Follow up on my Triumph Tiger 1200 XRT. I'm love it more now that winter season is upon us. The heated seats truly is a game changer and the electronic suspension. The Triumph blue tooth app also works great with the bike.

Hi. I'm considering a Tiger1200 XRT. Is it a very top-heavy bike? Is it difficult in traffic? Anything you dislike about it?
      Thanks in advance.

I had a 2017 BMW GS 1200. I had it about a year and then rode a 2018 Tiger 1200. I was at the dealer the next week trading in the BMW. Yea I took a loss but the Tiger was soooooo much better

I have the korosi red xrt 1200! Since May 19 i've never been so happy in my life 😉 i could choose GS, multistrada, KTM,... But... It's not the same.. this one is simply the best!!! Greetings from Portugal 😎

100% agree - I took a 2017 GS for a test ride , and didn't like it at all. Found it very clunky, and the vibrations were annoying. Picked up a 2016 Explorer XCA and absolutely love it. It just oozes quality in comparison to the GS, not to mention all the features and kit that come stock. Great video thanks

I have a 2017 1200 (Explorer) XRx. Did almost 10K miles in 4 months (3 big trips) and absolutely LOVE it.
Agree the gearing is a bit "agricultural" but has been bulletproof so far.
Don't need nor like all the "new" tech. I'm an analog guy and enjoy the aspect of the minimalist/old-school riding style.
      Great video!

I absolutely love my 2018 Tiger 1200 XRT. I just got rid of the Arrow exhaust and put on a Fuel F1R Exhaust so now it has a nice deep growel and I'm grinning ear to ear.

I'm a new owner of the Alpine Edition (my former bike was a Tiger 800 XRX since more than four years, an excellent bike) and I agree with you, the Tiger 1200 is a fantastic bike, I love the sound and the smoothness of the engine (I've tried the Tiger 900 GT PRO, such a good bike, but without the sound of a Triumph Triple, I'm very happy with my new 1200, cheers from Belgium ;)

I tried off road mode the first time and it took about a minute to adjust and after that, it was so much fun going through light off road and nothing crazy. I feel this motorcycle definitely has a lot of power in my opinion. I can easily hist over 100mph in the parkway with no trouble. Not sure if I want to go any faster. I just love this bike but I would love to try KTM Superadventure and BMW. Ducati is just out of my budget and Harley has to many horror stories but I'm not sure if they are true but it still scares me.

On my second Tiger, first one was a 2010, second one is the XRT. Both very good bikes. I think it is the engine that I like so much. I was greedy, wanted more options ! For the price you can not grumble compared to the other competitors in it's class. I do find it a challenge to move , but once you are on the fly, the weight dissipates. A good all round bike, like it has always been ! Thanks for your review. Will be glad to get on some twisties.

    Nice video.
I came from the Africa Twin and VFR1200X. I rode the 1290 Super Adventure S, Ducati Multistrada 1260S, BMW GS 1200 Adventure, Yamaha Tenere 1200 and a 2018 Tiger 1200 XCa.
I went to the dealer to ride the Multistrada. When I got off the Ducati, the dealer said check out the Tiger. I was going to pass since I read it was heavy and had less horsepower, but the dealer suggested I forget the paper numbers and ride it. He was right, I'm glad I did. Based on reading the specs, I thought it was some slow tank of a bike but I was completely wrong. I had owned a Speed Triple and Street Triple in the past and I suspect that is why I picked the Tiger 1200. There is just something about the way that Triumph does triples that rubs me right.
Motor wise, I probably liked the Honda's V4 in the VFR1200X second, but that bike is really outdated compared to the others. The KTM felt like a tractor, the Multistrada felt more like a finicky sport bike, the BMW and Tenere were kind of similar to my surprise, but the BMW was higher quality than the Yamaha, of course. I have not ridden the S 1000 XR though.
Another surprise was the power on these bikes. On paper the Tiger is down on power, but when ridden back to back, the Tiger feels every bit as powerful as the other bikes mentioned. And it is faster than the VFR, Tenere and GS (1200) for sure. I ride regularly with a guy on a Multistrada 1260 S and when he takes off to pass, the Tiger is right there with it. So the Ducati may be quicker from a dig, but from a 60 mph roll on, where it matters, it matches the performance of the 1260, in my experience. And sounds much better doing it, imo.
The downsides on the Triumph are its weight and how hot the engine gets in summer stop and go traffic. Otherwise, its a pretty great bike. Of course, I wish it was 75 lbs lighter and had 20 more hp :)

Great bike Bill. I just bought the same exact bike 2 months ago. The only difference is its the XCA model. Only got 400 miles on it so far but I love it and agree with your comments during your ride. I was able to get in on the free set of panniers deal just under the wire, and that was the deciding factor.

Nice honest review. I am also coming from loving a sport bike background and when I rode this tiger 1200. It felt like 100% benefits with no sacrifices. It handles beautifully, the motor is quick and very responsive, the suspension is a dream. If you ride with a passenger, there is no need to avoid and bumps, bike just tanks through them like a escalade.
I also rode the GS1200. That felt good but kind of old. Tiger has more spirit and adventure.
I just ordered the tiger and get it in 2 weeks. Can't wait to go out for some rides.

Thanks for the video, and I live in Santa Rosa so I was familiar with every square inch of your video'd ride. You definitely made that hill look easier than it is on my 2010 Triumph Thunderbird 1600. I love the build quality of my Triumph, I've had a V-Strom 650 for the last 5 years and am upgrading the adventure bike...Triumph is at the top of my list and I'm trying to decide whether the 900 GT PRO or the 1200 XRT is right for me...The shaft drive of the 1200 is very attractive so I don't even have to mess around with chain cleaning and lubing. Guess I'll go throw a leg over both and see what feels the best. By the way, Eurocycle in Sonoma is actually Windsor California and they no longer sell Triumphs there, although they will do basic service like oil change. They can order parts from their Vegas store if you are patient, but last time I tried to get a couple crush washers from them, they forgot to order them, and so I just ended up driving to San Rafael and got them from Marin Speed Shop, which is the closest Triumph Dealer in the North Bay. Thanks for your video, really appreciated it!

I bought the 2019 Tiger 1200 because I think it shines in the looks Department, and yes your right, it is so comfortable and relaxing to ride, the only one negative I have is the heat the engine puts out on your crotch when the temperature is 80F and above, its a cooker, I just bought a seat cover called cool covers that I'm going to try out this summer, and I have installed upper crash bars that I think I'm going to install some kind of plexiglass on both sides to divert the fresh air towards the seat area to see if I can cool things off. Thanks for posting the video I enjoyed watching it. Glad your out having fun and not obeying your overlords.

Reviewed the Dakati Enduro, BMW GS and of course the Triumph Explorer 1200. After a fair amount of deliberation i chose the Triumph 1200, and although a 2nd hand one for now (2012), I’m by no means disappointed. Even although your brilliantly executed review of the 2020 version exudes excellence, I can certainly agree with you that the Triumph 1200 (personally) knocks the other brands out of the park for so many reasons. I came from the Africa Twin and VFR1200X. I rode the 1290 Super Adventure S, Ducati Multistrada 1260S, BMW GS 1200 Adventure, Yamaha Tenere 1200 and a 2018 Tiger 1200 XCa.

I have to agree, the BMWs are left in the dust by Triumph. I know some riders love their GSs & XRs, but the prices are eye watering by comparison & honestly I don't see what you get for all that extra money. You could buy a Triumph AND a Ninja 650 for the price of some BMWs with money to spare.
