This is such a cool idea. I definitely have the urge to try this out myself! Great work and thank you for posting the movesets! In the games before B/W and reusable TMs, it can feel punishing wasting a TM on the wrong Poke. Also, in the games before Sw/Sh and free/early Move Reminder, it can feel just as punishing forgetting a move that later on you want to have.
1:04 it's also worth noting that was a rom hack and not an unmodified copy of the game (I think it was an old Drayano hack, but I can't say for certain)
Wow you're right! I found a tutorial link so I'll post it here: th-cam.com/video/CesBrjdeeek/w-d-xo.html That said, Steelix is still less valuable than Lanturn because his stab moves don't do much against Lance's pokemon except Aerodactyl and he would be one shotted by Red's Charizard, Blastoise, and Lapras. Also, using him to take down Pikachu won't bait Red into bringing out Venusaur which makes it much more difficult to set up Exeggutor's leech seed double team substitute strategy. Lanturn has much better chemistry with the team than Steelix, so the best team remains the same.
Nope! A team's chemistry is not determined strictly by their uniqueness in typing. There are some types that are just stronger than others in certain games, and it is inevitable in picking the right members for the team that some members will share a typing.
I'll stick up for the Steelix and Wobbuffet. Wobbuffet becomes available as soon as you get Surf because you can get up to the Blackthorn side of the Dark Cave with HM's and you CAN get Steelix as a rare encounter in the Basement Floor of Cliff Cave on the way to the Safari zone in HGSS.
I love these videos to get inspiration for story runs in PokeMMO as it is harder than regular Pokemon storylines. Also, I think your videos are better than the "best team" videos from Mystic Umbreon because you also consider low level runs for the whole game.
Yo. Great Vid, really considering doing this team for SS. I was shiny hunting a starter and unfortunately got Chikorita, but decided to roll with it. Through 4 gyms and can already tell Meganium is going to be a pain, even using MysticUmbreon's most recent best Meganium team. Might restart with Cyndaquil bc it was my first ever shiny hunt and while cool, it is ultimately just different color. Really awesome vid and damn leech seed carries
Dont sleep on feraligatr. He single handedly can sweep up 4 to 6 gyms early in the game. It has water, ice, dark and normal type moves, and both ice/dark are physical, playing off its high attack stat.
There are a few holes in this team that are a bit glaring. You're missing coverage against several trainers. Chuck's Poliwrath, Claire's Kingdra, Will's Psychic types. Kanto gym leaders, your Rival's Feraligatr, box art legendaries, Team Rocket. I could go on.
It's been a while since I beat the game with this team but off the top of my head here's how you can beat the trainers that you mentioned: Poliwrath: A stab move from Exeggutor Kingdra: Leech seed and then stall with Lanturn's stockpile Will: Magneton and Lanturn would take care of the two Xatus and Slowbro, and Typhlosion would defeat Jynx and Exeggutor. Team Rocket: not a threat Feraligatr: Exeggutor, Lanturn, and Magneton Legendaries: Lanturn, Magneton, and Gyarados Kanto Gym Leaders: not a threat as long as you use the team properly Note: the movesets posted are for when battling Red. There's nothing wrong with trying to spot holes in my team, but remember that I do not post best team videos unless the teams in those videos are able to overcome all the mandatory battles in the game, including the ones you mentioned, without any grinding. Chances are that whatever obstacle you identify as a potential hole, the team in that video has a way to fill it.
@@DFuegoH I just faced Chuck a few days ago in a run on HG/SS, and his Poliwrath is a major threat even with counters.
