Thanks for the vids. I have an 04 swing i bought in September of 2020. It's my first bike since I was 15, and I have had a blast on it. I also have a 21 Harley LRS now that gets the vast majority of my attention, but my swing is still a blast to ride. My problem is that I've put 5k miles on it, and it has 33k mile total, and all I've done is some belt checks, air filter clean, and oil change a couple of years ago now? It needs brake pads for sure and another oil change, fork seals are leaking, and the front tire won't seal properly to the rim for some reason? Anyway, it needs some TLC, but she still starts and runs just fine for a store run or quick ride.
@robbyclark6915 right on your welcome. I love these Silver Wings, too. Put some brake pads on it and do the fork seals, and she will go another 30k no prob. Thing probably doesn't owe you anything, so just keep it around. The tire problem you're having could be a build-up of corrosion inside the rim and creeping into the bead area where the tire meats the rim. I think it's pretty common with these scooters. Mostly likely, all you need to do is take the wheel off and take the tire off the rim. Get a drill with a wire wheel and grind off all the corrosion. Put a new tire on it and probably be just fine. Or clean up the old one if it's still good and use that. Thanks for watching and the positive feedback ! Cheers!!
Ya there is a lot. All special in there own little way. These scooters are pretty complex when I think about it. So much easier with a motorcycle to get at everything faster.
@WILDGEESE399 Thank you. Glad you like that one. I can't take full credit on the idea . I read about it online and thought yup definitely going to try that. Simple but effective. The version I read about was to use a pice of white pvc pipe but I didn't have any on hand so I used some metal pipping I had instead. Both seem like good ideas to me. Cheers!
