I’ve the SLC 250D Amg Line.. It’s remapped to 239bhp with a little under 560nm of torque.. It’ll pull 5.9 0-60 every time and is good for 160mph.. Plenty enough for me, oh and I’ve had the EGR turned off.. Oil changed every 4500miles, as expecting oil to last as per the schedule of 12000 miles makes for a short lived diesel engine.. It handles well, as far as the grip goes.. Unfortunately, being hydraulic, the feedback is minimal.. The chassis is more than stiff enough, not so for many convertibles out there… Roof up, it’s just like a coupe.. Brakes are more than ample, just stick with the original Mercedes discs and pads..
The king of the small roadsters is the Porsche Boxster. However, to get one on the road it will cost much more, as at MSRP it comes without any options unlike the bmw or Mercedes. I used to have an slk250 and I paid nearly double that price for my Porsche Boxster (3.4L 911 carrera engine)

The Z4 was available as a soft top from 2003 until 2009, but then was then replaced by a folding hard-top. A Z4 coupe was also available from 2006-2008, including a rather tasty M version :)
Slk all the way, a 55amg in the wrong hands will kill you .... I own one, forget the boxter I had 2 - 911s previously and the 55 outgunned them both (not turbo) the 250d sounds like a good daily, nice vid
Only the Mercedes SLK SLC has this roof. I don't think Porsche or BMW has a roof like this.. (a masterpiece of engineering) and this new 9 speed box is not all .. the late 2015 -2016 SLK is so much better in every way than the 2011-2015 7 speed.. not just the gearbox... look at that gear shifter in brushed aluminium.. My late 2015 SLK also has a clear roof allowing me to see the stars or passing birds if I wish when stationary.. an altogether much smoother performance than the 2011-15 7 speed SLK.. Maybe I should have done the video review...
It feels like he had a script and stuck to it. The comment about the BMW Z4 annoyed me as it's been a hardtop for years, he could have used the Porsche Boxster as his other comparison car. Also, he complained about the lack of sun in the UK, yet it was quite clearly a very bright autumnal day. I do continually ask myself why I watch his videos. The rest of the team are quite intuitive and generally have good car knowledge!
love mine, drive it everyday, £35 per year tax, scum ulez tax exempt (The bastards don't deserve any tax at all given the state of our roads) 9 forward gears gives 60 MPG+ on motorway journeys, and it looks better than it's rivals, What's not to love?
+Bosse Grytbakk The new Miata just failed to get 5 star safety in the EU. Cheap, yeah it is. Not in the same class as this SLK or the Z4. People don't buy Mercs to save money, it is an aspirational marque with arguably the strongest pedigree in the world.
+Annuvyn Arawn .....I know all that. .....I was not speaking of quality. .....but about price and driveability. ........I would be surprised actually if the Miata is not the more fun car to drive of these two. .......Having said that, I like Mercedes as well. ......great cars. ......but very expensive.

Cracking drive - had a 65 plate for several years and it has been superb. No complaints at all.

This one is a big improvement on the 2011 -15 7 speed paddle shift the suspension feels so much better

3.4.. as opposed to a 2.1 the 5.5 merc is an awful lot more money too
