Really good info, Martin, thank you. It's something that I'm trying grasp now, part way through my novel. I'm so tempted to go back and edit, but I'm resisting until I finish the 1st draft.

Your advise came back to me on Sunday evening at a poem sharing session. I realised my poems are too full. I'm wanting to get every detail in. The another participant bought a Mary Ruefle poem and spoke about her work. She rubs out who chunks of her poems. I discovered she is an amazing poet. So with your help and Mary Ruefle I need to start cutting down.
By the way - like the typewriter in the background. Do you use it much? I've just bought a Olympia Monica.
