    *If you ever want to polish brass or other metal that tarnishes look online for a product called "Nevr-Dull". It's a cotton wadding in can with polishing stuff impregnated in it. Basically you rub the metal and wipe it after with a dry cloth. It's what we used in military and I've used it ever since. It's amazing, fast and doesn't make a mess.*

      Thanks for the suggestion. I never heard of it. But we have a similar product here in Portugal. Not from Portugal, I think but the most famous around: www.elcorteingles.pt/supermercado/0105228016500333-duraglit-algodao-activo-limpa-metais-75-g/

    That looks like a great thing to keep in car especially when you live in cold climates that freeze most ink pens. It's a thick line unlike traditional pencils which is more noticeable if you break down and want to leave a note on dashboard if you walk for help or just want to write something down before you forget. I found myself numerous times in winter shoving a pen in the heater vent in car to unfreeze the ink so I can write something down before I forget.

      Your comment was amazing and brought me out to a reality that is not mine... I live in Potugal, a small warm country in southwestern Europe, so I never thought of that use for a very sturdy metal pencil. But it makes sense. Thank you so much for this. I it wonderful to realise the world is so diverse and that there are always other uses that we never thought of.

      Canadian here. I know exactly what you mean! I just keep a few wood pencils for this task.

      I have no idea why I thought this but I thought you were talking about having a mental break down and just leaving notes on people's cars like "Help me, I want help." Maybe I'm up too early.

    Brass is very nice, and a nice pair, as you said. I'm not familiar with leads that large, but it looks handy for shading.

    • @OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita
      @OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, they are used mainly for sketching. Nice for shading large areas .

      Those are 5.6mm leads, great for sketching and filling in large areas in final graphite artwork.

    • @jamesduff6937
      @jamesduff6937 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John, I'm a handyman and the 5.6mm lead is great for marking timber or marking concrete or whatever- because the lead is very thick it never snaps like it would if it were a 2mm lead.

  • @bloophero

    Just bought one of these, as I already had the 0.7mm mechanical brass one, but wanted something a bit different for when I'm sketching out diagrams. I had no idea how to get the lead to drop (I wasn't firm enough when pressing the button and wasn't sure if it was a twist action), I also had no idea about the sharpener (which is nice to know). So thanks for this great review. It's funny how these Kaweco pens arrive with zero instruction (for idiots like me). I'm also now completely covered in lead/graphite, as that lead shoots out once pressed and gravity assists! 😅I wonder if I now need the fountain pen (they are such beautiful products).

    Would yo prefer it to be longer? And would you recommend over the classic Koh I Noor ?

    • @OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita
      @OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It depends. If I am sketching at home I prefer the size and balance in hand of the long Koh-i-noor (I have two metal heavy ones). For going outside, or while travelling I prefer the Kaweco. They have the same kind of feeling and building quality. It is a matter of size. Additionally, just to show off, with the Kaweco I can have a perfect matching pair with a fountain pen.

      Objectos de Escrita it would be incredible, there is none on youtube. On youtube in general it is very hard to find decent reviews of some brands, Kaweco, Koh I Noor, Worther, I can’t find as much as with lets say Staedtler. It is specially hard finding comparisons which would be very helpful when buying. It’s kind of a niche market

      I will try to do it, someday. I will try to do it as best as I can, although I'm not really sure of everything that may be important on a full pencil review, because I use them for writing and quick sketching, not for real art purposes.

    What's the point of getting one of these over the delguard or rotating mechanism on kuru toga? For functionality reasons?

    • @OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita
      @OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you get this one for larger sized or less precise sketches. It is also good if you like to carry a small pencil (in length) but undestructible (the brass construction also makes it quite heavy. For precision work the Kuro Toga gives you the extra advantage of rotating the lead to make a more consistent line during use.
      Myself... I like this one because it is a Kaweco, because it has the thick lead (5.6) and because I know I can take it in my trouser's pocket everywhere without worries of breaking it. Also, the hevay weight keeps it in the bottom of the pocket, reducing the chances of loosing it. But this is me... If I had to make a precision work I would choose a longer, lighter pencil with a thinner lead...

      @@OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita Thank you for the very detailed response.
      For now, I think I'll stick with the kuru toga. I feel like I need a little more precision as of now. I feel like this would be alot better for shading and such.
      This will be on my list though!

    An unfortunate name to American ears, as it rhymes with ketchup. Not very classy. Kaweco used to make a beautiful, larger sketch pencil in black resin, but I can no longer find it on the market.

      Sketching. I'm not good at it but it doens't stop me because I like to do it. Also sometimes I use it as an highlighter with the highlighter leads Kaweco makes for this pencil.
