Gumroad vs Payhip vs Koji: Which is the Best Platform to Sell Digital Products?

  • In this video, I highlight some important differences between Gumroad vs Payhip vs Koji so you can decide which one is the best platform to sell digital products for your purpose.
    ❗️IMPORTANT: As of February 2024, Koji had discontinued its services. I recommend a service called Beacons instead as an alternative: aurelius.link/beacons
    In a nutshell, the pricing/fee differences between Koji, Gumroad, and Payhip:
    Gumroad: 9% + 0.30c /transaction ($0-$999 in sales) (UPDATE FEB. 2023: Gumroad has removed the tiered fee structure and now charges a simple 10% flat fee no matter your sale volume)
    Payhip: 5% + PayPal/Stripe fees with options to upgrade to its monthly plans for reduced or no transaction fees.
    Koji: 0-10% (Depending on the app you use). Example: Tip Jar app is 0% while the Digital Download app is 5%.
    Some other things to know in addition to what I mentioned in the video...
    Koji is a link in bio service which built-in app integrations allowing your audience to purchase directly on your page.
    Gumroad seems to be a favorite amongst creators, especially with Twitter users from what I've observed. Anyone who purchases via Gumroad has all his/her purchases in their Gumroad account.
    Payhip has a clean and minimalist interface which is what I like. Even though you can use Zapier to integrate an email marketing services, on the Marketing page, you can directly integrate your account with email marketing service such as ConvertKit and Mailchimp. Its Store Builder is also a big perk that stands out. Gumroad does not gives you that much flexibility with your store.

    Thanks Aurelius for the video - certainly some options to consider. Do you have any comment about selling products you have purchased as PLR or White Label (eg: your own Unstoppable PLR products) on these platforms. What I tend to do is add my own mockup, retitle the product and then add to the content, rewriting maybe 10-20% of it along the way. Do you think that would be acceptable to each platform (based on your own experience)

    Hi Aurelius! Really appreciate your videos. Extremely well organized and articulate. I’ve been searching for an app/web extension that helps capture leads/ contacts/ emails of suppliers for my e-commerce startup. Essentially I’m spending a lot of time researching and shortlisting suppliers on various parameters, but now I’m having to revisit and spend more time looking for contacts and emails. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers!

      @AureliusTjin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your feedback Adrian. Are these leads permission based i.e. they opted to receive emails from you? Or have I misunderstood and that you are looking to save contacts into a database and filter them? Are you already using an email marketing service such as MailChimp, ActiveCampaign?

    • @adrianpillai5683
      @adrianpillai5683 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AureliusTjin Hi Aurelius….let me clarify! I’m creating a list of suppliers I have identified for my e-commerce business. I’m not sending emails or using any kind of broadcast messaging service….. it’s a small list for one geographic region ‘India.’ While I have made my shortlist painstakingly through online research, I’d like to know if there is a more efficient way of getting or collating emails/ contacts. I’m a one man company at the moment, trying to maximize effort. I’m now starting to use a lot of the chrome extensions suggested by you, hopefully I’ll be able to do a lot more with the resources at my disposal. Hope I’m able to articulate my requirement. Also, truly appreciate your quick reply. Keeping making these videos, they are excellent! Cheers!

      Allow me to elaborate more :) …. ecomhunt is a really nice tool that allows faster research, in the same way is there an extension for contacts and mails to be collated by visiting websites. Also, can the tool suggest similar supplier/ manufacturers?!

This is the first time I saw somebody asking for id verification for PayPal integration, cause I have seen in most places the PayPal Email is enough to get paid from that site. So, I want to ask if this is 100% safe to provide a National ID to them? Is it mandatory?🤔

    I was loving payhip, working on it for 2 months. Shop was fully designed with almost 70 digital printable wall art products and suddenly they erased my account without even sending me an email saying good bye. I was really pissed of with that. I wrote them an email and they didn’t even took 1 minute of their time to answer. The designs were created by me on Canva with many working hours (a lot in fact). After that I searched online and many people were affected by this type of decision on their side. I really don’t recommend it because you can loose all your work in a blink of an eye. • @AureliusTjin
      @AureliusTjin  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, that’s because these platforms don’t promote or feature your products. You have to drive traffic to your product pages, so it isn’t the case of the more, the better. It’s more about which one is best suited for your type of product, business model, and budget.

      Yes but I don’t see why you would want to do that. You aren’t going to expose your product to more people that way because you need an audience. These platforms do not market your products.

    Could you please show the LIVE WITHDRAWAL METHOD you did Sir? You haven't show the payout yet. Creating account may be so easy but, some reviews said the payout is terrible because you would only see your money in your wallet or dashboard but you couldn't actually withdraw them. How true???. Please show us your ACTUAL WITHDRAWAL because you've been using this for 8 months Sir. I'm sure you were able to withdraw so many times already, am I right? Please make a tutorial on HOW TO WITHDRAW EARNINGS FROM KOJI Sir, Thanks a lot 🙏 I'm waiting

    Was about to make a gumroad today to sell NSFW 3D animations and they have 15GB max uploads which is good but if you have a return rate over 1%, they deactivate your account. That's not cool people spend all that time uploading 3D x and they deactivate just cause a troll want's their money back, and they don't even have to tell you why your account is deactivated, and they jack your money when that happens. Wack! Can I upload 3D X videos to the payhip and what is the max GB or product uploads???

    Isn't PayHip a little bit more expensive than Gumroad? For what I understand, Gumroad is 9% in total (including Stripe or PayPal fees). Whereas PayHip is 5% plus Stripe or PayPal and that could be more than 9% (I may have got this wrong).
    Also, Gumroad doesn't charge to upload the video lessons to their platform but PayHip does charge, I believe.....

      In my opinion, Gumroad is the best platform to sell your digital products, it's like Teachable, Podia, Kajabi etc where you have your space to sell WITHOUT HAVING TO PAY A MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION, Gumroad charges a fee for EACH sale depending on your lifetime earnings, you can send your money to a bank account or PayPal, I don't know if there is a fee to send the money from Gumroad to PayPal, I have to ask them.
