I know exactly where Roger lives just outside Burwash in East Sussex. My ex worked at Nat West Bank in Ticehurst where Roger had an account. Roger needed to sign some papers so my ex was asked to go and see Roger and my ex took his Quadraphenia album along as well.
I was a roadie for geno washington and the ram jam band, when i met the love affair edinburgh waverley, concert was geno love affair amen corner, and steve bought me and the other two roadies chicken and chips in a basket in a pub in rose street, and of course a pint, next time i saw the band was on a small road going towards Aviemore, us in our transit and they in a big american cad, ah memories lol.
Daltry is rightly regarded as one of the best front men (the best in my opinion)...steve Ellis though....wow what an amazing voice ..seems a top bloke to
I'll always remember my father, who wasn't exactly over enamoured with the music of the time, saying this to me after he'd heard Love Affairs hit 'Everlasting Love.' He'd been cocking his head and had a puzzled expression on his face, after hearing the opening line, and he said, ''What the bloody hell are they singing? It sounds like, ''Arseholes are strained, deep it hurts when they glow!'' It still creases me up, and I told the wife and all my mates this tale, and tears were running down their faces.
I just love daltrey. For someone whos decorated as much as he is in the music industry for being a great frontman in a GREAT band, hes just like 1of us, an everday man with the human touch etc. Legend. Happy belated b,day lady p.
Used to have a beer with Roger most Fridays in the Kicking Donkey (sadly closed now) as we were coming back to Hastings from Cheltenham.. Lovely man and does a lot for local charities. Happy days. XX
Steve, if you're reading this, lot of us are trying to identify the long-haired (absolutely gorgeous) dancing girl in the "Everlasting Love" video. Shirley Knight, Barbara Bach, Britt Eckland, a mysterious "Susan Mathews"...even your mum have all been listed as possibilities. Can you shed any light on this? Thanks and thank you for the music.
Listening to these guys , I just wish I had kept up practicing the guitar and joined a rock band instead of having to go into the labour exchange for work. Dennis Nielson was my job centre manager and oh boy did he send me out on some dead end jobs!
I always wondered whatever happened to the other four blokes in Love Affair?? I know Rex had his own trucking company. I have mates if your British don’t laugh in Scunthorpe North Lincolnshire. Met them in San Diego summer of 1985 coming out of a strip club. Kept in touch for two years and first went to England 1987 for the entire summer. I was a teacher at the time so I had the summer off. Right next to the train station was The Bridge House Hotel Pub. On the jukebox I would play The Walker Brothers The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore, and Manfred Mann Pretty Flamingo and of course Everlasting Love and One Road. I visited every summer until 1993 when I packed in teaching and my mates would say “ I knew Bud was back in Scunthorpe when I heard Love Affair on the jukebox. They Steve Ellis and Roger Daltrey are two of my four favorite singers from any era. Gary Puckett who at age 81 is still alive and performing and Scott Walker RIP. I always wondered whatever happened to the beautiful young woman in the Everlasting Love Video with the Bob Fosse esque hand movements. She would be in her 70 s if still alive.
So great to find this. They are totally normal blokes, none of this nonsense we get from pop "stars" now. And real men. Can't say that about Sam Smith.
Steve Ellis, Original British Soul Legend, Modfather and Voice of the Love Affair oh you're very welcome Steve! I even use it as my alarm see mornings - it's good to start the day off with a giggle!
It was my mum and dads pinky and perky album that introduced me to love affair, doing their version of rainbow valley.if I remember correctly they also did Cliff Richards celebrations and some Beatles songs.
@Jason Clarke 🤣 Your mum and dad must be my age group as I too had (and still have!) the Pinky and Perky LP, but I was already a fan of Love Affair. Don't know how or why I ended up with Pinky and Perky but they weren't a patch on Steve and the lads. This is brilliant seeing Steve and Roger - just a couple of mates chatting about the good old days!
Beverley R I was born in 1974 and my parents had me later in life,my mum being 40 and my dad 45 so I was lucky enough to be able to listen to all their records, from the 50s 60s and 70s which is probably a bit odd for someone my age 🤔 I was lucky enough to see the seekers a few years ago in Bournemouth and Judith Durhams voice was just as good as it sounded back in the 60s.
@@jasonclarke7422 Well Jason I'm a fair bit younger than your mum and dad then, because I became a teenager the year you were born! But it's not odd that you grew up with the music your parents liked - my daughter was born in 1988 and she was weaned on glam rock! My son was born in 1996 and he loves the Who and the Kinks. He's also a very smart dresser and agrees with me when I say if he had lived through the Sixties he would for sure have been a Mod - he gets that from me! The Sixties was the best decade for music!
Interesting, the "singing sharp" bit. I think Steve sounds absolutely spot on with that album, every track. An absolute natural instinct for soul/r&b type rock, that's what comes through. He's absolutely in the league of Rod Stewart, Steve Marriott, Chris Farlowe et al.
Like Slade faked being Skinheadf, the Who pretended to be Mods ! but at the end of the day became one of the biggest Mod bands , but Slade was never accepted by Skins , a Mean ! they liked Ska n Reggae not Rock , lol
Interesting bit of banter. But you can tell the difference phenomenal wealth makes. Ellis makes a good go of resisting becoming bitter. Daltry, the little Tory now whinging about Brexit is hilarious. Truth is , Ellis is very unlucky and underrated . That’s life folks !
Roger, Steve's golden voice is like an original vintage Vespa in mint condition. Rod Stewart always had a voice like a cheap rusty broken bicycle. Why would Steve trash himself by sounding like a crow with emphysema. Clean out your ears, they must be clogged full of wax if you thought Steve was trying to sing like Rod.

Best way i agree.

Two legends, love the London accents, when you hear their vocals you never think they are Londoners or is that just me.
It's called putting on your American soul voice
I think of them as Londoners because I grew up in that same part as them. Same accent too.
Love these two, real big talents, real nice guys too. Thank you very much.
Wow brilliant thanks for sharing that. Two very talented artists xxx
Our pleasure, Elaine!
Daltrey always seemed level headed to me. Good guy i'm thinking.
68blues level headed unless you upset him.
