This one is like an 80s concept. I hope they get ahead of that transmission issue and it turns out to be an isolated lemon. I agree with Zack something else about it must be eating the transmissions. Maybe the software learned bad habits from being field tested and compensates in an unforseen way.
