- Come along for the ride as I scrape the ice off my car and head to the Sunshine State! The Northbank Riverwalk in downtown Jacksonville was just what I needed to cure the wintertime blues. Cool art, massive bridges, the Corkscrew, and amazing views of the St. Johns River!
I'm Scott. I explore, review and rate bike trails on this channel...and hopefully find a little joy in the journey. Thanks for watching!
#JoyfulTrails
It’s a beautiful city , it looked like a planet in the sky overlooking the pathway !
I like you Identifying your music selection ! 👍
Scott, you made the mad, mad,mad world of Jacksonville appear so serene and calm. Must of been your choice of music. Another great vlog, thanks
Glad you enjoyed it. Two things I noticed on the negative side were that homelessness seems to be out of control… And parking downtown was, to me, ridiculously expensive. I was going to mention those things in the video but I decided not to.
Wow, you do a very great job!!
You should have more follower!!
Thanks for this beautiful Video, my dream to life in my retirement in Jacksonville is now more visualized😊
Awesome! Thanks for the encouragement. 🙂
Excellent production! This will be in my walking near future. Krystal Burgers are comfort food! 💯 Cool to see you nearby!
Yay for Krystal! I'll have one coming out in a few weeks on the Woodbine Riverwalk. Maybe we can meet up when I do Jekyll Island. Not sure when that will be...
@@joyfultrails let me know and I will try and figure it out. You’d like a short 3 mile trail in Richmond hill we just posted. It’s called JF Gregory Park.
Awesome job ! I love the music and videography!
Thank you! I appreciate that.
Another good video. You ought to do a list of the past years trails from 5 stars to 1 star rating
Good idea! Maybe I could use that as my year-end wrap up at the end of 2024…
nice. really cool camera work at the end. as a fair weather cyclist, right choice.
Thanks! 👍
When I was 18, I could get lunch at White Castle and put gas in my Beetle with just $5. Man, I miss those days.
Yes! Those were the days...
I retired down here October, '23. Time to break out the bike! :) Good video!
Thanks!
I live in Jacksonville aka “DUUVAL” and your video made it look fantastic but I know better 😆. They are making a trail through the city called “The Green Emerald Trail” so you need to come back when they finish. They have also built a multi million dollar skate park under the bridge with the switch backs.
@@sk8jim thanks for the info… Yes, I definitely need to go back... I will admit that I was a little taken aback by what appeared to be a very significant homeless problem in Jacksonville. I decided not to include that in the video. But the Riverwalk was beautiful and a lot of fun.
@@joyfultrails true story on the homeless and what not, but the river walk is definitely very nice and they are slowly improving it each day. Thanks for showing the nice side of the city.
Lynyrd Skynyrd, limp bizkit ,Molly Hatchet,Shinedown,The Allman Brothers Band,,Yellowcard. we have a lot of great bands its a nice city but one thing jacksonville does not have is alot to do for fun .
Jacksonville is an underrated place. I used to live there. It certainly has its problems, but so do many cities.
Agreed. I was only in town for a couple of days, and there were two negatives that I noticed (but didn't feel the need to mention in the video). 1) Homelessness seems to be a terrible problem downtown and 2) parking is very expensive! But overall I had a very enjoyable visit. The river makes everything beautiful.
We walked some of the Riverwalk when we were in Jacksonville. But what I really want to know, where did you get that Bigfoot shirt. That is great. Good job in Scott.
Ha! I scarfed that pic up from the Internet…
You made the right decision to come to Jacksonville instead of Chattanooga. Florida is the place to be when it's cold outside. Most Florida visitors head to Orlando or Miami without stopping but Jacksonville is a great place to be. We have more parks and preserves than any other city in US total of 337. You never run out of places to go here. Great introduction of Jacksonville. It was fun to watch. 👍
Thanks! By the way, your videos on the Jacksonville-Baldwin trail inspired me to ride that one. I'll have a video coming out on that trail in a few weeks.
Great videography and music. My cousin lives in Jacksonville so I think I need to plan a visit. Thanks for these great trail snapshots!
No problem! Thanks for watching...
🇨🇦 Amazing filming skills
Thank you! My 360 camera really comes in handy… 😉
Nice video! You should have stopped and visited Memorial Park which is downtown in the Riverside neighborhood, it's big, and very beautiful, and on the river. You would have enjoyed riding there much more, with better footage. I dont know, but I don't consider your ride much of a trail though.(I've lived in Jax for over 17 years now). But it loks nice enough. There are lots of other trails in Jax for walking/biking. Thanks for sharing your lovely video with great shots. 👍
@@nikkix3993 Thanks! I also did a video on the Jacksonville-Baldwin rail trail while I was there.
I really loved that downtown Riverwalk…the scenic views of the river and the variety of sights. Maybe I can check out Memorial Park in the future.
🚴♂👍👍
What camera are you using. You and or it are awesome.
Thanks! This entire video was shot on an iPhone14 and an Insta360 x3. The 360 cam is what gets the cool perspective and almost acts as a low-flying drone. I use the iPhone in cinematic mode for a lot of the off-bike shots.
Also, the mega-wide drone shots are from a stock footage site.
Would you ever consider doing a short video w/o all the editing and effects? Just a plain Jane type so we can compare to your regular ones.
I’m not sure exactly what you mean. I did a “Virginia Creeper Trail in 5 Minutes” video at the end of last year that was just footage & music… Is that what you mean?
@@joyfultrails Also w/o using the weird camera angles and overhead shots, just something like a POV shot from a chest or handlebar mounted battery.
I've watched several of your videos - just curious, what model/make is your bike? Is it an ebike?
It is not an e-bike. It’s a Townie 7-D Men’s Step-over. I’ve really been thrilled with it. Hi admittedly, don’t know much about the technical aspects of bikes. But it’s very comfortable, keeps me in an upright position (which I like) and it’s very solid and well-built.
@@joyfultrailsVery cool. I started riding a few years back at the beginning of a weight loss journey and the local bike shop put me in a trek verve 2 low step for the ease of getting on and off for a large guy. Mine is also upright. Love the videos. Keep them coming. I was just in Jacksonville over the new year (without my bike) and wish I had spent time down at the river at least walking.
So how short is it?
Well, I didn't clock it...but the internet says the Northbank Riverwalk is 2 miles each way, 4 miles out and back. But you can actually ride across one of the big bridges and ride a Southbank Riverwalk as well...but it's even shorter. There are, however, several trails in the area. The next day I rode 32 miles on the nearby Jacksonville-Baldwin Rail Trail. That'll be a future Joyful Trails episode. :)
Bro you do quality work, but you gotta chill with the "stolen election" zingers etc, if you ever want to grow these videos past 372 views....
I gotta keep it real. When I'm writing scripts, I just say what comes to mind. I realize I won't be everyone's cup of tea. But my audience is 90% men and mostly 55 and over. In other words, BASED. Like me.
I've only been focusing on the channel for less than a year...and so far it has 140,000 views and 11,000 watch hours. I think it's doin' alright...
"Keeping it real" 😂😂😂 okay....
I love your videos and the zingers (especially stolen election). Keep them up and your channel will continue to grow. 👍
You’re hilarious and you produce awesome videos. 👍
