      I lived in Puerto Rico in 2003 & 2004. At the time the uses of the internet was just starting to grow over there. Despite the internet not being as big as it is now, there was already sentiment growing against Carlos Colon, Invader & WWC. It also didn't help that when Invader left WWC for the IWA, about 2 weeks later Carlos Colon & the WWC introduced a Bruiser Brody Cup Tornament just to take a shot at Invader & IWA. Even the fans who sided against Brody considered that was in really bad taste.

    Story goes ,many American wrestlers there threatened with their lives if they testified against Gonzalez and werent even notified about the trial until it was over, leaving the only witnesses there being the ones to testify on Gonzalez' behalf..It doesnt take rocket science to figure out it was premeditated with Gonzalez approaching Brody with his hand rwapped in a towel to hide the knife,asking Brody to meet him in the shower" Brody,Amigo,come here por favor" and they had a bunch of marks serve on the jury,Knowing they could be easily swayed in Gonzalez' favor..he is an evil man who got away with murder and he deserves every misfortune that happens to him..just like the rest of the people that were in on it..If i were a wrestler,I would never return there

    Luckily in the UK, you can be tried for the same crime twice if significant new evidence comes to light and the Court of Appeal agrees to quash the "not guilty" verdict. It hasn't be used a lot but it has been used, especially for historic murders.

    • @arod1766
      @arod1766 ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s no significant new evidence. So it’s irrelevant. Brody tried killing the invader and the hospital records proved it. Do the self defense was believable if there was no witnesses. Nobody else was in the showers. You can’t testify about something you didn’t see

    The question comes from someone in Harlan County Kentucky. Back in the late 1970s the then NWA champion, Terry Funk, went on Ron Fuller's wrestling TV show and told the striking coal miners in a spirit of friendship and amity that they were lazy, and they should stop sleeping with their sisters, take the generous pay cut the mine owners had offered and get their lazy duffs back to work. For some unknown reason, this advice was not received by the miners in the spirit which Funk had given it. Some miners even showed up at the matches with guns, with intention of shooting Funk

      Black eye for the Island? Why do you think about 5 million of us left the Island since the 1960's? A system with rampant corruption and lawlessness. The population of the Island was close to 4 million in the 80's but nowadays is about 3.2 million. People get fed up and leave. A jury of stupid people were not going to convict Jose Gonzalez, not when you send witness summons to Mantel and Atlas weeks after the trial is over. Corrupt system. Nowadays, we see the same type of lawlessness in places like Chicago, Portland, Seattle, Baltimore, Oakland, New York, etc. People get away with crime. Who wants to live in such places? After Brody's murder Wrestling died in the Island. A real shame because when I was a little kid, I was able to watch matches with the very best wrestlers in the business. I saw Eddie Graham, Lou Thesz, Hiro Matsuda (trained Hogan), Jose Lothario, Briscoe brothers, Funk brothers, Johnny Valentine (Greg's father), Ric Flair, and so many others.

So yes there are gonna be those who say things like he was hard to deal with. But the truth is he wouldn't let them have their way so they felt some kind of way and still harbor a grudge. Others that say he was hard to work with in the ring, it is called being stiff and it was part of his character. His character and who he was as a person are 2 completely different things. But the biggest factor is he is not alive to tell his side of the story because a spineless coward took his life. And that coward's government and citizens helped cover it up.
