I love my 18 STX..65k miles so far and it’s been great. I was looking for a basic no frills truck and this was the best deal I could find. Hauls everything I need it to and it’s a great daily driver.

Love my 2021 STX! I had certain things that were musts for a truck: supercrew, 4x4, 5.0 L and 20” wheels. I got all of the above, plus I prefer the grill and color matched bumpers on my STX. Back up camera and large touch screen are great, plus Apple CarPlay, multiple driving modes, and my truck came with running boards. Love it! No way I would pay $6-7k for led headlights and still have to upgrade the wheels. Got my truck last February for under $42k brand new! It really does come down to personal preference in options, appearance and how much you’re willing to spend. Great video guys

You get a lot more than just led headlights. Power adjustable with height adjust seats, heated seats, 400W plugs, larger screen, a nicer feel to the steering wheel etc. Not to mention, I wouldn't want to drive anything with regular halogen headlights after having factory LED's up here in the Canadian Rockies. I also would never want 20" rims on my truck but I also drive down lots of forest service roads. If you prefer the sporty look for sure the STX looks nicer. I still do, but now I actually don't mind chrome - it's definitely a much more mature look in my opinion as opposed to the cool blacked out/color matched look.
      Both are good trucks.

I drive a 2018 STX SuperCrew 4x4. I'm ball'n on a budget and got mine used in January of 2021. I traded out of a 2006 XLT that I've had since new.( I tend to keep stuff when I get it paid for). To say I love my truck is an understatement. I have more [torque/horsepower] and get way better fuel economy that my 5.4L triton powered 2006. Having 4wheel drive is nice too. It's save my bacon twice in bad weather in the time I have owned it. I am of the opinion that the XLT 302A package has the right amount of options to make a balanced truck. The catch is while the STX is light on options, IT HAS EVERYTHING I NEED and didn't bust the budget. I'll be keeping this one at least as long as I kept my first F150.

LX supercab all the way LOL. It will be an Atlas blue work truck that is perfect for what I want since everything is already blacked out - My setup on order is the 4x4, proven coyote V8, start/stop delete, skid plates, 101A pwr pkg, max tow/payload w/18" alum wheels, 36 gal tank, no carpet floor, fabric buckets w/ workstation, running boards, privacy glass & defroster...... $50k all in and I still have 6 grand to add a cantilever lader rack, bed liner, fender flares and the Roush active exhaust among other items. I am going to go with the Ram is what I said for the last 2 years until I found out what I could get from Ford in 2022 at this price level.

My 2018 had halogens and they were awful. Literally were comparable to my wifes first car a 96 neon lol. I immediately bought nineo 2 l.e.ds off amazon for $100 high/lows and it was the best money i ever spent. 3 years running flawlessly and super bright. Its how the truck shouldve came. Looking back i wish i wouldve bought a nicer truck but i had a price point that i wanted to stick with and i did. Now i wish i wouldve spent a few more thousand for a sport package/lariat because now im stuck trying to upgrade my truck and spending the money anyhow.

Funny how halogen headlights have been just fine for half a century and suddenly now they are crap? Cracks me up. Nothing wrong with halogens. I'm still waiting for the govt to ban these new high intensity headlights for being too dangerous for oncoming traffic. They are ridiculously bright and disrespectful to other drivers. My personal pickup has halogens (work just fine!) but my last rental had LED and I was constantly being flashed by other drivers because the damn things were so bright they thought I wasn't dimmed when we passed. Dumb!

Not as cool looking tho and the extra height of the 20" rims is quite noticeable in the ride and feel. Fashion over form! Plus the sports cloth seats are a nice upgrade over the standard cloth seats if you aren't interested in wanting to pony up for after market leather. Not to mention that the trucks are already too expensive as-is and going up an extra $7k while trading off some features for others isn't ideal for many of us. I get compliments almost daily on my STX. It sounds vain... but you can't put a price on that kind of endorphin boost 😬

Just got into a 2021 XLT with the 302A package and I can say for certain, after owning a 2010 and a 2017 XLT, it might as well be a lariat. ...how can you blind oncoming traffic if you don't have the LED? If you want to cause wrecks and headaches you must upgrade your headlights. My favorite is when morons get these headlights and then install the leveling kits without readjusting the headlights to compensate. They may as well stay on bright because dim makes zero difference. You can imagine a deer crossing right at the point of passing an oncoming dufus with this setup. You would never see it. I imagine as time goes on there will be more accidents due to these headlights, and will eventually be banned by govt.

Probably worth the extra 7K, the problem is affording either one of them. I just bought a used 2023 STX for 35,500 with right at 14K on the odo, that listed for 52K in 23. The only real issue I have with it is mine does not have any lumbar support. Why would anyone build a car seat today without at least a manual lumbar support? Stupid. One more thing, I cannot check my tire pressure while driving because I cannot load it into the scrolling info screen. That is even dumber than the missing lumbar. Overall I like my stx, but I was a value shopper and I think the STX is more of a value truck than the other packages. But whoever ordered my truck thought they just had to have the blind spot monitoring but no lumbar. I had the blindspot mirror on my Mustang and I prefer it because I don't like relying on technology on the highway.

When you try to add stuff to the Lariat it forces you into a higher package and blows the price out of the water and races north of $60k. I just spec'd both.....XLT loaded is as good as a mid grade Lariat for thousands less. The only sucky part is the XLT gets no LEDs in the back except for reverse lights *why Ford????) and the Lariat has the light bending LED headlights. I think the XLT grill is better with sport appearing package that the lariat, + but that is a subjective thing. You can also get a better sound system with the Lariat. So nicely loaded XLT at $57k to a nicely loaded Lariat at $63-65k.

Interesting, that STX has about 2000lb payload. Mine is 1708lbs, crew cab 2.7ecoboost with 3.55 axle.
Could it be just the V8 engine? I know there is a 2.7 Ecoboost max payload option that boosts it 100-200 lbs.
After calculating all my weights when towing my camper: tongue, WDH, people/dog, then I've only got 315 lbs left over. I'm pretty much maxed out when I put my dirtbike and a can of gas back there. That extra few hundred pounds would be nice.

Upgrade? Useless crap is not an upgrade. Its a truck, not a Ferrari. I ordered an XL since I could not delete co pilot on XLT. I do not need help staying in my lane. Maybe the auto makers should just block cell signals while in drive. No need for driver assist then. People wont be able to drive with face in their phone.

Hopefully you didn’t get power windows. Just another thing to break! Don’t need radio either, as your attention should be solely on the road.

Weird, my STX has a button on the wheel to turn lane assist on and off. I do hate lane assist... Except when I'm texting and driving or pounding road beers 🤣 it's really convenient to turn on and off at the push of the button.
I love my STX it's heads and toes sexier than that chrome accented 18" wheeled fugly grilled xlt. And for costing less when the trucks are already outrageously priced I have to say it felt like a win.

Stx is just like a plain xl work truck.

It's true that the STX is the same trim level as the XL base, but it has an upgraded sports which include fantastic 20" rims and very nice cloth seats. It does not look like or feel like a work truck whatsoever and I get a ton of compliments on it both inside and out especially after I added modest running boards and the tailgate insert badge. The quality of the rims cannot be overstated and the interior with the cloth seats and the center console do not feel like a work truck at all. One thing I have that's not in this video is the top glove box compartment is actually open with no door and has really cool f-150 styling on it. It also has all the cruise control and radio control buttons on the steering wheel which as far as I know most other brands work trucks do not include. My buddy has a 2022 xlt that he drives for his company and it cost more than mine and isn't close to as nice as mine. It's weird he has the "upgraded trim" but it didn't have any options added so we end up having the same entertainment console and manual seats but his is way more like a work truck than my base level XL "work truck". He doesn't have the center console, nice cloth seats, or the beautiful 20" rims. And the rims don't just look great, the extra 2" height over the standard 18" wheel is extremely noticeable visually and when driving. It's bizarre how his cost more than mine.
Tldr: this truck is far from being a work truck. It's true that it's not the "premium truck" but to me it's nicer than previous generations lariats. Just add leather seats if you're really pressed for leather, but tbh the cloth is really nice.
