Great job Steve covering this classic. Fun to see Jerry Shirley banging away on drums trying to keep up with Kenney Jones. Jerry has written that Kenney was his idol when he was a youngster, and of course this is how he met Steve and began a friendship and collaboration that lasted (off and on) throughout Steve's short life.
Since the passing of the brilliantly talented Steve Marriott there is no one who can do this song justice other than you, Mr Steve Ellis! I saw you last night at the Sixties Gold Tour 2019 at the Winding Wheel Chesterfield and although you didn't sing Tin Soldier you did sing All or Nothing brilliantly, as well as the rest of your performance - especially one of my favourites, Handbags and Gladrags. Thank you Steve!
Why why why do people do "tributes"? Such performances are inevitably far worse than the originals they worshipped and just denigrate the legacy of the Great Ones.
@@thedolphin5428 this version is better than some of the dodgy recordings by the original artists themselves, they didn't get them all perfect......and as far as why "tribute" something....I ask why not? if it's something iconic enough....there will naturally be tributes to it.....what you're representing here is pure undistilled music snobbery.
Thanks so much for this, Steve was spectacular, we met a few times, swapped guitars ( the sunburst Telecaster) and I did sound engineering on the '78 SF reunion tour ....utter madness and great fun. R.i.p. dear Steve 👍🇬🇧
Funnily enough, heard "Rainbow Valley" on the radio where I was working today, it always struck me that Steve Ellis's voice had the vulnerability of youth combined with the sense of massive potential. Similarity with young Steve Winwood. Fantastic record of it's time.
Beautiful performance, I've watched the video Tim Soldier by Steve Marriott plenty of times. Steve Ellis did this song justice. His good friend Steve Marriott would be very proud 🎸🎶🎼🎵❣️
I love your voice Mr Steve Ellis and after seeing many videos on TH-cam of you singing at this memorial concert - which I could watch over and over. So much so that it prompted me to look for the DVD of it and I found it on the website shop of none other than Kenney Jones! I haven't had chance to sit and watch it yet, but I am sure I'm in for a treat. People used to say that Brian Clough was the best manager England never had and for me, Steve Ellis is the best successor to Steve Marriott the Small Faces never had!
I was at this night in the mosh pit - happy memories. Some gigs just stand out and this was one of those special happenings! Shame the Astoria no longer exists.
Wow, never seen this before! Close your eyes and Stevie Marriot could be there! This is up with Dylan's 30th anniversary concert version of My Back Pages!
No offence intended, but he is not a good singer. He sounds like he has no technique at all. He's just guessing at it and that's alright, if you get it right, but he is off time and off tune lots of times. Fans may not care, but the people who hand out the prices, is a different story.
Polls are lame, especially Rolling Stone. On their list of 100 greatest rock singers, Steve isn't even listed!! Nor is he on their list of 100 greatest rock frontmen, REALLY ?!? Disgusting 😡
@rinkinkel no worries... BUT... the 100 best singers, according to Rolling Stone magazine, features such brilliant vocalist luniaries ad as Lou Reed, Tom Waites, Kurt Cobain, and Bob f***ING Dylan... Steve's vocal ability may not be as good as it was when he originally sang Everlasting Love back in 67 (he was 17) but good god, he's better than a lot of those I've listed above
@@suffolkaudiophile OOPS - misunderstanding - LOL! No disrespect to Steve Ellis, he is a fine singer. However, I was referring to Steve Marriott as being disrespected by the polls. Surely you would agree that SM deserves to be on the list of 100 greatest rock singers - IMO I would certainly place him at least in the top 20 ( I respect that some don't care for his style). And as for being one of the greatest frontmen - I have read MANY quotes from other rock stars who say they stood on the side stage enthralled and inspired by Steve's charisma and ability to connect with the audience.

I was at this gig at the front a fantastic night great sound everyone really giving it some
Most under rated singer ever…the brilliant Steve Ellis

"Tin Soldier" was the Small Faces finest moment. What a wonderful tribute this is!
Creative music
What a destruction of something great. Total train wreck.

One of my favourite songs from the Small Faces, I seen them in the 60s it was the start of a love affair of going to live gigs

great song, great performance by Steve Ellis
Flippin' amazing - the cream of British rock synthesised with Steve Ellis

Amazing Voice. Xxx
What an audience ! Putting their drinks down on the stage, tightening shoe laces, drunk woman fooling around... Show some respect for the band !
Love this version of my all-time favourite song..Steve Marriott was my music idol & this does him justice..I'm sure he would have been proud!
What a concert! I really loved the Small Faces😊👍👍👍!! Joachim H. from Cologne/Germany!
Oh WOW Steve Ellis, absolutely Fantastic!!!!

Steve Ellis....the best vocalist ever 😍
great singer
What a performance, great singing, in the mode of Steve.
The years have slipped away!
Steve Ellis just rocks it. Not many singers can do this song justice, as steve Marriott intended.
Certainly not live not many singers at all are great live
Steve Marriot is my favourite rock star of all time!
Mine too! 👍👍
Steve what a voice what a tribute
must agree, to cover Marriot so well, fantastic!

Thank you for this, really special. My favourite small faces song, sung by the brilliant Steve Ellis. What more could you want?
Steve Marriott singing it?
Yes agreed
A dick answer by me. I couldn’t help myself though

Weller and a "brother" .......just magnificent!
Great cover by Steve 👏👍
I haven’t seen it before either, love Steve Ellis, he was the right person to sing it, although Paul Weller did do a great version of it too
Paul Weller owes a lot to Steve Ellis

Omg, that final vocal note! My dog left the room howling. My cat is still under the lounge, hiding in cringed-out shame.
Are you listening to the same Steve Ellis as me???????Steve Marriott would be turning in his grave. 😱
Just like Steve marriot brilliant
It is kinda weird notice that Noel is wearing a smocking while everybody looks pretty casual 😂
There are moments when a certain guitar player. ..NEEDS TO JUST SHUT HIS GOB!!!!!!!!
haha if you mean noel then yeah , i thought the same ,maybe he thought ole stevie needed help
🤣
too many back up singers, the group of 4 looked ridiculous

How curious.. haven't ever seen Noel playing anything other than right-handed.
He is left handed but plays right handed. You’re buzzing mate
