- Air tools are great tools to have, they make many of the repetitive and complex tasks we do in our garages a little more easy but they would be totally useless without an aircompressor.
And since an air compressor is the heart of all air tools it would seem reasonable that choosing a good one to suit our purposes is essential.
No matter what size or type of air compressor you need here is some information that will help you choose the right one.
If you want more information about the air compressors seen in the video below are links that go to amazon for more information.

Great comprehensive video, thank you!
I just wanted to thank you for your amazing and informative video. Most emphasize one product over another. You, on the other hand, have informed us on what features/benefits to prioritize. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Cheers!
Best video on the subject by a MILE. THanks!
Great video. Basically the nuts and bolts of knowledge on compressors. Thanks
Great little vid, many thanks for posting.
Very informative & very helpful. Now i know where to look when buying an air compressor. Thank you very much.
Great video, thanks for the info man
great video packed with info
Yes, thank you for an exhaustive report that has truly helped me. As much as I love my Milwaukee tools, some jobs still need old school applications e.g., air hammer/chisel.
You're the best educational tool in TH-cam!!!
Real good informative video, thanks!
Awesome video. Thank you very much!
When you are talking lower the background sound. Can't hear properly what were you saying in some parts. Good explanation though

Another you have do is when done using it for the day, turn it off and empty all air out of the tank, there's should be a valve on the bottom of the tank for this
Thorough, and helpful, without the extra blah, blah :-) Thank you! Couldn't hear the background noise, I had ear plugs in...lol
very good.
The background videos are distracting but learned so much. thank u
Any recommendations on an affordable compressor for my 250psi tire inflator?
20 ton bottle air Jack, what size do you recommend?
Black diamond 20 gallon tank with 135 psi...starts pumping at 100 psi and runs one to one to your use (except cut off and sander)...$409. Double piston compressor recharges fully in 50 seconds. Never have had a problem.
I want to use a die grinder for woodcarving because of how small and versatile they are but don’t really know what type of air compressors I would need cause I really don’t want mine to be too loud, any suggestions?
one with a lot of capacity
I reffer the FAD (Free Air Delivery) of air compressor that i want to buy. its becouse pneumatic tools now need more volume of FAD. For example HLVP gun spray almost need 300-350 l/m FAD.
So these air compressor tank refills it self or need to take it to a shop?
refills itself.
@@billwilliams9897 you take the tank to the veterinary . . . :)
Question. After I'm done using the compressor, I normally let the air out of it. Is it safe to keep the air in for a few weeks so I don't always have to fill it?
So it looks like nobody is answering you so I will. You can store air safely as long as you like but you should drain the condensed water out of the receiver (tank) regularly.
@@chrislye8912 Thank you :)
In your opinion what portable compressor would you buy if you do engine work body work and painting car or impact wrench die grinder spaying premier
I use all the same air tools. The die grinder and spray gun are your biggest consumers of air, because they are used for longer periods than 15 seconds.
You should run an oil lubed pump (avoid oil less)
Take a look at the cfm rating of your highest comsumption air tools, then add 30% to that to get a compatible compressor.
My quick answer is - Don't buy a compressor with less than 10 CFM @100psi. You would regret it when using the die grinder or doing more than spray priming.
I love my Quincy 390 compressor in my basement. 35 CFM @ 560 RPM on a 50 amp single phase circuit.
Huh?
so how exactly do you define "large tank" - 4 gal? 10 gal? 20 gal? ...
From my perspective, a 60-gallon tank will be a large tank for me.
What psi/gallons would I need to run a 3 1/2" drive impact or other huge drive sockets.
thats what i want to know too
If you have something to say, please do so without those loud noises on top of your voice. Make the life of your audience so much easier.
So hard to understand what you are saying with all those sound effects
Half of the specifications on most compressors are bullshit anyway. you think your getting a 14cfm aircompressor when really its a 9cfm compressor
Soo if its realy expensive its good because I can't understand a word

Will a 6 gallon 175psi High Performance Hand Carry Jobsite Air Compressor operate an 6in Orbit Palm Sander? Just wanting to sand the bumper of ny daughters car and paint it.
Hi Lucky, short answer no. But I don't know the specs of the compressor or the palm sander. Your jobsite compressor is more or less made to power nailing guns - short bursts of air and pump up tyres etc.
Your compressor will have a Free Air Delivery (FAD) rate - for example 250 liters per minute (sorry I work in metric) and your sander will have an air consumption rate - example 190 liters per minute.
(these specs may be given in Cubic Feet per Minute CFM)
In that example your compressor will power your sander because it produces more air than what the sander uses. It will also be at around 90psi. Most air tools operate at 90psi.
If your sander uses more air than what the compressor produces, then you will need a bigger compressor.
You will need to find out the specs of your equipment. Dont forget the duty cycle of the compressor.
At a pinch you will be able to do the repair. Just do it in short bursts and give the compressor plenty of rest time and set the regulator at 95 - 100psi.

To much noise in the video
Background is louder than you and with the accent I could only understand "compressor " out of all the sentences
Why do you have your background noise louder than your voice? Cant here you over it so now I have to go back and read the whole damn video which defeats the purpose of why you are speaking
Seriously what is the deal with the Australians? Why do you speak like that? Even TH-cam's auto subtitle feature is not able to follow correctly..
He is a Kiwi ie. New Zealander.
