It's been one year since I bought the Kaweco Brass Sport. How has it stood up and do I still like it? NOTE: @ 00:56 I say 80grams. I meant to say 40 grams...
Frank - inspired by your initial review of the Kaweco Brass Sport pen, I purchased one with a fine nib. I was blown away by how well it permormes and its writing qualities. So, I purchased a second one with a medium nib, and it worked out very well to. Ir is a smaller pen, but punched well beyond ots size, and I usually write with much larger pens, my go to pens are my Mont Blanc 149 pens!!! And in late April of 2023, I suffered 2 very severe strokes that have left my left side almost 100% paralysed and my right arm and hand somewhat affected. I these circumstances, I cant use my larger pens, but I can write with my Brass Sport pens. So thanks for your reviews of this wonderful pens
I bought my Kaweco brass sport with a fine nib but then (like you) switched to a gold plated M nib. What an amazing difference! I also got the bronze clip. Since I’m reaching the end of my pen “collection”, I seriously am thinking about upgrading to a 14k gold nib (approx $160USD). I absolutely love this pen! So, I don’t mind putting the extra $$$ in it. I’m also thinking about the same for my Lamys as well. But we’ll see! Thanks again! God bless you! 😊
I have the kaweco brass too and I love mine as well. I think like you, I love it so much I don’t either notice the smell or don’t mind it because love my EDC pen! My dad polished mine up recently and it looks like new lol, so it does polish up nice. My dad doesn’t care for patina on metal and was so proud that he made it look shiny for me again lol.
Great video thank you. I’ve had my brass Kaweco sport for about the same length of time as you, and I also swapped out the nib to the gold plated version. I use this pen every day and can’t fault it at all. Very reliable
Glad you liked it and Thank you for the kind feedback. I just dropped it on the nib the other day accidentally. Bent the tines back into place and it still writes! Indestructible...
If you want something cheap to clean the patina off the pen slather it in ketchup! I thought it was a joke but the acid from the tomatoes really cleans up the pen and gives it a great shine!
Thank you for the video. I just bought the Kaweko Al Sport Brass with a fine nib. It hasn’t even arrived yet. It’s my second fountain pen. I wanted something more pocket friendly for work.
I bought a brass Sport as a birthday gift for myself March 2022. I absolutely love it. The favorite of my 3 fountain pens by far. Its been dropped on concrete, lost in the grass for hours in the rain. Its patina definitely tells of its interesting journey with me so far. I look fondly forward to many more years of using it as well as whoever gains guardianship of it when Im gone
I love that you put it through it's paces. Good to know as I've been more rough with it lately but also trying to ginger it. Take care and have a wonderful day!
@StationeryAt4 All my gear has to be able to withstand a hard lifestyle. Whether for work or pleasure i spend a great amount of time in rugged outdoor environments. Im also a bit scatterbrained and would definitely, for example, put pen still open and notbook down on a log while i walk off to some other task and likely accidentally knock the notebook off said log when i return haha
I hope you enjoy it. I just took mine with me ice skating the other day. It met with an unfortunate drop against the ice - still going strong! Warm wishes and have a wonderful day!
I would love a brass sport, but I have the brass Supra, that is a beefy pen that can be made to be the same size as the sport but I have a No.6 nib in mine... That is my go everywhere and self-defence pen :)
I was eyeing the supra and still might pull the trigger on that. I love me a good no. 6 nib! Self-defense pen... Never thought of that! Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day
Hi there! Most stationery shops that sell Kaweco pens should have replacement nibs. I got mine from: reidstationers.com/search?type=product&q=kaweco+nib wonderpens.ca/search?q=kaweco+nib Hope that helps!
I don't actually. Although interestingly enough I was contemplating that pen vs the kaweco and what convinced me on the kaweco was the ease of nib swap. If I ever get one I'll post a video. Do you have one and if so what do you think of yours? Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day.
Will the bronze (or copper) pen clip tarnish like the pen as well? I really like how your brass sport and pen clip going together, so I get a bronze clip for mine. However, the one I receive is in a brighter tone and I find similar review on the internet. IMO it still looks better than with a gold clip, just wondering if it could be even better. Oh and the pen itself is one of the best I ever write with, it is almost obsolete to mention it deliberately.
Hi there, Thanks for stopping by. The copper clip will tarnish along with the bronze pen. Given they are different materials the colour way will be different. My copper clip looks like a burnt dark orange/brown compared to the dark mustard yellow of my bronze pen. I'm glad your enjoying your pen! Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any more questions. Take care and have a wonderful day!
Great review. Can i ask you something that is bother me. I recently bought a kaveco sport bronze and i found tha the insignia at the cap is playing slightly when i put it on the pen. It feels like it's a little loose. Does any sport of yours does it ? Thanks in advance.
Hi Tinker of Everything. Sorry for the late reply. None of my Kaweco Sports do that. I think you have a dud. Were you able to get this sorted out? Warm wishes and have a wonderful day!
STRANGE! Last night I considered swapping mine from ef to medium nib. I love the med nib so much but I write pretty small 🤔 Maybe thins is a sign tho lol
I used to think that about my choicr of nibs in that I was constrained to how I wrote. After playing around with different nib sizes I've learned that my writing style adapts quite easily. I should maybe do a video on this. Let me know how it goes for you. Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day.
I refill with syringe. I have a growing ink collection so it allows me to play around with them in this pen. How's your kaweco treating you? Have a great day.
Does it leave the Brass/metallic smell on your hands? Ive found this to be very annoying on other brass pens. Probably one of the reasons I EDC a Kaweco AL Sport in Stonewash blue. So size and features of the pen are just the same maybe the weight is different :) ……..and i should wait to comment till the end lol you cover the smell hahaha
Hi Shawn, I bought this at the Vancouver Pen Shop. Lots of options for online retailers. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any further questions. Have a great day!
I love my Kaweco Brass Sport. I bought it with an extra-fine nib, too, and changed it to medium. When a pen is heavier, I like a wider, more flowy nib for longer-term writing. Sometimes I even use a broad nib with my Brass Sport. I hope you continue to enjoy yours! I love how the pen smells.
Hey my friend, I have the brass board as well. I got it for Christmas like three years ago and I haven’t used it as I just don’t like the way it smells on my hands but I guess it’s something you would have to get used to. With you using it now for a year I’ll probably pull right now and start using it for 2024. Cheers.
You definitely get used to it. I have the Brass and I've long-since stopped noticing it, but every now and then I'll get a comment from someone about 'that smell' lol. It's a good excuse to show off the pen though
As a pen afficionado and lifelong calligrapher, I enjoyed listening to your impressions of this beautiful pen-beast. I own its cousin the Kaweco Sketch-Up, and I wouldn't part with it. The Sketch-Up also has the same smell...it smells like analog, gritty reality. Thanks for the winsome way you engaged with your followers.
I would have to say that the biggest drawback to the Kaweco is that The Wing Sung 3007 & The Delike Alpha both sell for about $9 & change US, & it is for all intents & purposes identical.

Thanks for sharing and for the kind feedback. Yet to try the hobonichi although I feel like I'm generally a blank space kind of guy. Happy writing and have a wonderful day!
What was the ink used for the writing samples?
Hi Paytongosse. Thanks for stopping by. It is the Kaweco Sunburnt Orange in the pen. Hope that helps. Take care and have a great day!
@@StationeryAt4 thank you!
