    What a machine, I didn't even know about it. it was luxury with the technology of the time, and it still impresses,.. and the taste and dedication with which these works of art were created,.. I don't think we're going back to this time,..

      @MrRui33333 ya I think your right. Very nicely crafted bike. It's wierd to me they are devalued they way that they are. At least around here it seems. These older classic cruisers are going for cheep. Lots around 500 to a 1000 bucks And up to 2000 for road ready bikes. People giving these bikes away. Probably because it's expensive to fix them and parts are always getting harder to find. Definitely on their way out as things keep going electric. Wont be the same tho. Cheers!

    Hi hello, I'm Portuguese. and I recently exchanged my fantastic MT 07 for the new MT 09 4 gen. which is also an excellent machine. but, something happened, around 750-800 km driven, which was the following,.. I start by putting in several gears and this time I even used quickshifter and noticed that from 3 m to 4th gear you hear a delay and neutral, rpm goes up and right after the 4th gear comes in, there was no time to press the clutch, despite having tried,..and of course, it was a rather rough blow, the wheel Driven in 4th gear. I would go between 75 to 90kmh,.but despite the small scare,. I continued, but then, when I was going to have lunch, I noticed that at 4 speed I noticed a small squeak at low rpm, because if you accelerate, it hides and you don't notice it, but I believe there was damage,.. I was sad because it's a new bike, it has weeks,..this week I will do 1-revision,. and let's see what they will do. It's very good that you waste your time teaching, it's very complex but everything can be learned. all the best to you!!

    Thanks for the vids. I have an 04 swing i bought in September of 2020. It's my first bike since I was 15, and I have had a blast on it. I also have a 21 Harley LRS now that gets the vast majority of my attention, but my swing is still a blast to ride. My problem is that I've put 5k miles on it, and it has 33k mile total, and all I've done is some belt checks, air filter clean, and oil change a couple of years ago now? It needs brake pads for sure and another oil change, fork seals are leaking, and the front tire won't seal properly to the rim for some reason? Anyway, it needs some TLC, but she still starts and runs just fine for a store run or quick ride.

    • @CenterStandMechanX
      @CenterStandMechanX 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @robbyclark6915 right on your welcome. I love these Silver Wings, too. Put some brake pads on it and do the fork seals, and she will go another 30k no prob. Thing probably doesn't owe you anything, so just keep it around. The tire problem you're having could be a build-up of corrosion inside the rim and creeping into the bead area where the tire meats the rim. I think it's pretty common with these scooters. Mostly likely, all you need to do is take the wheel off and take the tire off the rim. Get a drill with a wire wheel and grind off all the corrosion. Put a new tire on it and probably be just fine. Or clean up the old one if it's still good and use that. Thanks for watching and the positive feedback ! Cheers!!

      @CenterStandMechanX 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @roamingearth915 you mean compatible. Like put xs650 engine parts on a xs400. No pretty sure they are different. 2 totally different engines I'm pretty sure. You might be able to exchange parts between the bikes but not a lot of them. I'm talking about everything else but the engine. There were other Yamaha bikes of a different line that used the same engine block but the xs650 isn't one of them. Hope that helps cheers!

    • @CenterStandMechanX
      @CenterStandMechanX หลายเดือนก่อน

      @voiceofreason9238 ya, it sure is. Delicate too. I once had a similar type of plug in a different bike and actually snapped the plug off while tightening it down in the head. Brand new plug just snapped off. Then, I had a difficult time extracting the broken off stud . I like the older style ones that aren't so delicate . This plug I'm dealing with in the video here only has about 30hrs on it to. So hopefully they last longer than that and this was just an anomaly. I plan on get another one to take with me on rides just in case it happens again. Cheers!

    This has been a great help. Thank you. I'm working on a Honda cd175 and it's been one fiasco after another. The cam sprocket was changed at some time in it's life and there was no 0 timing mark to time it off. It's a 360 cycle engine which means both pustons are at tdc at the same time luckily. I tried to start it last week and it ran like shit and stopped and wouldn't go again. I'm pretty sure it's the cam timing. I can now check tonight. I hope I haven't damaged any valves or anything. It turned over by hand on the bench with no issues.

    • @CenterStandMechanX
      @CenterStandMechanX หลายเดือนก่อน

      @damo690 Thank you. Ya timing can be a pain. Have you checked the Woodruff key on the flywheel? That can mess with your ignition timing. I've found them sheared right in half or just partially sheared. Enough to throw ignition timing off. It can happen from stalling the engine a lot or I've seen it happen when there way to much gas flooding into the engine and so much that when the piston comes around it hydro locks at top dead center causing the Woodruff key to shear off. As far as valve timing goes check the compression. If you have lots like over 100 it should run and valve timing can't be to far off. When my engine was off one tooth it would pop out the exhaust really badly

  • @Stuckin330

    These marks on these bike arnt really perfect when they line up. I did a 650 and found that out . Even with a new chain it’s not perfect . So when you time it you time it with the marks that are the closest to the spot you need . And youl kno when you see it

    • @CenterStandMechanX
      @CenterStandMechanX หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Stuckin330 ya I found them to be a bit hard to be sure . I think It would be good idea to rig up a way to start the engine before installing it into the bike. Just to make sure everything checks out before going through all the work of putting the engine in the bike and then having to take it out again just to skip 1 tooth on the cam and put it all back in again. It messes with you because not always convinced it's the problem while doing it. Lol

    My bike does a similar thing on cold start. I have to hold the starter button and the bike turns over multiple times, sputtering some before it finally starts and it’s kinda of a weak start. It’s only on cold start though. Think that could be a weak battery?

    • @CenterStandMechanX
      @CenterStandMechanX หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, sorry I missed your comment somehow. Just found it here now. Umm ya I have had problems with weak batteries and starting bikes. Put a jumper or fresh battery in, and the thing will start right up. I've gone to crank bikes over and they turn over slow and I'll push it down the driveway and dump it into second gear and it will fire right up. Not sure how correct my theory is but my mind tends to think the voltage drop in the system when cranking the engine over with the electric start will give it a weak spark and cause it not to start. Lots of reasons for a weak battery and sometimes they just get old and need to be replaced. I find motorcycle batteries don't last as long as car batteries usually. I'm sure there's exceptions to that rule but generally that's what I've experienced. There lots of other reasons for hard starting to. Tight valves is another one that gets overlooked a lot too. If the valves are tight it can cause it to be hard to start but starts easy when warm. Hard to say what exactly what it is your dealing with without more information. Hope that helps. Cheers!

  • @deltabluesdavidraye
    @deltabluesdavidraye 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So the valve cover cannot be removed with the engine in the frame?

    • @CenterStandMechanX
      @CenterStandMechanX 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @deltabluesdavidraye yeah that's right unfortunately. The head bolts protrude out of the engine case to High for the valve cover and head to clear the frame. Valve cover is fairly thick and there's not enough clearance to remove it while the engine is in the frame. Makes doing any of this type of work a little more involved. Cheers!

      @lipsee100 Ya Harleys definitely holds value. I bought this one for 400 bucks off a buddy. I work with that hauls and deals junk on the side. So hes like a go-to guy for all your junk needs, lol. Someone needed it gone because their underground parking was getting renovated. So it was situational, I guess you could say. • @CenterStandMechanX
      @CenterStandMechanX 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @vadersfather1248 Hi, sorry I didn't get back sooner. Sounds kinda like you're having what's called a lean pop. It's really hard to know, though, without actually seeing the bike, but that's the direction I would start looking. Usually, a lean pop can happen when the engine has an intake leak. Like a vacuum hose is cracked or bad manifold gasket. Look for a vacuum leak around the intake area. Get the bike running and spray brake cleaner around the intake boots and vacuum lines, throttle area too, and if you have a leak, the rpm should change. Most likely, rev up but could stumble too.Your carb could need a clean, too. It's so hard to tell from away. That bike I think has cv carbs to so could be a rip in one of your diaphragms to idono. Cheers!

    • @CenterStandMechanX
      @CenterStandMechanX 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question Max . There doesn't appear to be any cotter pin type of mechanisms that would keep the nut from backing off but the nut itself looks to be a self locking type with an extra locking washer built right into it. It's on the outer edge towards the right of the machine if placed correctly. Possibly it is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced. Thanks for pointing that out to me. I think it will need to be replaced. Probably worn out. Cheers!
