I remember having a Leavanny on my first playthrough and liking it's design, but I never anticipated it could also make for a strong member against important battles! Really cool to see it!
3:45 Actually, neither of them are version exclusive. Sawk is just harder to find in White and Throh is just harder to find in Black. You can get Sawk/Throh respectively if you hunt the rustling grass encounters in pinwheel forest.
Thanks for the info! I'll update this comment after reassessing whether or not what you shared has an effect on the lineup I used for this team. Edit: Team stays the same! Replacing Emboar with either Sawk or Throh would require we include Samurott or Serperior on the team as the starter of choice, but as I mentioned in the discussion regarding the first gym, neither water nor grass by themselves are very useful for the other obstacles in this game. Choosing either of them would significantly lower the team's chemistry.
My first ever playthrough of Black I finished the game with Volcorona, Darmanitan, Excadrill, Hydreigon, Samurott and Whimsicott. It was by far some of the most fun I’ve ever had playing through a Pokémon game as a kid and Gen 5 was the generation that pushed me to actually study Pokémon move sets and get into IV breeding and EV training. Once you understand how to EV train effectively on low level mobs and are willing to grind any main line games’ E4 essentially becomes a breeze as you can just pivot and use neutral STAB, not even super effective, moves and absolutely sweep. Volcorona is a beast with Quiver Dance. Also Darmanitan Sheer Force Life Orb STAB Fire Punch made my brain go brrr as a kid. I also loved Haxorus and Conkeldurr on a subsequent playthrough of Pokémon White. Guts Facade Conkeldurr is a beast, thank god my brother had a DS so I could actually use it instead of just coping with a Gurdurr. Truly love these games. Also, great video man. I’m glad this popped up in my recommended.
This game fucking sucks, there's no good Pokémon to make a 6 Pokémon team before the champion hydregon at level 64.... What the fuck Is this? How can It be so fucking bad?
This is a good list for battling, but a poor one for exploration enjoyment. "Best" team is subjective, and in my case, a team needs to have 1 flyer and 1 surfer. For me, this basically means I'm running Jellicent and either Braviary/Mandibuzz or Tornadus/Thunderus. Also, for catching Pokemon, sleep is indispensable, even if you're not trying to complete the dex, and Amoongus is the best there is.
That's a valid point! The teams in my videos and in my upcoming best team series are evaluated with the battling aspect of the game in mind. I currently do not have a category for best teams based on "exploration enjoyment" as you put it precisely because of how subjective it is. For you, one flyer and one surfer are enough. For others, all the hms are required. Some may require slots to be reserved for the legendary pokemon. There might be people who want to use six copies of the same pokemon. I'm using the battling aspect of the game to determine what constitutes the "best" team because I personally like to use that standard more than others, AND I can make objective arguments in support of my choices. I'll remember what you said though so that I can try to think of a category more focused on the in-game experience than the battling which will have an objective measure and will resonate with the general public. Thanks for sharing!
Something I’d like to note that increases Krookodile’s viability is that Excadrill doesn’t learn a good Steel STAB move in BW. It gets Iron Head from the Driftveil move tutor in BW2, but in BW it’s best Steel STAB is Metal Claw. In comparison, Krookodile gets Crunch as its secondary STAB which is much better than Metal Claw. I think Excadrill still does better for Skyla given that you can’t get the Rock Slide TM until after defeating her bc Mistralton Cave is locked till you get Surf, but the lack of decent secondary STAB is a point against Excadrill for me. Plus Moxie is OP and Dark types kinda do great in the E4. So I think I would give Krookodile the edge personally but I will concede that Excadrill is better for Skyla specifically.
btw, for trade evolution, if anyone playing this in emulator, you can modify the rom with *universal pokemon game randomizer* to negate the trading part. timburr with wakeup slap smashes the 2nd gym
I like having my pokemon be different across games and would want to use Excadrill in BW2's PWT So I'd just swap around Krookodile and be sure to pick up the TM for Rock Tomb right before Elesa's gym
the team i used in my first pokemon black playthrough was emboar, sigilyph, eelektross, carracosta, krookodile and vanilluxe, since I was like 7, I copied the team from this one walkthrough I watched lmao, I also used a swoobat for a while until I could catch sigilyph
Why wouldn’t you use leavanny and excadrill as temporary members then replace them later with galvantula and krookidile galvantula has compound eyes hits thunder every single time krookidile has moxie and can sweep 3/4 elite 4 members by himself use emboar, krookidile, archeops, galvantula, ferrothorn and jellicent, the only reason I pick jellicent over carracosta is bc I like having 4 attacks and 2 tanks
As much as I dislike scraggy and its design, it is a very solid pokemon for any BW team. Very good job. I had to beat Ghetsis's hydregon with alomamola stalling the crap out of it with toxic and raindance/rest.
You were actually considering Unfezant? It has high physical attack, only learns 3 terrible physical attacks through level up, TMs don’t really help it much and it can’t make use of the special moves it learns. It’s the Staraptor we have at home. 🤣
In terms of offensive power, this team isnt half bad. I do have my own opinions. First, this team is incredibly weak to fighting types. While Configrigus does have an immunity, Scrafty, Excadrill, Stoutland and Krokodile all have a fighting weakness. I recommend sacking at least two of them. While there arent that many fighting types in Unova, the fighting type elite 4 has tanky and powerful fighting types who can one shot and take out most threats and he does have some dark coverage. Also, while not as important, you dont have dedicated swimmer and flyer. Its not as important as in the previous games but still pretty helpful. I recommend Archeops. It has defeatist but its stats are good enough where most pokemon cant shut it down immediately. Plus its also good against Skyla and Marshal. As for the second one, the water elemental monkey isnt half bad. I have used it once or twice and its a pretty good water type. Plus, you are gonna need something for the dragon types in the game. Barring that you can put Surf on Stoutland and just catch a Haxorus in Mistralton Cave, a good and powerful option, just super grindy. My personal choice of team for this game is Samurott Archeops/Swanna/Sigilyph Darmanitan Scrafty Excadrill Leavanny/Haxorus/Stoutland As for lenora, I tend to catch a throh or sawk and use it to take out her team or just use the intimidate strategy to cut her power down. Afterwards is just catching a Sewaddle (I love this guy) As for why I chose Samurott, its my favourite, but also lack of good water types. It may not be good early game or heck late game, but it is really good when the chips are down
say you dont care about level caps and want to use the legendary dragon in the final fight, what would you box to make room? also, I dont know if im blind or not but did you put the movesets anywhere?
Great question! I'm glad you asked. I reassessed the strategy I used with this team to defeat N and Ghetsis, and after picturing how Reshiram and Zekrom can help to execute this strategy, the pokemon I would box depends on which dragon you use. I have yet to test the modified lineups in the games, but feel free to try them for yourself! If you use Reshiram, I recommend boxing Emboar because his fire type overlaps with Reshiram's, and Reshiram is much more reliable defensively than Emboar. He can take out the same pokemon that Emboar defeats more efficiently. As for Zekrom, I recommend boxing Stoutland. Stoutland's main contribution in the final battles is weakening Archeops's attack stat with his intimidate ability to allow the other members to withstand his attacks and eventually take him down. Zekrom can sweep Archeops by using Fusion Bolt, so the intimidate ability is no longer necessary. Neither pokemon contributes greatly to defeating Ghetsis by itself, but Zekrom's superior stats make him more reliable in sticky situations, and when used correctly in conjunction with the other members, he can contribute massively to defeating Hydreigon. For movesets, refer to the outtro of my video! Or look at anananananananananananananana's comment where he listed down all the moves for the members. Hope that helps!
This team is interesting definitely not the best out there I revolve my whole team around ferrothorn easily the best tank in the whole game bc he’s a steel type don’t pick exadrill
My team isn’t very good but still want to share it Crookodile Moves:shadow claw, aerial ace, crunch, rock slide Heracross Moves:brick break, close combat, mega horn, and cut (need to replace this) Druddigon Moves: revenge (because of how slow it is), night slash, dragon tail, rock climb Sigilyph Moves: fly, psychic, ice beam, energy ball Emboar Moves: scald, brick break, flare blitz, flame thrower And my last member is a flagon that I’m attempting to train

Good luck in law school, and as for the mistake, I hardly noticed it. You're doing great, keep it up, bud!

Horrible type combo, but good stats and impressive moves to choose from. If you know what you're doing, it's fantastic.
3:45 Actually, neither of them are version exclusive. Sawk is just harder to find in White and Throh is just harder to find in Black. You can get Sawk/Throh respectively if you hunt the rustling grass encounters in pinwheel forest.

My ears don’t the audio quality sounds a little muffled. Good video though exactly what I was looking for.
I haven't used the team yet but i quickly put together
Emboar - Flamethrower, Head Smash, Will-O-Wisp, Hammer Arm
Zebstrika - Wild Charge, Thunder Wave, Overheat, Light Screen
Simipour - Surf, Blizzard, Shadow Claw, Grass Knot
Krookodile - Earthquake, Crunch, Smack Down, Rock Slide
Gothitelle - Psychic, Thunderbolt, Grass Knot, Shadow Ball
Haxorus - Dragon Claw, Bulldoze, Swords Dance, Brick Break

You can also get musharna in the dream area which starts with the move hypnotize and it has super high special attack and defense early in the game.
Crazy photo choice for skyla 7:10
never have I experienced better 3d audio in a video than this one.

I know I’m in the minority but Gen 5 was the worst imo. B2W2 was a much better game than BW, but still overall was not as good as the other gens
