I will forever admire his dedication to wearing all grey the entire season so that he could wear colour on the last episode just to say "it was all looking a bit grey"
Makes sense too as he's a jobbing accountant
I love everyone's reactions to the "are you a child of divorce?" line - it was completely unexpected which made it all the more hilarious.
I totally think he had an actual question until Greg said that, and then he just saw his opportunity to ask a totally left-field question.
That’s how comedy works
@@6022 Left-field? I think it was a sensible question. Anybody who 'wants' to be a police officer should never be allowed to do so. Anybody who is huge and 'wants' to bully people on tv must be overcompensating for some sort of childhood trauma.
I was in the audience for that episode, and I'm so glad it was, that entire task was chaos 😂😂
For me it was the fact that it's one of the only times I've seen Julian properly crack up 😂
He always gives the impression that he starts a sentence without really knowing where it’s going 😂
Or in other words improvisation
yeah but u can improvise in a really intelligent way...and I'm just not sure sometimes Sam knows where he's going....?
One of the best creative thinkers ever on Taskmaster. His joke about how everyone was telling a story is pure genius.
His prize task submission for 'greatest thing that makes quite a loud noise when you shake it' might be my favourite prize ever.
A bucket lined with sandpaper and filled with matches and fire alarms.
Just brilliant.
Sam Campbell is like an Australian Bob Mortimer, he knows that his story telling is funny as hell and will take every opportunity to spin a yarn or tell a true story and you often can't tell which is which.
I watched some of his stand up and not my cup of tea at all but his unscripted banter and interactions with the others on taskmaster has me laughing out loud.
Edited to say I just watched his 2022 Sydney 'companion' special and I take the comment about his stand up back. 🤣
@@jedfra9172 He seems like someone you'd want to be friends with just to witness the hijinks.
I’d never heard of Sam before the show, yet within episode 1 of ‘are you a child of divorce’ I knew he’d be a classic - series 16 was one of the best ever
Everyone in Australia has a friend at some point in their life like Sam. He is so very Aussie in his sense of humor
Really?! Dude is so left field for me. I watched this series to see what he'd do next. Astonishing.
Agreed!!
@@FemaleAussieJackali always love australian comedians, because i find that a lot of australian people just generally have a great sense of humour anyway, so the ones that do it for a living are particularly funny.
@@occularpatdown He sports a very particular Australian humor. Just embrace the absolute weirdness.
"online"....... one of the best delivered lines ever.
Sam is one of the few contestants (along with Lucy) who consistently make Alex break character.
Seemingly, but Alex said in an interview that he realized people like it when he breaks character so he will now let himself laugh more.
@@BeccaB529 !YEET YE 😂IST GÖÜD MON🇳🇱🇯🇲
I’ve no idea why him slightly standing off his chair and saying “cobalt “ is so funny but Damn 😂 he was one of my faves ever for sure, he’s so unique and genuinely strange
That's why he had me from Pinocchiooooooo. Child of Divorce just sealed the deal, and all in episode 1.
And his backup story and the 'I just bought it online' were fantastic
Underrated moment when Sam says "the first Samurai to move will often be slain" and Alex is just so shocked because he has genuinely no idea where this is going
'Child of divorce' is in my top 10 TM lines, sitting with Paul Chowdhry's, 'Bastard's cryin', innit.'
my favourite aspect of a comedian is unpredictability... and for most of this season, I had no idea what Sam was going to say or do next. Loved every moment of him.
Yeah 😂😂. Lucy was also very unpredictable. 🤣
@@nii_amartshe threw a poo out the window! I would have never guessed that!
Absurdist comedy, I guess it is. Another Australian comedian who has been very funny on some British panel shows with that style of humour is Sam Simmons. 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown especially, which I think both Campbell and Simmons have been on
I saw his live show in Melbourne tonight - it was completely unhinged batshit genius hilarity
“It’s just exciting to know people are talking about me” so real 💀
i desperately need to see sam on Would I Lie To You
Oh yes! He would be phenomenal
26 Jan, I think!
@@larrikins6380 - Thanks for the heads up and you're right - according to Wiki he's scheduled to be on it in a few weeks!
@@larrikins6380 amazing news!! Thanks so much!
you're welcome!@@PeteBaldwin
I used to play in an indoor soccer team with Sam. One night I was dropping him home after a game, he made some joke from the back seat. My other friend said 'I dunno about that joke Cambo, that's a pretty long bow'. He was quiet for a beat and then said 'The longer the bow, the further the arrow flies'. I damn near crashed the car, I laughed so hard.
I love this so much.
What does long bow mean in the first context? I was expecting "low blow" but I've not heard "long bow", is it just a play on words?
@@artyb27 im not 100% but im pretty sure it means whatever he said is exaggerated
This is the most Sam Campbell joke of all time.
The fact that you use the term "soccer" instead of "football" makes me believe you really did drove Sam home
Sam's little grin when Greg scratches his cheek like a puppy is the most adorable thing.
i loved all he done but the Planne story for Cobalt, followed by "OnLInee" and Julian breaking is my outright fave moment
That coupled with Greg's slow blink
@@DanielDiaz-um1xdhe can for sure still tap into that teacher look 😂
That scornful 'Wow!" on the bins game killed me
I dont think ive ever laughed harder than "are you a child of divorce"
Honestly one of the funniest lines in TM history. The delivery was perfection.
Sam is one of my all time favourites on the show. Perhaps only Bob has made Greg and Alex (and the other contestants) laugh more?
I think Lucy is up there, too. But with Sam, it's like they're so proud of him at the same time. It's so cute.
Lucy worries Greg, in the way that she might need a nurse to follow her around and stop her hurting herself. Sam worries Greg too, but in the sense that he ought to be followed by a policeman so he doesn't hurt other people.
@@jess_ismore With Greg you can see the old school teacher come out in him whenever Sam is doing a bit. He's remembering those pupils who were unruly, but funny and endearing at the same time.
@@QuantumHistorianyes😭😭
As others have said: Lucy is up there in the weirdness.
What an absolute delight he was, and truly best of luck to his champions of champions other contestants because he's a smart player and you could tell just how much Alex and Greg liked him
love a good spoiler
@@VampiresAreRealGuys Mate, this whole video is a spoiler
"I just feel I didn't make the most of my time there."
90% of the people in Heaven when looking at the Earth.
@@KickassUncle oh you're a religious nutter, your other comments make sense 🤣
@@scladoffle2472 i don't think it's very religiously well received to imply that those who abstain from worldly pleasures will regret it once they ascend 😂
I think Sam was one of Greg's favorite contestants. Their interactions were all hilarious and Greg was clearly always so bemused!
and Alex's - I've never seen Alex laugh so much at one of the contestants - loved it all
I love this cut because you get to see all of Sam’s different gray outfits :)
"Smoking Kills .... Weaklings!" is not there.
The fact that Sam regretted his trip to Croatia because he didn't make the most of his time there 😂😂😂
The hand gesture he was doing right as he said that was also kind of funny lol
I can't believe Doctor Cigarettes wasn't in this video
Smoking kills....weaklings! Is one of the greatest comedic moments to ever occur in human history
Both him and the comrodery of that five people are what made this series great. Never knew all of them before it but they were so together in all of it
The choatic team of three running their hotel was peak TM camaraderie.
Throughout the series, never in a million years did I think I would be able to guess anything Sam was going to say or do 😂
His TH-cam-special (COMPANION) is a work of art. True comedic genius. He's a rare talent, I hope he gets all the love he deserves. No matter where I've seen him, he's always incredibly funny & unpredictable.
Looking forward to eventually seeing Sam Campbell on a Champion of Champions installment...
Sam is a wonderful example of how Australian and British humour melds so beautifully, the Americans like to call us cousins but I feel far more of an affinity with our Aussie mages...him and Lucy together was genius....😁👍🇬🇧
One of my favourite seasons. I wasn't massively excited when the lineup was announced, just because I wasn't familiar with a few of the guests, but it turned out to be one of the best ever.
Sam calling Sue and Susan chicks was funny as they both thought it was really weird, but it's more common in Australia so Sam just thought it was normal.
Sam and Lucy’s podcast is going to be chaotically confusing and hilarious. Can’t wait
God I hope this is true. Their conversations will be like the things you heard in a smoking shelter 15 years ago
God that cobalt bit is so incredible
"online" is to this day one of the funniest things to happen on Taskmaster. Because the whole bit of telling an unrelated story is great on its own, but "online" is just something that sounds written than improvised. Greg asked the perfect question, almost a written tee up but no it just happened.
you can never predict what he’s going to say to any situation, he’s outstanding
I've never seen Greg and Alex laugh as much as they did in this series and mostly because of Sam
Sam Cambell is way funnier than anyone named after soup has any right to be.
Glen Baxter would like a word
And you’re not funny enough for someone who doesn’t know the difference between cambell and Campbell
@@Vaul. Well crap.
Bollocking accepted.
@@Vaul. there is nobody less funny or more annoying, than people who think pointing out simple typos has any worth. Do better.
I think you'll find his name is actually Eggerson Keavney
I love how taskmaster introduces comedians I've never heard of like Sam.. its like a great find lol
So does who do you think you are
@@ellie-tk4jy what channel does it come on ?
fly forever my angels... the awkward cuteness of it...
Sam is either that only child, or THAT middle child. 😂 Absolute legend
After this show he has very much become one of my favorite people! His humor is just so randomly sudden it’s fantastic!
What is his name? He’s hilarious! And I totally agree with you on his humour! ❤️
Are you a child of divorce (or even just 'child of divorce') should have been the episode title and that is a hill I will die on. One of the most wildly funny and out of pocket moments in any series 😂
I feel like the title would've ruined the joke. It was brilliant that it came out of nowhere.
@@GT_Walker maybe for some. But they used ‘absolute casserole’ as the ep title and that moment definitely wasn’t ruined. Sam says such an expected response in the context of the task that I think it would still have been shocking and hilarious
"the first one to move will often be slain" is so batshit crazy
Julian having a little choke after the "cobalt" story is the best, he never reacts like that, ever.
Sam would be my odds-on-favorite for TASKMASTER's fourth Champion of Champion series, as he's very artistic (post-it note 'The Scream' was incredible!) and willing to roll with whatever happens (the 'Mischief' task by Susan!).
This is one of the many reasons I love Task Master, it introduces you to new comedians who are absolutely amazing. All the contestants are great in their own ways, but Sam and Lucy were my favourites in this series.
I’d love to see him & David Correos in some sort of international Taskmaster special - I don’t know if the world could handle such utter chaos though!!!
Both very different but equally delightfully unhinged
They're unhinged in very different ways, but you're right that they'd feed off each other's weirdness. It'd be fun to watch.
truly one of the contestants of all time I love him
“Coin fever, hey?” Is underrated that made me cry when I watched it idk i don’t know why
This series was absolute bonkers. Having two absolutely chaotic people like Sam and Lucy had me on the floor in stitches.
Sam is so chaotic, I love it.
i need him BIBLICALLY.
I can’t believe the “dynamite chicks” and “smoking kills… weaklings!” bits weren’t in here. I quote them on the regular
1:09 One of my all-time favorite moments from this series.
100% That whole part, but especially the way he jumps out of his chair. It's so fucking funny
Love this guy, the Aussie humour is absolutely nuts.
His comedy sketch show had me in stitches
'anthead' and 'he doesn't like when he says his name' go through my head daily.
Found Arron Cheng through this guy too.
That story about where he used to live having nothing to do with the cobalt he had brought in 😂😂😂😂.
Alex's reaction at 6:08 is absolutely hilarious
One of my favorite contestants across all series, genuinely made me laugh every episode
This season was just cracking, Sam and Lucy sure are a treat 😂❤️
It's missing "They're dynamite chicks!"
Lucy and this guy are diamonds.
I'll often watch TM clips whilst having my lunch but Sam Campbell is too funny for that. I choked 3 times during this video before learning my lesson 😂
I think I can speak for everyone in the comments, by the looks of things - that we are all in love with him instanstly.
I actually saw him live, he was a opening act for aunty Donna, guy was hilarious, mad to see him on this
a sam campbell/aunty donna double feature sounds incredible. jealous!
I saw him live last week in Sydney, and I got to go on stage and hug him.
He is absolutely wonderful! So glad to see such a unique soul.
"Are you a child of divorce?" is one of the greatest moments ever.
Me while watching taskmaster: oh he's a total lunatic I LOVE HIM
There are three taskmaster competitors that stick out to me as being... extra entertaining. Rhod, Noel, and Sam. In any case i hope the show never ends.
Alex Horne cracks up at everything he says its so good
such a cheeky lil' funny guy, absolutely love him
I can't wait for Lucy and Sam's podcast to get going. They were so hilarious in TM! I don't remember when the podcast starts up, but I already subscribed to it.
oh boy, can't wait for his podcast with Lucy later this year
Just saw Sam on "Would i lie to you" and now I need an episode with him, bob and lucy as guests
the immediate switch to the divers story is something you'd overhear in someones kitchen at 4am. But this has been planned, and its genius
Sam and Lucy were comedy gold this season.
Wait, so he talked about hiding a beautiful golden mane being cheeky and then, in the final, he himself had blond hair?
Coincidence? I think not!
Oooo you're right! Cheeky!
Wow. Everybody is talking about this guy!
coin fever gives me the same energy as door city
Seen him live after his run on TM. He featured his prize in the show. And the show, btw, absolutely hilarious.
6:09 - one of my favourite responses by Alex haha. It seems pretty genuine!
I love the story after the cobalt prize task
One of my all time favorite contestants.
Sam feels like an alien that only studied Monty python and reeves and Mortimer to learn how to act human.
They saved those boys man
My favorite contestant ever.
I really appreciate this show for helping me discover Sam. He's fucking hilarious.
Watched every season of Taskmaster and seen some beautiful weirdos but I can safely say there's only one Sam.
"Fly forever my angels" just has me bursting cause it makes it sound like they've died lmaoo
This was a wicked good group that season.
He's a beautiful slant on life.
Sam was by far one of my favorite contestants.
I think it should also be NOBODY makes Alex Horne laugh like Sam Campbell!
series 16 was so good might be my fav
Perfect cobalt origin story.
The Pinocchio is genuinely the most terrifying item
Nobody's better at hitting my level than Eggerson Keaveney.
I was gonna mention how they’re calling him Sam Campbell for some reason when he is clearly the man, myth and legend himself Eggerson Keaveney but you beat me to it 😢
Eggerson would dominate on GBBS with his steamed eggs and gravy.
Sam is so pure he must be protected at all costs
I like this guy. He's got some crazy one-liners.
I just love how Sam completely breaks Alex. That season was like if Alex was just watching a comedy show
