I had a 2012 AMG 55. Stunning performance with brakes better than my mates Aston Martin DB9. It was meant to be my forever car but unfortunately I bought a red one. The paint started falling off (Google it). Mercedes wouldn’t fix it as it had already been fixed under warranty. Unbelievable. I didn’t want to spend thousands on a respray so sold it on before it got too bad. On the look out for another one, but not a red one. It was my third SLK, having had a first generation 230 and a second generation 350 but the latest 55 is definitely the one to go for. Cheap to tax too.
@@kartikyadav7421 Just make sure the Timing Belt Chain/Tension has been service because that will be costly, it's bound to happen, otherwise the engine runs like a dream
I have the 2012 SLK350 AMG Wheels ,Brakes ,7spd,..love it..but I encourage you to try the SLK 55 AMG that’s the rocket..also it’s almost December and I’m still driving around with the top down in 30 degree weather
ive got the previous version, the 171, I love it, drives like a beast and with winter tyres its ok in light snow, with summer tyres it really comes into its own on tight roads, which I mainly drive in the highlands, everything works and still around 38mpg SLK200, is a decent car if you know how to drive and get the best out of it
🐧 MB SLK 350 R172 AMG-Line... The best car of its kind ever made in the entire world! I never ever would give mine away; even not for twice the current price. I mean this dead seriously. A car like this will never be built again.
I’ve had 6 now, SLK230 320 then 200 then 280 then 250 and now 350, I like the 55 I’m trying the range . I love them all, although didn’t rate the 200/250 as sports cars, issue either diesel is the sound goes. They perform greatly and are reliable but sound is importantly or can become dull. Most fun for my money was an immaculate 280 for £3500, 30k miles all options, loved that car untill some tit in a VW killed him.
I'd love an SLK350 but there's a major issue with these engines in that the timing chain sprockets can wear and that becomes a very expensive job to sort out. It's a well documented issue. Issue was sorted in later cars of the R171 3.5L range but be very careful!
I know the m272 engine in the R171 had balance shaft issues, in which the sprockets wear, but the V6 in the R172 is a 60° V6, so it doesn't require balance shaft, so it's not an issue, the m276 appears to be far more reliable than it's predecessor.
Thank you so much for this video I'm at the point where I'm trying to figure out what to buy. A used SLK or a used slc. If anybody can provide me a comment back on what they suggest I should go for please let me know. Because I don't want to buy one if it's not worth it due to it's going to cost you much and repairing down the long run for out of warranty issues. But if the SLK has a better motor long-term over the SLC please let me know I'd love to hear cuz I don't know much about this
K stands for Kürtz meaning short not light the L stands for Leicht meaning light. If you would have speaking more germanic than french and celtic you would have known that!
I have the R172 CDI version, with all the mod cons, love the car, very torquey, plenty of poke and cheap to run. 60 miles or gallon.

@@seasuper3402 Loved my 350. Lookout for rust under the lip of the wheel arches. I’d still go all out for the 55 though if you can.
