    I have a question. Firstly, allow me to thank you for this video. It has been the most detailed, informative, and helpful video I have found on this matter. Onto my question: I am currently in Turkey as a tourist with a 90-day visa and applying for my ikamet. Now that I am in the stages of touring apartments, I am worried because I don’t know what should be my move-in and move-out dates my apartment. Do I have to lease my apartment for the exact dates of my ikamet validity? I ask this because I don’t know when my ikamet appointment will be, so what if I sign an apartment lease tomorrow with the move-in date being next month, but I don’t get my ikamet appointment until TWO months from now? (i.e. what if my apartment rental officially begins BEFORE my ikamet appointment?)

    Great video! It's ashame you didn't cover the appointment side with greater depth. I heard some immigration offices have quicker appointment times depending on the city. For example in Istanbul it may take 3 months to get an appointment but in Izmir for example it could be 1 month. Please confirm if you agree?

    • @BeryIstanbulTips
      @BeryIstanbulTips  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Is totally true.
      I also experienced it during my first year in Turkey.
      I lived in a small city in the Black Sea region, I applied for my appointment, it was given just 3 days later, and 2 weeks later I received my card.
      But in Istanbul the story is totally different 😀
      Is also about luck, because just today I received the email from the Immigration Office, and my appointment was given for the 6th of September, we applied just a few days ago.
      But previous years, I waited for 1-2 months just for it.

I just wanna know what will happen if in case I apply and got an appointment 2 months away, but my visa is expiring in 2 weeks--as you said I can still travel around while waiting for the appointment, but what if I decided to leave and go home to my country? I read that if you're under 18 or over 65 you don't have to show proof of insurance. Is this true? Also, potential landlords have wanted to see my residence permit before renting me an apartment, but you have to show an address just to apply for the permit It's sort of a Catch 22.

    • @BeryIstanbulTips
      @BeryIstanbulTips  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Roger! I’m not sure about your first question, I haven’t heard anything about it to be honest, but it could be.
      In regards to the landlords, that’s quite strange, many of them already know that we are being requested to show a notarized rental contract in order to apply for our residence permit, but I don’t doubt that some just love making things harder for us.
      I hope you find a place where they’ll provide you the necessary documents without hesitation. 🙏

    Hej ;)
    I’m getting married to my Turkish Fiance next month;) because of the visas process make things difficult. So I am thinking about getting the resident permit. I’m not going to be livening there on a regular basis. Just needed it to escape the Visa process . and to see my family as I want to;)
    will they allow me to go in and out of the country if i get a resident permits;)

      Of course! But just keep in mind that by having the residence permit you can leave the country just for a certain time, otherwise, it will get cancelled. I cannot remember the exact time one can be out of Turkey on a residence permit but just make sure to ask that once you apply for it.
      Every time I travel abroad, when I come back to 🇹🇷, at passport control I only show my passport and my residence permit, no need of a visa, with that, they allow me enter. I even get in line at the section for Turkish citizens, I do not get in line at “other nationalities” section :)

    Hi.💕 This video landed on my homepage and after watching the video and reading the comments a bit, I was really confused. I am Turkish and I was born and raised in Turkey, I have been here for 22 years, I have never been abroad. And I want more than anything to run away from this country. I really don't like being here. Economic problems, hikes and taxes, bad news and injustices really bother me. Unlike me, I don't understand why so many foreign people want to come to this country. Of course, these are everyone's own lives and their own decisions. But what is the positive side and beauty of this country that I haven't seen in 22 years? Please tell me too, I really need a reason to love my country of citizenship.☹️ So if we can trade citizenship, I'd be happy to swap places with someone who wants to come here.😬

      They always say the grass is a lot greener on the other side- I think a lot of young people want to leave their country no matter where it is.
      I'm from the united states and I want to come to turkey because the culture is beautiful and everything is cheap for those who earn USD. Please understand that foreigners are not affected by politics like local Turks, we aren't affected by economic problems or injustices so it is a HUGE privilege for a foreigner to live in turkey compared to a local. I recognize that it's very unfair for us to benefit this way when locals suffer

      Hello! You need to follow this same steps, you need to apply as renewal.
      Just make sure to do the application before it expires. You should receive a message from the immigration office 60 days before your ikamet expires, then you can apply for the renewal.

And the main thing is that I don't have any residential documents. Is it compulsory to attach it. Look forward to hear from you.

      Thnk you so much for your kind words, I feel super happy to know that our videos have been able to help you 🙌
      In that case, you need to apply as a new application since you’ll be residing in Istanbul, you need to rent an apartment, sign the contract and take it to the notary, that document will be requested too.
      On the system there is an option “I lodge a transfer application for residence permit”. And it will directly send you to the section as a first time application form.
      I had the same situation when I was living in another city before Istanbul, even though my ikamet was a renewal, I had to apply as first time because I was going to change my residence to Istanbul.
      Just as a tip, as far as I have seen the appointments for the interviews in Istanbul are being given quick, mine was given for September 6th and I just applied a week and a half ago, I recommend you filling your form just a few days before your ikamet expires, that way your appointment will be AFTER your current ikamet expires.
      If you do it too soon and your appointment is given before your ikamet expires, they will not take the process. It happened to me too 😅
      So do it just 2-4 days before it expires, then you apply as a new ikamet in Istanbul.
      Hope this helps!

      @@BeryIstanbulTips i must say that people should learn something from you . What you have done for me and the humanity is just extraordinary. You so kind and humble. Words are not enough to describe your effort. I'll do the same. I will apply before 2-3 days before my ikamet expires. Thank you so much. I hope you will get 1M subscribers soon. Keep it up. Stay blessed. Ameen

    Muchas gracias :)

      For sure is not as easy as before, the ones that usually reject are first-timer applicants and if you apply as a tourist, also if you already have a residence permit issued as a tourist and you try to renew it that way, more likely is going to be rejected. So yeah! Rejected applications are quite high now plus tons of districts not just in Istanbul but also in other provinces have closed to foreigners, meaning that (if applying for the firs time) you cannot look for a house in certain areas.
