I also wanted to say things come around full circle.... maybe you are just growing in a different way for a while... and will be blown back onto the stage of Life in a new and wonderful way... :)
Nice introduction, but the static transition disrupts the flow of your editorial. That’s a low frequency sound and you are attempting a high frequency conversation. I like the content nonetheless.
I love this, thank you! i have been a freelance content creator for 13 years, but in July I lost my biggest client (the business owner retired) and I got an actual, almost full-time job in a completely new field. I too considered I'd failed - as a business writer, as a self-employed person; and I don't have the time, energy and freedom I used to have to do my personal writing. But I'm benefiting from a steady, regular income and a 'work family', and new perspectives on my life and the world around me (and paid holidays, hurray!). In a funny kind of a way, I feel like I've earned my time off work now and so use it more wisely. So although I'm exhausted a lot of the time - it's much more 'peopling' than I'm used to - I'm starting to see what I've gained through the change, and your video's helped me put that in an even more positive light. I've been following your channel a few months now and hope you'll still have time to make new videos, as I find them really engaging and helpful. Thank you, and best of luck with your transition.
Thanks for taking the time to write such a lovely, helpful comment! There are certainly lots of benefits... I will keep making the videos - just not as often as I used to!
I just love this. I dont have any fun either! i design my own jewelry and teach art now I have to get a regular job for a few months and I want to bus tables! I dont want to think! I just want to do something monotonous repetitive and healing. I have a whole new business line coming out but you can not do that if you can not eat. its been so stressful. good for you for recognizing you needed a change.
That's really inspiring! I love how you have acknowledged the challenges of even welcome change. Your new journalling practices sounds really nourishing. Wishing you well.
Hey Martin, I have worked for myself for over 20 years, had a spell working for a very large international company, I enjoyed it, learned so much from it, made new connections that I still have. I outgrew it and now back working for myself at a much higher level. I have a feeling that you are going to get a great benefit from this experience, and as you say, it is part of your growth. Sending you my best!
Thanks Martin, just got to watching this now. Your journalling sounds so helpful, great that you're resilient to change and able to adapt your practice around your new work routine. Inspiring! Hope all still going well for you. I like the Grim Reaper graphic too!
I just discovered this channel watch two videos loved the content found this one, and had to skip it because of the static… Looking forward to watching more of your videos, thank you!
I found your channel while looking for recommendations about ways to improve my journaling process. I had already adopted morning pages without having read The Artist’s Way, but after watching a couple of your videos (in particular the one where you mentioned one of the presenters at a retreat showing their journal) it inspired me to explore The Artist’s Way directly (going back to original sources so to speak). I’m just starting my fourth week (reading restriction is going to be a serious challenge) so thank you for giving me the inspiration to pick it up. I was watching this video last night (before realizing that this week I was going to do reading restriction) and wanted to share some of my journaling journey since I thought it might be of interest to you in your new path. I came at journaling starting from a work log. I was trying to figure out ways to help me keep track of the details of the myriad projects I always had going on and keeping track of it in my brain wasn’t working. These started out as periodic blog posts on internal company blogs and over time morphed into a more comprehensive thing I call a journal (though from my research the last six month maybe I’d actually call it a common place book). Anyway I structure these by writing posts in them as things come up which are of interest to me or I think might be relevant to my co-workers. One of the way these differ from traditional journaling is that I make them public to my co-workers. When I first started doing these they were very work focused but over time I let bits of work appropriate bits of my life also be shared. But all of this is in support of a philosophy that products are the precipitate of the collective understanding of the organization and that the highest value thing one can contribute is to improving the rate at which that collective understanding takes place. My approach to this has been a large amount of transparency and openness as expressed by journaling. The mechanism started out in company blogs/wikis but in its modern form I just use a channel in slack which people can subscribe to. Gonna cut this off here, and might be slow to respond due to reading restriction, but thought I should share and thank you. Cheers and good luck!
"The only constant thing in life is change" - Heraclitus. The man knew what he was talking about! Firstly, thanks for the anxiety the title of your video gave me 😅 I'm glad your change isn't anything tragic but the opportunity to have new experiences! Congratulations on getting the job. I saw myself reflected in a lot of the things you mentioned. I've been self-employed for a few years now and often take my routine for granted... I've also often wondered whether I shouldn't supplement my income with a part-time job, but the idea of having to deal with a lot of people and taking in all the new stuff feels extremely daunting... In the meantime, I'm using your words to remind myself of how very privileged I am to be able to do what I love and at my own pace. I'll also use it to shake things up a bit and not stay stuck! And here's another quote for an unlikely source: "Movement is life" - Brad Pitt's character in World War Z 🙃
Yeah, there are plusses and minuses all round. It's really good that the work is interesting and the people are nice. It's really good to get a different perspective and insight. Most people seem to go the other way: from being employed to setting up on their own. Who knows, maybe I'll bounce back some time...
What big changes have you seen, and how did you deal with it? Let me know, below! ⬇👍
The opportunity to collaborate sounds excellent! Congratulations 💝

Yeah - it's just to differentiate from the rest of the video and indicate that it's a snapshot taken from later on. Thanks tho.
I understand why you have the transition sound I just find it unnerving. Having said that your videos are worth it.

Hmmm. Yes. We've got to have money. But how much money do we need...? I guess this has always been the artist's conundrum.
That's really inspiring! I love how you have acknowledged the challenges of even welcome change. Your new journalling practices sounds really nourishing. Wishing you well.
Thank you! It's a big shift, and these things can take time. But we shall see... Thanks for watching, and taking the time to leave a comment 🙏

@@kazzrie unlikely to be any more static due to change in style. Going back to whiteboards. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 🙏
We have to do what we have to do. Congrats on the new role and enjoy! 🎉
Thank you - I hope I will!
Congratulations and all the best! 👍
Thank you!
Do you do your own art. It’s really quite good
Thank you. I use an app called VideoScribe.
