Really good info, Martin, thank you. It's something that I'm trying grasp now, part way through my novel. I'm so tempted to go back and edit, but I'm resisting until I finish the 1st draft.
Your advise came back to me on Sunday evening at a poem sharing session. I realised my poems are too full. I'm wanting to get every detail in. The another participant bought a Mary Ruefle poem and spoke about her work. She rubs out who chunks of her poems. I discovered she is an amazing poet. So with your help and Mary Ruefle I need to start cutting down. By the way - like the typewriter in the background. Do you use it much? I've just bought a Olympia Monica.
Glad you found it so useful! Thank you for the compliment, but you have made the move to develop your work 👏👏 I have five typewriters! The Olympia SM4 is an important part of my creative process...

That's it. Get the first draft done first. Otherwise it can end up being something very polished... but unfinished. Good luck! 🤞
