    Learn how to do a DIY motion control CLONE EFFECT with a regular slider in our latest tutorial!
    A 'clone' effect where one actor interacts with themselves in a static shot is easy enough, as seen here:
    • How to CLONE yourself!!
    • HOW TO CLONE YOURSELF!...
    BUT... this is a low budget attempt at recreating a 'motion control' clone effect where the camera is still able to move, as seen in Back to the Future Part 2 / Part 3 and the Man in the Iron Mask. For extra points, one clone walks fully around the other. We did ours with no budget and without proper motion control, using a timed slider move and a visual reference for the pan. See our finished effect here: • CLONE EFFECT using DIY...
    In Back to the Future Part 2 this was done at Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) with a computer-controlled device called the VistaGlide, which could perfectly replicate the same camera movement multiple times. I don't know what they used for Iron Mask, but it could have been a similar system.

    Great Tutorial, but maybe an idea to make to shots that gonna match exact:
    Take the slider and put it on an angle. Now you just let gravity do the work (Which always makes for the same results

    This is a cool effect. However, there was some slight shifting with the characters that looked unnatural. I think this could be fixed by simply just adding some tracking dots to the green screen behind you and using After Effects to position them correctly based on that information.

    Everything seem good BUT... the 2 characters are always in focus and the inside of the shed isn't. It would have been a good idea if you added a camera blur to the character that is walking in and out of focus. Nice Video ;)

    A Ronin gimble might be a cool idea on the slider if you could time it just right. Or if it could "auto-track" the yellow tape on the stand and follow it.

    Hey I was thinking if it would help adding some motion blur and some extra blur when the actor moves away from the camera(because of the depth of field)?!

    • @SteveRamsdenYoutube
      @SteveRamsdenYoutube  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I added a little when he is at the back of the room, but it's pretty subtle so maybe it could have done with a bit more!
