Rolls Viper turbojet: indoor handcrank start
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 25 มิ.ย. 2023
- Not a follow-up video, but done around two years earlier whilst optimising the starting procedure. Run indoors as it was threatening to rain, but only to 30% as the neighbours were in. Turn up your volume for best effect.
Manliest vacuum cleaner ever.
Random guy in pub:\:" Did you see that movie 'up' where an old man ties balloons to his house and flies away?"
Pete: "Hold my cider!"
Nothing screams eccentric more than a man running a jet engine in his living room. Nothing cleared down. Objects loose all over to be sucked in. Cat terrified claws buried deep into the carpet. Insurance company asking…can you just repeat that…I thought you said a jet engine.
lol
At farmers, we know a thing or two, cause we’ve seen a thing or two.
Oh how I laughed at the comment @Bencar34 😂 You sir have made my Day 👍👍👍👍👍.
But I cannot but love the excentricity of British people and good luck to em. 😁😁😁😁. P S . Gonna post this video far and wide, along with the comments. It's just great ❤
brilliant backyard hobby dude
I think we've just found the sequel to Up! Should be able to get further with a jet than balloons!!
Now thats my kind of neibour and general good all round egg...😅💪👍
its like a really powerful window fan
This is Fucking brilliant! 😂😂😂😂😂
Whether he burns the neighborhood down or not, people will talk about their neighbor with the jet engine for a long time.
You do realise, his house and back yard is now half way down the street?!
So that's where the money for the potting shed went !!
"All we need now, is a fuselage, a cockpit, a pair of wings and a tailplane, an undercarriage - or a large skateboard and some blu-tac😎👍
Incredible build
At farmers, we know a thing or two, cause we’ve seen a thing or two. We are farmers, bumpa bumpa bump bump bump.
I've fixed the tumble dryer love. 😁
Dear God Imagine an engine runaway on this thing
....ends up in bathroom, UPSTAIRS 🤣
And I thought we were mad for rebuilding car and motorcycle engines on mum's kitchen floor and table!
That takes the cake.
Who needs a Dyson. That'll vacuum your carpet pretty efficiently. 😂
I bet your missis loves you having a jet engine in your dining room !!! My bloody neighbours moan at me for having a sports exhaust on me car......it's nowt compared to this. Looking forward to the next one.
Your i surance company will love to see this . Thx
The wife gets pissed when I have fishing reels in the house!
This will teach er to turn down the bloody soap box!
That’s just like my diesel heater 😂😂😂😂
firing up a jet engine in your house.......now that is off the chain...!!!
Outstanding❤
😅😅😅😅
Just one question. How on earth did you get it in there? I live not far from the old Armstrong Siddely factory. They used to have an amazing museum there, manned by retired employees. A wonderful selection of jet engines. Sadly now closed, and all exhibits moved to Rolls Royce Derby.
It probably took him about 10 months to remove the door and rebuild it once the engine was inside 😏, hence the gap between the first and second video.
...almost all...
Just saw this video! I have a 102 that I have been working on. Machined an adaptor to fit a large truck starter to the inlet gear case. Controlling it through an aftermarket golf cart motor controller. This lets me control the torque application. Now I just need to built a control box and do a test run!
A couple questions: can I just blank off the bleed air connections?
What are you using for ignitor exciter? I have a couple but the leads seem to be the most difficult thing to find.
Hi, the bleed air connections can be blanked off. I made my own ignitor and connectors. Think that you can see the box beneath the engine in the video. It operates off an integral 11volt Lithium battery. The starter motor is a 24volt, 5.6kW Bosch, drawing around 400,500,700 Amps in three stages. I use car starter relays to handle the currents. Oh, ignitor units do come up on ebay. Bought one to play with from rays-teksurplus.com a while ago for £58. Made by Plessey. Pete
Would make a brilliant vacuum cleaner 🤣🤣🤣
it starting sucking everything in
Cool did you measure the thrust ?
At 30%, which is idle speed, there's no appreciable thrust.
Just need a go carry to stick it on 😎
Pete, I'm curious where someone can buy jet engines like this and how much one costs. Also, what did this (yours in particular) come out of? Very cool.
Hi John, there are a couple on ebay at present (£2800) Bear in mind that there are different marks of Viper. This particular one is a 1960 Mk10201 and originally fitted in a Jet Provost T3.

I hope he has good insurance !!!
How did the accident happen? 😂😂😂😂😂
I can understand why somebody would want this
I’m guessing the wife ran away years ago 😂
Love it, would love to know what the people around you think. Pete, do you have a contact i can reach you on. Id love to just ask some questions to potencially help my build if you don't mind
Hi PyroLuke, tricky one that, as TH-cam blocks contact details like emails and numbers. You're not the first to ask. It's all to protect peoples' privacy. Anyway, thanks for watching.
Dusty house? What dust??
Oh OK where did you get this? I want one.
Hi Pete! We would love to feature you on our Supercar Blondie page, do you have an email i can reach out on? Thanks
email? Can't do that via YT. Have tried Bennett, your agent but address not recognised.
