  • Detailed demonstration on how to tie a top and bottom float rig for big river fish like Barbel, Chub, Bream, Carp and so on. This rig is very basic but well tested and works well in fast water.

    Hi Andrew, some great ideas there that will work for float fishing worm and prawns for salmon on the big rivers. I usually use a float of about 15g to get the distance, but the rigs often tangle, due to big weights I think! Many thanks for sharing this Brother!🐳🐳🏆🏆

      I could be wrong but I guess it’s like fishing the slider on in matches. Firstly your right it’s the weights causing the tangle. You must remember to always feather the line before your rig lands to straighten everything out. You’ll know if you’ve a tangle because the float won’t sit right.👍

    Hi Andrew great video , A lot of my water is only 1mtre deep, would you just set your olivette at 500mm and adjust the fluorocarbon to make up the rest.? Thanks Peter

    Hi Andrew I hope you are well ,with this rig which I’m going to try this season on the river dove as I live in Staffordshire does it matter how fast the river is flowing with the 8g Olivett?

    • @AndrewsKnots
      @AndrewsKnots  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Float size choice should be according to the depth, current, sometimes wind, casting distance etc. etc. and olivette is a great way to have a big bulk of weight on the rig.

    Great video Andrew, how bouts putting stop both sides of olivett so can vary where the olivette is on rig, so if needed can put olivette right under float and let bait fall naturally?? Would that work

    • @AndrewsKnots
      @AndrewsKnots  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers.
      I wouldn't recommend it because of the tangles BUT whatever works for you. When I need slow bait fall through the water I would use loaded waggler..

    Hi, in the video you say the braided line floats. In the link for the braided line (the new version ) in your video description it says the braid is fast sinking. Are there 2 versions of this braid available ???? Good video...Thanks.

    • @AndrewsKnots
      @AndrewsKnots  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does as any braid made out of Dyneema but whatever works for you.
      Cheers

    I love your attention to detail. May I ask a question? I’m unsure how to understand the weight printed on floats. Your float was 8g, and your olivette was 8g. You then added shot, stops, swivel, and hook link. Wouldn’t those additions exceed the float weight of 8g and sink the float? Thanks. 🤓🎣

      As per video, it's ok to overshot float rigs when river fishing and holding back. Obviously some floats won't work with that..

    What braid would u recommend for roach and dace trotting with say maggot ? this braid but a lower diameter and would it be ok on a close faced reel ? Cheers Andy

    • @AndrewsKnots

      I would use 0.08-0.10 mm.

    Hello Andrew, is the olivette to be positioned about halfway between the float and the hook?
    Great video.

    • @AndrewsKnots

      No, like 60-80 cm.from the hook.
