In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.
“I sleep with a lot of dads” 😂
I know the first season is always tricky but her banter deserved so much more laughter!!!
She was hilarious but it feels like the other contestants either ignored her or just talked over her it’s very ofd
🤐 😏
She has so many fantastic lines, but her delivery is so deadpan that it's easy to miss or get passed over--especially with someone as loud and demanding of attention as Guy. Paul gets it, though. I would love a supercut of his expressions of quiet delight in response to her humor.
She’s my favorite and it’s hard watching no one get her humor
She’s the best
Jesus christ the zoom in on Paul while his brother plays a horror film soundtrack on a toy violin is amazing! Paul did a bang up job of not being Alex while still doing the job of being Alex perfectly.
Paul is my favorite assistant out of the international taskmaster versions
Paul not being Alex while doing the job of Alex is a perfect description of Paul.
yeah hes def good, i like the toms in the aussie version as well
just found out they’re brothers omg ???
@@alexanderrojas4546 I've only seen UK, AU, and NZ so far, but yes, Paul is great. He seems to be quite a bit snarkier than Alex o.o
Guy smashing the guitar to bits while Paul angrily tells him to get out gives me such insight into how they grew up 😂
Ooh right! They are brothers.. that indeed makes sense..
I feel like Paul might have even had that exact keyboard as a child and sat there plunking away the same way while Guy just bounced and yelled his 'music'. 🤣
Okay, "I sleep with a lot of dads" and "But if you had it, how would you get rid of it?" were f'in brilliant.
Angella was such a delightful surprise! She's a top 10 personal all-time favorite contestant and she elevates a fun but fairly average season.
I'm gonna be honest, I still don't know if Angella's cake has an actual egg in it or if it's just made from eggs.
She means the chicken is carrying an egg and that egg is cake
It has an egg made of rice krispies inside, right?
The Rice Krispies comment came right as they were cutting it off!@@jamesgarfield4842
I'm convinced it was a real chicken, with a cake egg, and she only started calling the chicken cake after everyone else did.
Edit: after getting to the end, it looks like real chicken, covered in frosting and corn syrup?
The chicken cake has an egg cake inside of it. if you cut it open there is a ricecrispey egg inside the chicken cake.
I can just TASTE that immaculate energy only siblings could evoke from Guy and Paul even in the studio surrounded by other people 😂
As a fellow little brother, Paul is gives off strong Little Brother "Get out of my room!" vibes when he stops Guy from destroying the desk.
Again I am forced to ask, is the grass in New Zealand made of knives?
Apparently so...
I could not understand why the balloon popped every time it landed on grass
@@prakharchaurasiya8107 Apparently grass is basically made of razors in NZ.
That's prairie grass for ya
don't be stupid.
It's made out of needles.
"the unfortunate thing is the rice crispies ..."
wait, what? she got cut off there!
Angela's balloon attempt was such a rollercoaster... i went from thinking she was doomed, to thinking she was an absolute genius, to seeing the greatest failure ever 😂
"F*ck the western world, we´re China!" That was the best musical performance i have ever seen on any Taskmaster. Funny, "true", with nice melody and great singing! Chapeau!
Nothing beats "I'm always seeing you do cool stuff", but this definitely is a rousing anthem.
@@Outwhere That is close second place for sure, but i love political cabaret and that anthem was right up my alley!
My favourite will always be Laura's 'Calendar Day'.
This is indeed good, but far from "The ballad of the toothless goon".
China.
Cant wait to see NZ season 2 on this channel. Its one of my favorite season across all Taskmaster shows. Hope to rewatch it again soon here. :D
hahaha i just made a comment along similar lines. the rap from s2 lives rent free in my brain 😂
S2 is currently being released weekly to Taskmaster SuperMax+, so presumably will be posted to TH-cam when all of S1 is up.
@@kaycemDavid climbing in the ceiling for the balloons was pretty epic too! What a bizar guy he is😅
I completely agree!
I feel like S1 is a perfect preparation for it tho, getting used to Paul & Jeremy as well as the mix of New and UK tasks- and then once you're settled in, David Correos comes in to be an absolutely bonkers human being.
It’s so funny seeing new viewers complain about Jeremy’s scoring. He does eventually get a bit better at explaining his reasoning, but yeah it’s ROUGH sometimes 😅😂
The worst is him picking on Justine Smith like it's light hearted ribbing while she gets more and more upset, I never have understood why no producer or something pulled him aside and was like "Hey, she's not finding this funny, can you give her a break?"
Yeah, I feel like I read somewhere before that he was the worst part of the New Zealand version, and I think I'm understanding where they were coming from with that
Even Greg Davies couldn’t get the scoring right at first
Well yeah, that's because his scoring is bland and not funny at best and downright insulting at worst.
I'm not sure he understood his job. It's like he was trying to make the scoring section actively boring.
@@Pikaton659 he gets better. Just in the first season he didn't get the vibes at all
Appreciation comment on the bit of Paul's stand up that makes the opening banter. The gentle double reversal of expectation that goes from 'business folding' to 'outstanding payments'. Kudos to that joke's writer.
"This is not that kind of yeast you were thinking of..."
"But if you had it how would you get rid of it?"
Angela is the kiwi counterpart of Sam Campbell, I just love their deadpan sense of humour so much.
"I sleep with a lot of dad's" did not get nearly the laughs it deserved. One of my all time favorite tm lines and not just because I too am a fatherf*cker
Was not expecting episode 2 to come across so soon, but I will not complain one bit!!
I wonder if they want to get this whole season posted before the next New Year’s Treat.
Same haha
@@bondfool they still have NYT 23 to upload I think
Oh a new episode, just what I needed to relax and forget about the more serious stuff, like child soldiers and the tensions between the west and China
I hear ya brother, I just broke both my guitar and ukelele in a tragic table-based accident 😔. thank god we have taskmaster to distract us in the distressing times
My puppy just died, impaled in an extremely sharp blade of grass. Glad to have this episode to take my mind off it
Can't wait to turn off my worries and watch this episode; I'm a big chicken about medical stuff and just got diagnosed with an egg-sized tumor, plus my kidneys have been described as a "national park full of boulders"
All of this is hysterical 😂😂😂😂
This is a few days earlier than expected
SHHHH DONT say anything! If Greg & Jeremy find out LAH & PW will get punished in the regulation manner!
It’s also something like 3 years old. A lot of views have already been had.
That's what your mom said
edit: I'm an adult...
This is on TH-cam up to season 4 lol
Maybe it's already Thursday in NZ. Who knows how time works.
What the fuck is New Zealand grass made of?? I've never seen a balloon instantly pop by contact like that.
In Hawaii some of the grass was very prickly, during the dry season but then you had plants like 'sleeping grass' which moves when you touch it, and it has thorns.
For real!
I also wonder if the balloon is very inflated so it would be more likely to pop when hitting the ground
The grass is just grass. But New Zealand rubber is very weak.
It was a huge surprise. I’m used to UK Taskmaster’s balloons, which can seemingly stop bullets
Unite The People With the Spirit of the Country of Libya might be one of the funniest and unhinged scenes in all of taskmaster. Absolutely epic.
I can't find it on Spotify yet 😢
Just wait until you hear the musical task in season 2
Hella rousing though ey?
8:25 you just know if it were Alex he would’ve dropped it immediately once he heard guy say the phrase instead of holding back to only say it at the correct time 😅 I was kind of expecting it tbh, but didn’t happen
All I can say is "Let there be dark"
36:30 When live show Guy sang over recorded Guy, it was this beautiful gregorian chant interval like a fifth. Best anthem that I can't stop singing
“is it culturally insensitive for me to say that is one of the worst things?”- no, im mexican and i genuinely have no idea what that was meant to be
The half point is making me so uncomfortable 😂
it would drive Alex crazy if Greg ever did that
Oh God I just realised it I feel sick I can't breathe
@@OwlRTA i'm surprised he hasn't yet, just for that.
Watch out for Angella, she's the star of that season.
She is a trip!!
Madeline seems like the “smart one” to me, but maybe not in a way especially conducive to TM success. I could see Angela succeeding. Guy I’m convinced will fail miserably.
@@jessehammer123 Guy is definitely the "Failed task successfully" contestant.
I think Leigh is pretty great, Brynley performs brilliantly as well.
I so love how this is finally available on the official channel!
Is no one going to comment on how the balloons get smacked with all kind of objects and are perfectly fine but they all hit the grass and immediately pop?? Grass must be made of glass in New Zealand lol
Most types of grass will pop a well inflated balloon, especially when it's that long
I thought the same thing! I was like, how pointy is New Zealand grass? 😂
Grass is kinda sharp, you can get a rather deep skin cut off any grass, so a balloon popping on it is not strange.
I've learned watching Keepy Uppy on Bluey that Australia and NZ have knife-infused grass
If you watch carefully - you can see their breath so it seems to have been quite cold during that task. I'll bet the grass was actually frozen and so those balloons were hitting sharp blades of ice... Just a guess. I have experienced grass that was so frozen - it crunched under my feet.
The grass is always sharper in New Zealand.
Ah Guy Williams or as I like to call him, Taskmaster NZ’s Iain Sterling. /j. love him he’s a good sport and you can tell he clearly loves watching what everyone else does and says.
His Libya song was awful, but surprisingly catchy.
THAT'S who he reminds me of, you're so right
He’s controversial but I love him. He calms down later on and I think he’s definitely playing it up here for some reason, I think he was over compensating a little bit, this is the first recording after all.
@@nothere9295I’m not familiar with him outside of these episodes but I feel like a lot of his behavior is just him messing with his little brother. Which I respect a lot
I feel a bit bad for him because he’s trying WAY too hard in this ep, but to be fair, everyone except for the bald dude and the Alex equivalent comes off as fairly unlikable so far
Brynley was amazing in that balloon task, running back and forth across the field with random items like a dog with a stick.
And then failing SO QUICKLY xD Omg. I'm just watching because I adore Madeleine Sami but this show is actually genius
Guy somehow reminds me of that dude who played football in high school 30 years ago and still tells people how great he was at football.
Two episodes in & the leaf blower has appeared twice. Love the relationship between Paul & Angella; the awkwardness is so relatable. Leigh & Brinley's songs sounded like they were being held captive. Madeleine was clearly a collaborator of the regime though Guy's property damage makes me wonder if contestants get billed for that stuff.
if this is your first time watching this season and you like the paul/angella dynamic so far then boy are you in for a treat
@@CrazyStalkerPerson I've seen a few clips before but seeing the full episodes has added so much context. Love it so far.
Angellas prize task in this episode never fails to make me laugh 😂😂😂
She never did get to explain about the Rice Krispies.
Her prize tasks are excellent.
Still not clear about the igg, ay.
I worry that that half point is going to bother me for the rest of this series lol
I finished binge-watching the original taskmaster. The New Zealand edition is perfect timing
can't wait for episode 8 of this series because of that one task
Watched this series already but happy to watch again, the Kiwis seem like a good laugh. Leigh especially has stolen my Hart. (Sorry 🤪) Much love from a rainy and grey Scotland folks, hope you all have a good week! 🏴❤🌍❤🇳🇿
Kiwi version is the only non-British I like. Aussie and Us version were complete and utter trash imo.
@@im.meghanthe Norwegian version is good too
@@KL-ol8xf I'll have to give it a try.
@@im.meghan not seen the Aussie one yet (or the Norwegian one for that matter) but can't agree more about the American version. An absolute 💩 show. 😄❤😁
@@im.meghanNo idea what you're talking about, the Australian one was great! Big yes about the 'murrican one though, completely wrecked the format as they always do and screwed it all up.
The timing is perfect here, I was finally ready for some fun and a song about Libya.
I love NZ Taskmaster - they truly understand the assignment
Angela is to innocent for this world. She seems so timid, but somehow exhumes confidence with everything she does.
Exudes! I hope she doesn't exhume anything 😅
Don't get fooled, she's an absolute badass. An adorable badass!
Oh, please revisit your comment at the end of the season.
The Angella/Paul dynamic is such a highlight of this series for me
Babushka dolls? matryoshka dolls, a babushka is a granny🤣
They did the same mistake in the British Taskmaster. You'd think they do some research.. Or at least someone from the huge production crew would know.
@@buskergirl must have missed that one!
@@phonotical They had to prepare a "babushka" meal, meaning, three course meal, one inside the other. Don't know which season/episode it was, but I kept thinking they should just wrap it in a square headscarf. 😁
@@buskergirl 🤣🤣🤣 dead on
41:59 Madeleine was robbed there. Her map was the best one! She's my favorite so far this series.
i could see 2nd, but yes putting her 4th was really random, but this is Jeremy for you.
@@mremumerm I'm trying not to view it as how Greg would assign points, but it's quite difficult 😅
TEAM MADELEINE! She's creative, witty, funny, but also kind and compassionate, not to mention drop-dead gorgeous and a fantastic singer. Loved her in Deadloch.
I honestly love the different attitude to their respective assistance.
Greg would've physically assaulted Alex for that opening banter XD
The fact I got so mad when they said "read the hobbit trilogy" really shows how far my anger management skills still have to go
I've never read the books or watched them movies but even I know it's not called the Hobbit trilogy lmao
@@bigbird4481 there are three hobbit movies so it is technically a trilogy BUT there is only one book, so you can watch the trilogy but you can't read it :)
'Sorry... I sleep with a lot of dads' 😂😂😂 I missed Angella
I know Guy and Paul are brothers, but are Guy and Iain Stirling perhaps also long lost brothers?
Madeline was fantastic this episode. What a force!
Are they trying to get NZ S1 out before the New Years Treat?
Also, that Hobbit Trilogy comment was blasphemous!
Everyone looks like they just walked out of a Miami night club in the early 80s
This is my first time seeing the host in anything before but why does he look like if John Cena and Ted Danson had a baby.
You are the first person who said Ted Danson! I was starting to think I was crazy cos everyone sees John Cena lol
I see it 😂
Why do 4 of the 5 balloons pop as soon as they hit the ground? Is New Zealand grass made of needles? I usually think of Australia as being full of the deadly things but omnipresent razor ground would suck.
Yeah it's really spiky, same as in Australia (there's a whole Bluey episode about keeping a balloon off the ground to stop it bursting)
I don’t know who’s the older brother but every interaction between Paul and Guy is just brother annoying brother. And I think that’s magical.
Damn is everyone from NZ just really musically talented? Legit wish these guys got the 'TM: The Musical' task that was wasted on the UK Series 6 cast.
Edit: And I spoke too early. I think most of my point still stands tbf🤷♂
Can I remind you of Mark and Nish & Sally, Aisling and Bob?
@@davimurph not to be 'that guy', but I feel like Nish is the only truly talented musician out of those five, and credit to him because he and Mark made a masterpiece (it's legit my favourite task attempt of all time); Sally and Aisling are by no means good singers, but their voices did go weirdly well together.
The series 11 cast is pretty musical though; Charlotte is a singer, Mike can jam out the TM tune somewhat well on a balalaika and Sarah plays (or did play) bass guitar.
@@iliketrains3495 feel free to be that guy. You make some excellent points.
I was very disappointed with Taskmaster: the Musical because Tim Vine is also a musician and I expected better from him.
At long last, I can finally listen to "Unite the People with the Spirit of the Country of Libya" anytime I want
Are you ready for some fun, and a song about Libya!!
Wth. Episode two is just Angella explaining her prize task?! 😂😂😂 🐣🐓🎂
Madeline in the tuxedo while holding a leaf blower lives in my head rent free lol love her way her brain works!!!
Love the energy between Angella and Paul
They really need / deserve a bigger / more warmed up studio audience. Like some of the lines are bangers but no one reacts.
Man, Angella is just the best.
"I don't even know what show I'm on" - possibly my all-time funniest thing anyone has ever said in-studio, makes me crack up every time
Absolutely! It's probably my favorite quote from this series.
So nice to finally watch these episodes without obnoxious organ music interrupting it halfway through
the chicken cake explanation has me in tears
That China/Dad joke was pure gold
I think I'm ready for a song. A song about Libya.
The Libya song lives rent free in my head.
Man, I am not from NZ. I do not understand the cultral relevance of Jeremy Wells. I am baffled by the fact that they went with looks instead of comedic ability. I would have used Guy Montgomery. That dude would be an excellent Taskmaster.
All i know is, if i email paul and i dont get an authentic, personally folded origami, im gunna be heated.
Thank you for not making us wait to watch it illegally elsewhere. I’ll always choose to watch taskmaster with ads on this channel
New idea for a drinking game: down a shot every time Leigh hit his hid on the shid, ay.
I had finally gotten Madeline's national anthem out of my head, and now this episode is uploaded. Not the worst earworm to have though.
I really like Angella but she also looks a lot like my wife so I might be biased
I love angela's energy 😂
If you want to get some better insight into Jeremy - check out old episodes of "Eating Media Lunch" and MTV NZ. The latter was given a shout-out by Jeremy by the introductory banter he had with Paul. Jeremy had a nickname of "Newsboy" when he co-hosted with Mikey Havoc.
Angela is absolute gold. Good thing she‘s funny enough for two people because Guy is trying his hardest to not be funny
Wasnt expecting to get episode 2 so early. But ill take it, because that means more tm quicker and even more important nz season 2 sooner hopefully.
Paul definitely forgot to start the timer for Angela's vase task.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the creative genius('s) who came up with the vase task?
Everything works in this version except the "task master" the character doesn't work. I don't know what it is exactly, but it's missing.
Agreed. Very weak.
He improves as time goes along.
He's a news presenter and not a comedian like in the English version. He does improve as time goes on but I agree he's the weakest link in taskmaster nz
He doesn't have that "This is MY show" vibe. It seems the panel dominates more than the host, and the crowd seems broken as well. Like they're trying to keep the funny parts funny, but failing
@@MorizonPlaysHe used to be a comedian.
Is no one going to point out that New Zealander made a Hobbit reference in the context of reading a book, and said "Hobbit Trilogy"? Surely she must have heard a little of the controversy. She was so aware of controversy about China. There was no Hobbit Trilogy. The Hobbit, a relatively short book, was stretched out by New Zealander Peter Jackson into 3 movies with a lot of filler stuffed in it.
I was searching for this comment, thought the same! 😂
Oh my god the prize task 😂
What came first, the chicken, the egg, or the cake? (Which is a lie)
I’m new to watching the NZ version so I’m not familiar with the contestants. Is Guy putting on an act or is he just a jerk? I was annoyed when he broke the instruments on the desk after being told not to damage the desk. The arrogant act, if it is one, is uncomfortable.
On a positive note I do like all the other contestants.
He's kinda just a jerk, although it's heightened to be "funny" because he is literally Paul's brother so he's trying to be as big of a nuisance as possible. It's annoying brother energy, and it doesn't actually seem very funny to most people (Understandably). The other four are terrific!
@@johnnyjohnson6643 Thanks for the explanation. Makes it clearer. Who knows, maybe if I watch enough episodes I won’t feel as negative about him.
That is some spiky grass. Surprised all the balloons popped as soon as they touched down 😮
Guy in his red outfit in the thumbnail kind of looks like Ian Sterling.
Three of five contestants completely miss the second half of the task? This is the kind of quality content I love to see in Taskmaster 😂
NZ Alex is great, but the taskmaster has zero charisma. No chemistry with Paul, the contestants or the audience. Also, Paul's brother should be locked up somewhere, he is a weirdo and not in the funny way.
Lee clearly just hot glued a nozzle to some fake books, that is NOT a box of wine XD
I fully believe you can take the pouch out of the box and ram it into some fake books. And I think that might be what happened here.
Yes!!!! So happy for the NZ episodes are getting uploaded - love them so much
"Aiming for the Netherlands" "The democratic republic of the Congo"
Dodged a bullet there, if she'd said Belgium you'd be in trouble
Y’all are too good to us, Paul is my fave second assistant. Only losing to Alex of course.
I did not know there was another Taskmaster show until recently. I am so glad I am able to watch this one as well!
Guys anthem was the only one that was a actual anthem, it inspired people to sing along. Should be top marks, honestly.
Honestly, I don't know any of them. But the Kiwi slang and accent make it all worthwhile. It's just as funny as the original.
This host has the personality of wallpaper.
I'm really enjoying this series!!!!!! Thanks so much for uploading this to TH-cam!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤ from the UK
Guy's Song About Libya lives rent free in my head and always makes me laugh when my brain decides to randomly think about the song
7:02, Wait... I didn't know getting half a point was possible!
everything is possible in New Zealand.
For a second, I thought Morgana was given half a point during the Series 12, Episode 1 stage task. But it was only for within the task, not the points from winning.
I have watched The OG Taskmaster so much that I was expecting the balloon to be filled with helium😂
I dont think greg davies can be topped, this guy just empodies the task master. The NZ guy just doesn't tickle my fancy, doesn't have that anger or emotion
