It follows you, helps you gather materials and do the tutorial. Whenever you log out the NPC changes your lock codes and kills you offline.

It would be funny, would be like in Project Zomboid when you finish the tutorial and it says press Q for the cure. Q is global shout that calls them all to you to kill you with a message. There is no cure.
This is something i would love to see as a feature if you take too long to do the tut

I think they should really focus on physical player response, like ragdolls and 3rd person animations. Everything in that field is so brutally outdated.

Improved client performance when the player is getting shot ~ this new improvement this month is probably my favorite!❤
Literally the only reason why i have stopped playing rust for weeks sometimes was because of the bad fps at gunfights and losing because of it, i can now actually see myself sinking way more hours to the game since it actually runs well now
It's so weird that every time I would shoot my game would stutter super hard I hated it so much.

All it's going to do is make you 10x more hunted, I think you're going to end up saying you don't like the backpack update.
I'm so glad they are paying some attention to item entities. I'm not sure if it's been fixed already but there was an issue with item entities getting orphaned during server save/reloads. Essentially, items in loot containers are not flagged to be saved by the server, since no one owns them yet, but their associated entities WERE being saved. When the server loaded those saves, it loaded the old entities, but the items that they belonged to were never saved in the first place and new loot items got their own new entities.
The common advice in the community was to restart your server periodically, maybe even every night, and this was causing tons of orphaned entities to accumulate by the end of the wipe cycle.
I must say the graphical improvements were the first things I noticed.
Crisper textures and a bump in FPS.

Tutorial Island looks neat. Lunar skins are some of my favorite too!
Now backpacks I can get behind!! I am hoping these implement well.
I got 0 complaints so far, I play solo and the backpack is a god send for getting an outpost start, for farming, for pretty much everything as a solo
All this stuff added, and I'm still waiting for a triangle planter box
Anyone else noticing that their alt look is significantly blocked by your characters arm after yesterdays update?
Noticed it last night leaving a scrap run while getting dark I swore someone was chasing me lol it was my shoulder lol

there should be standard salvaged binoculars and then range finding military ones with night vision on a limited seconds amount

They should add a gore update, bullet wounds, dismemberments (after death), grunts and moans, and blood pools. Obviously you can toggle this on and off too.
Actually, in the very old Rust, you would scream to death when wounded. And this was kinda OP because you couldn't hide your body behind a tree or wall etc without your killer tracking your screams until he found you and executed you. So maybe not moans & grunts, but dismemberment & bullet wounds sounds cool as fck ! And i was also thinking for a few years, blood splatters on walls when you get shot next to a wall / or in a monument. Blood splatter is something Rust really lacks of. Almost every FPS Game has blood spewing out and splattering on walls & floor when you shoot someone, strangely Rust doesn't. It would definitely add some realism.

and landmines
I feel like they should make the normal inventory smaller to make you rely on backpacks more. You should also be able to put backpacks in boat chests and stuff like that.
yeah i agree i think they should un-fix the problem they fixed and make it worse than it was before

I think the metal detector should react to things buried by players.
The shovel, in addition to being used to dig up objects, should be used to bury your backpack.
I would also like a larger radius to allow you to locate objects that are not buried, but are hidden by grass and bushes.
The loot table you gave for metal detector is definitely wrong. I was finding cans of beans as well all of the roadside, fields, and forests loot in the desert. Specifically, I was running up and down the train tracks for most of it, went next to giant excavator pit for a little, and some was also just in open desert.
I also found ammo and coffee can helmets on the roadside.
Will the metal detector detect land mines?

I really like that Rust is making loot more accessible for other players by spreading it everywhere.
Finding stashes felt like the entire point.
What would be the point of stashes anymore then?
I see what you are saying and I am not a high level player or anything but stashes would still be somewhat hard to find based on the map size and everything that goes into having a metal detector and finding something with it. I could be wrong on that though since most stashes are going to be near bags so maybe would make them somewhat useless.
They should’ve made the back pack just add to the inventory slots instead of being it’s own inventory move the crafting details above the quick craft and then it would be way easier to put items in and would be able to craft with that.
it's not always about "easier" bro. Backpack as they made it works perfect and in concept of the game

I think it should stay that you can dig it up with any melee weapon. It is less complicated and more realistic.

That's the onvious use for the detectors, waving them around will just be an inefficient gimmicky way of finding scrap elsewise

That metal detector will never see use, as looting barrels will probably reward better loot at a higher rate... Finding staches would have been the useful thing

Alot of these things are old from Mods starting with the Bag , their are tons of mods that the dev's should consider to bring into the game but I guess that's a conversation for another video.

30 seconds in, shadowfrax makes the community proud by stating "every month there is more and more junk to transport". You know the game has issues when even the guy who makes update videos on it is tired of their updates.

Irritating that my "paid for vip custom mod" backpack is now broken, because of the crap "new backpack" that is inferior in every way. But.. glad the vanilla servers have access to more slots. Pity I dont play in a vanilla server. Aw well, our admin will fix it soon. (I hope)

Like you put hazzy in hotbar, and it takes few seconds to put them on now (like the old slow looting system)

backpacks should cost you calories and water. Then when you run out of calories and water you should be getting a -1 burden. They already have something like it. And it should stack with dehydration in hunger
