When I was little, my parents had a friend who went to Prague, and she brought us back a couple of gifts. One of them was a puzzle, which she had put together, flipped over, written us a letter on, and then took back apart. So we got to put together a puzzle, and then when we finished, we flipped it over to read her letter!
I've been watching Karen's videos while working on family Christmas gifts. I couldn't think of a nice gift, so I bought some puzzles and decided to put them together and paint a landscape from their travels on the back. I'll take them apart and gift the puzzles, and the paintings will be a surprise.
If you had the space you could have set up a smaller board to lay all the pieces out on which you could also have flipped over every time you flipped the puzzle . That way you could always see the pieces for whichever puzzle side you were working on and wouldn’t have to go through the process of individually turning them over every time .
I thought about that, but pieces were more likely to fall out the sides when they were layered on top of each other, and I didn't have the space/fabric to put them all out in one layer 😌
I use up to half a dozen trays upon which to sort out my pieces and place them up the right way. Also I have a few pieces of 1/8th inch thick hardboard , cut to hold typical 500, 1000 and 2000 piece puzzles. You seem inundated with new puzzles. They will keep you busy for weeks (:- ). A mountain of pleasure ; with a steep gradient.
I really love coming to your channel. It's such a happy place. I've been disappointed by a couple of my long term subs lately. Bur here it's always a good time, like a day at the beach :)
What a lovely channel! In such a horrible time in the world it’s really nice to just take some time to watch somebody just really enjoying puzzling. Thank you :)
Everytime I see you having the pieces in the box I think about the last time I tried to puzzle and I discovered after a few days that every night my dog would come and eat some of them.
I'm new to your channel, but it feel like it's like Let's Plays for puzzles. It's a lot of fun to see you solving these puzzles. I still love your attitude, it really sells these videos. Watching them is so much fun. I'll work on a couple of puzzles on my own this weekend. Your videos have been inspiring to get into those pieces! You have a great channel. I hope you have fun with it for quite some time. You're great!
A long time ago I did a double-sided puzzle. It had the same image on both sides, but one side the picture was turned 90 degrees compared to the other side. It was definitely challenging! I glued it together and kept it for many years.
My "evil" brother gave me 2 of these type of puzzles. Plus the pieces are basically the same shape. I only wish you could shine a black light (or sonething equivalent) on one side to find out if you actually solved it correctly.
Ah, I thought “eh, I get it, I don’t have to watch it” when I first saw the thumbnail, but a few days later, the curiosity got me. This has been fun, so thank you. 🙂 Also, I typically prefer to watch non-music videos without sound. Thank you for articulating your speech so well that the auto-captioning very rarely misses.
Beach. I just want to thank you for your videos. The last month i binged everything you've uploaded. I have just started coming back from exhaustion syndrome and you have woken up my joy of doing puzzles again, even though i have not done it for several years. Turnes out doing puzzles is helping me regain energy. Thank you ❤
I love your videos. I enjoy how enthusiastic you are about puzzles and your love for them. It makes me happy to see others enjoy their special interest and have a platform to talk about it.
Yesss, another Karen Puzzles to play as I crochet. Told ya I'd start a channel, next month I'll be doing your puzzle inspired crochet sweater! Stay tuned for that
That was fun to watch! I think I would have secured 2 sides with binder clips before flipping since I’d probably have been flinging them around. And then I’d go to the beach!
Hi Karen! I have not and probably will not do a double sided puzzle. Just not for me. I did enjoy your video though. The last puzzle I put together was Ravensburger's Sanctuary Of Knowledge 1000 piece puzzle. It was super fun and next time I do it my husband wants me to glue it and frame it. Oh yes the beach does sound awesome right now. Oh and from one puzzler to another "Happy Puzzleing"
Another great video Karen, I am so happy it didn't end up on the floor! I do think that a double sided puzzle should be the same quality on both sides. Beachy fun though!
Amazing video as always. If you want a good challenge try doing two puzzles at the same time and switching every 20 minutes. Laying down on the beach with a fruity drink sounds great right now.
Beach. That was cool. I like that you not only feature unique and different puzzles but you are willing to come up with ways to make the puzzles even more challenging and fun for yourself and for us. I admit that I did wonder how you'd react if one of the flips didn't work out
I did a Warhol double sided puzzle. One side has a big soup can and the other side had a bunch of little soup cans. I did the big soup can shiny side, but flipped some of the pieces when I was stuck. Put them together and then flipped them back. Flipping and seeing the picture on the back side is really amazing. Loved your beach puzzle.
What a wonderful 'beach' puzzle. You have more patience than I. And who knew the water scene would be easier. Thats interesting. May have to put that one on my Amazon wishlist. ⛱
I actually have a gray malin puzzle. (It’s the other beach one.) And my puzzling table is clear glass. So my sister sat underneath and worked that way while I worked on top! It was funny seeing how she would fit a piece into my side that I definitely wouldn’t have been able to get!
That puzzle is so cool! I did a double sided puzzle once that was the same picture on both sides just rotated 90 degrees. I'd totally love to try one like this.
I have never been so stressed watching a puzzle video as I was with this one! I held my breath every time you flipped it! I love both the images but really don't think I'd like to do either as a jigsaw - the water side has too little detail, and the detail in the beach looks so tiny! I have done double sided jigsaws before. The pictures weren't as distinctively different as this one. You could only tell which side you needed by the shine/dull finish.
My coworker did this puzzle! Would love to enjoy a good book at the beach but it’s been an unconventional summer. The silver lining has been more time for puzzles!
I just found a Gray Malin puzzle with two beach scenes which means a lot of blue! You can tell back from front due to the die cut and one side is glossier so I am going in!
I was screaming "push your chair back and spin the puzzle 90 degrees before you flip" since then it would have been flipping the short sides and not hitting stuff.
Beach. Postcards are cool, but I like when the poster is bigger than the image on the box. Personally I think 21st-century puzzle companies should include a digital download of the image so you can zoom in on a tablet or laptop. It could even be watermarked I suppose. That's Positano, Italy at 20:00.
As a redhead, I'm not much of a beach girl but I do like this puzzle. I have a double sided Monet puzzle that I have had for a long time. It's one of the only puzzles that have survived my many 'I have too many puzzle' purges because it is so unique. I will have to look for these puzzles on Amazon. Also, I have a suggestion for the flipping if you decide to use this method again in the future... binder clips along the edges. I have used binder clips and felt to hold a few puzzles while they are waiting to be glued and I haven't noticed any slippage in the puzzles even with storing the 'puzzle sandwich' sideways. It's like a home-made Bits and Pieces puzzle tote :)
I experimented with binder clips but it didn't seem to make it any more secure than just holding it. But I'm glad to hear it works for storing the puzzles long term!

That's really cool! I would frame it between two pieces of glass instead of just the front one and then you could hang it and flip it whenever you want to. ❤️ Love your channel and LOVE puzzles
Watching your 12h challenge video and now this one, it's making me want to buy Gray Malin's whole puzzle collection 💰💸 those *beach* photos are so beautiful 😍
hi there...yes ive done a two sided puzzle before ...not only was it two sided..it was the same image on the other side but turned a quarter of a turn. it was really fun to do.
Galison has some beautifully made puzzles (one sided ones - I've never tried a double). I would love to see you do one of the Michael Storrings puzzles. The "Paris" one is one of my faves. He also has one of the beach at Coney Island :-)
Galison boxes are my favorite puzzle boxes, hands down. And they're definitely up there with my favorite puzzle brands. There's a puzzle called Naranjas by them, and it was very enjoyable to put together. But I've never done this two-sided puzzle, both because I anticipated the backside-lower-quality thing, and because the ocean and beach design didn't really appeal to me personally.
what a coincidence since a friend of mine went to the beach today! Fun premise for this puzzle build. Your starting strategy really helped since each side concentrated on a different quadrant. Good job and really cute narrative that you provide. hello!!
Karen Puzzles I have not done it before but would DEFINITELY try the challenge ❤️🧩🧩🧩
I have a Nasa Jupiter double sided puzzle so ill defidently try this!
I haven't done one, because I like to frame my puzzles and I don't want to lose a picture lol

@@datgaydangernoodle1315 Yes! The project turned out really well!
At first I thought the title was flipping every 2 minutes 😳 that would have been a 'beach' to do haha
haha, there would have been no time for puzzling in between all those flips!

Nice review about this double-sided beach puzzle. Nice work Karen!
I also wanted to say that this was a really creative and cool idea that you had with this puzzle.
A moment ago I was wondering for myself if there was such a thing as a double-sided puzzle. And there you go. Amazing. :)

love how she’s super honest ❤️
I really appreciate your excitement in jigsaw puzzles. 😍 It's contagious. 😁
It is! I just bought one (but not beaches)
Would love to be at the beach right now. Love the way you did the two-sided puzzle very interesting. And glad you didn’t have a complete disaster
