Sam Campbell is like an Australian Bob Mortimer, he knows that his story telling is funny as hell and will take every opportunity to spin a yarn or tell a true story and you often can't tell which is which. I watched some of his stand up and not my cup of tea at all but his unscripted banter and interactions with the others on taskmaster has me laughing out loud. Edited to say I just watched his 2022 Sydney 'companion' special and I take the comment about his stand up back. 🤣
The airplane one with the screaming children statue, right? I still think it's the hardest I've ever laughed on Taskmaster, despite being a James Acaster and S7 loyalist.

I think he knows exactly what he’s doing and that’s the genius. It’s not contrived but it’s very intentional and he has such a brilliant way of surprising with his tangents or the sudden immediacy of an unexpected turn. It’s not traditional comic timing and more a subversion of that.

My other friend said 'I dunno about that joke Cambo, that's a pretty long bow'. He was quiet for a beat and then said 'The longer the bow, the further the arrow flies'. One of my favourite seasons. I wasn't massively excited when the lineup was announced, just because I wasn't familiar with a few of the guests, but it turned out to be one of the best ever.
His TH-cam-special (COMPANION) is a work of art. True comedic genius. He's a rare talent, I hope he gets all the love he deserves. No matter where I've seen him, he's always incredibly funny & unpredictable.
Sam is a wonderful example of how Australian and British humour melds so beautifully, the Americans like to call us cousins but I feel far more of an affinity with our Aussie mages...him and Lucy together was genius....😁👍🇬🇧
This is one of the many reasons I love Task Master, it introduces you to new comedians who are absolutely amazing. All the contestants are great in their own ways, but Sam and Lucy were my favourites in this series.
Sam calling Sue and Susan chicks was funny as they both thought it was really weird, but it's more common in Australia so Sam just thought it was normal.
Having Sam and Lucy on the show together is amazing casting. For anyone who doesn't know, they both have a podcast called Lucy and Sam's Perfect Brains and it is exactly as chaotic as you would imagine.
The most amazing thing about Campbell is that he makes Julian Clary laugh. Clary's character rarely laughs at anything, his bit is to be disgusted with everyone and everything.
Sam would be my odds-on-favorite for TASKMASTER's fourth Champion of Champion series, as he's very artistic (post-it note 'The Scream' was incredible!) and willing to roll with whatever happens (the 'Mischief' task by Susan!).
I’d love to see him & David Correos in some sort of international Taskmaster special - I don’t know if the world could handle such utter chaos though!!! Both very different but equally delightfully unhinged
