I'm in NY and I've been to the Statue of Liberty. I climbed a spiral staircase up to the crown, it was awesome! I have actual framed illustrations in my room of its construction
You should mention for the benefit of tourists that you must book tickets weeks and months in advance if you want to enter the Statute of Liberty and climb to the top. There are so many tourists each day that they cannot accommodate everyone. They allow everyone on the island to walk around the statute but only ticket holders are allowed to actually go inside the statue.

The original statue was designed to go in front of the opening of the Suez Canal. But then time president or whatever of Egypt declined. So he approached the Americans with the idea in switching the torch from the left-hand to the right. Just a bit of trivia for you.
