I get him getting vamp powers as a vamp. But those better be temporary. No one needs a superman length laundry list of powers. It dilutes the character and storytelling. Makes it boring/meaningless for the reader to play the "how are they gonna get out of it this time" mental game as they read.

Me: "because I know who was the first to wear the mask on earth - 616 and he never needed a lot of power up because is willpower it's his true superpower" (and that is true because Peter faced so many unpleasant situations in his life that if Miles faced even half of them he'd hang up his costume, I mean Miles scolded Peter because he left him alone to run New York for six months when he was trapped in another universe with MJ... let's face it Miles had a nervous breakdown towards Peter because he was the only Spider-Man in New York for six months! O_o if he had been for years what would he do? Shoot himself?)
The writers dont know why spiderman reached so many hearts as a superhero. The more they add powers to miles, the less relatable he is. Its sad honestly. Rip Stan Lee
Miles is just Peter Darker. Literally a blackwashed Peter except with a lot more plot armor. Spider-Man 2099 is a much better and more original alt "Spider-Man."
Hes never going to replace peter they need to get on board with that and make it work. They're trying it with the marvel spiderman games and i aint keen on it.
@@TheWheelman298 they need to kill him off permanently and go back to Peter Parker being the one true Spider hero again. Get rid of all the Spiderverse shit and just go back to making traditional Spider-Man stories where Pete will actually develop, change, and have better days over time while eventually getting re-married to MJ and having an actual family with her. The new Ultimate Spider-Man is doing that just perfectly so I genuinely don't see what the big deal or issue is with the writers for the mainline "amazing" series being too scared to ever take it that far. But they still gotta kill off Miles and never mention him again after they do because he's still just a watered down, black Peter Parker, just with nowhere near the intrigue or relatability.
Usually, when a character starts to get random bullshit superpowers out of nowhere, especially back-to-back, it’s indicative that the character is uninteresting on their own, or at the very least, the writer is running out of ideas.
That’s exactly what miles is. Before the movies no one on earth could tell you any of miles’ actual stories in ultimate they just see his race and scream “Black spider-man” like it means something
Reminder that Peter Parker never needed any insanely broken power-ups to be popular or sell well & continues to not need them, even in light of everything editorial's been doing to him. Hell, the handful of times he *did* get an OP buff, it's always been a short-lived thing that never sticks or happens more than once.
And the one time he had a nice actually thematical, justified buff, it got thrown away to mephisto in a gigantic waste Im not sure if anyone at all liked =^=
Nah he does get them, they're usually just suits he can change back from. Peter is built like Natsu Dragneel out of the manga Fairy Tail where he's not allowed to progress or change, while Miles is built like Goku, he just get better and glowier.
Miles doesn’t need any of this dumbass powers either to be popular which is why it’s so stupid. The two movies he has he doesn’t have any of this extra BS and the venom blast stuff is mostly understated.
Let's be honest: Miles stopped being an underdog the moment they gave him his OP "venom blast" power, which has effectively been an "instant win" button from the beginning.
Even then, I didn't like Miles when he started since he was essentially peter, but had more than he really should have. He got better, still copied past spidey storylines but did them rather flaccidly or just around average. Which isn't hard considering how easy it is to do better than the clone saga. Yet even then they never wrote anything unique about Miles. Everything he's built up has been given to him. Now Marvel just fuckin glazes him for no reason, giving him underserved boons that he's never really earned again. Its insane
@@RellyTommy Unfortunately, Marvel's been using that as an excuse to undermine & generally shit on him in every way they possibly can, often to prop-up their newer & "more diverse" replacement(s).
Like why even be Spider-Man anymore if you're literally Green lantern, rogue ,and static shock and have detective vision. The only reason he's Spider-Man is so they can sell more stories. Thank God play beyond the spider verse is the last movie because I don't want them to ruin that Miles
@@1992holycrapmiles in spider verse is pretty good I have faith they won’t ruin him. They didn’t degrade other characters like they do in the comics or insomniac games either For example Peter Parker 1610B was shown to be confident, funny and experienced while we got Peter Pussy of Insomniac saying “im sorry all the time” and being showed up by Miles at every turn. Peter B. Parker was treated as experienced and he clearly had the role of leader in the first spider verse film So I don’t think beyond the spider verse will suddenly disrespect other spiders or give Miles Saiyan powers.
The reason he’s spider-man is bc they want a race swapped spider-man who they think their version is an improvement over so that they don’t have to pay royalties every time they make a spider-man comic cos it’s not actually spider-man. This is why every single rebranded replacement of legacy characters are slowly becoming tokenised lame versions of the original character and less their own seperate character as their character gets more established.
"Creator's Pet" is a *MASSIVE* understatement, buddy. He's been a Gary-Stu since the introduction of his OP "venom blast" power, which conveniently one-shots everything/everyone he uses it on.
@@_Tzer Even if he wasn't *as* bullshit in the og Ultimate universe, he was still pretty freaking close, what with all the handouts & free wins he was given in his first handful of issues alone. It's gotten to the point where characters in-universe are calling Miles the "original Spider-Man" while Peter is a social pariah.
@@KingKeno_Yeah, like giving Miles all these power ups don't make Peter look worse at all, it makes Peter more appealing imo with how easy it can be to sink yourself into his powers.
@@bobtheball5384Yeah but the comics love dunking on Peter simultaneously, and are actively propping up Miles as the "cooler, more powerful" Spider-man. So OP is entirely correct.
They've hated Peter since Miles'/Peter Darker's inception. They are desperately trying to replace a character for everyone with a character that no one likes lol.
Which sucks because the neat part with miles is he's a look at Spiderman if he got a better start. Miles when he got his powers was a better person than Peter was when he got his, not seeking fame or glory with them. Things get a little messy between different versions of the story, but he ultimately takes up heroism because he had that example of Peter. He's not as good as Peter is now, he's still growing, but he has the advantage of knowing what a spider man should be from the get go, so he may go further. Giving him nonsensical power ups ruins that, he's no longer inheriting from Peter, he's just his own weird thing.
@@risingdoom It's not random bs though. Miles got his Venom-Saber through copying it from Rabble subconsciously after seeing her use her own sword a ton of times and from being pushed to his physical and emotional limits in trying to save his family. He got his Observational Spider-Sense from *training* it up through the breathing exercises he's been doing to try to reset his Spider-Sense, he literally stumbled upon it and kept training it to make it more affective, it's still not perfect though but that's ok, it'll take time to get there. And when it comes to Miles-Max? All Miles-Max is, is just Miles using 100% of his power, think of it like *One For All Full Cowl 100%* that Deku uses (or used😭) when he fought Overhaul, Nine and Flect Turn, he's using 100% of his power and Miles is doing the *same thing* with Miles-Max. And Miles got this form by becoming more confident and self assured in himself than he's ever been, all because of him going to therapy to try to heal from his PTSD. Now Miles is fully confident in himself and his full potential and that's a great thing, because it means that he's growing in power and skill as Spider-Man. But sure call it *"RANDOM BULLSHIT GO!!"* when there's literally context behind all of the new additions to his powers that he's gotten. 🤷🏾♂🤦🏾♂

@@leebreath2425 I do it because when it comes to power scaling Miles, I want people to know that he *earned* all of these powers and that they didn't come from nowhere. @@seanmaseola8216There are only two other Spiders who is on Peter's level in the 616 universe and that is Cindy Moon, the girl who got bitten by the same spider as him, and Miguel O'Hara, the Spider-Man of 2099. Cindy has superior speed, better Spider-Sense, and organic webs, but Peter edges her out in strength. Miguel O'Hara doesn't have sticky powers and Spider-Sense, but instead replaces it with claws and enhanced vision. The difference between (Cindy and Miguel) and Miles is that for every power they have, they lose something else. Cindy has extra speed but less strength, while Miguel has enhanced vision but no Spider-Sense. This keeps them balanced. Miles' problem is that he's getting powerup after powerup with no drawbacks.
I'm gonna be honest, Miles would not be this popular if Marvel didn't slap the name "Spider-Man" on him. That's not a dig on the character per se, but very few comic heroes can compare to Spider-Man in popularity, it's just a fact. So they tried to replace Peter with Miles in the Ultimate universe, that didn't sell as much as they expected. Then they tossed him at universe 616 with Peter, and now he has to "share" the spotlight, and in order to make him different from the original, Miles is getting more buffs. He's allegedly the "better, cooler" arachnid in the block, while Peter keeps getting dragged through the mud. But even at his lowest, Peter is still the fan favorite all around. The Spiderverse movies gave Miles a lot of visibility, but it did very little to establish him as an independent character.
I agree. This is why I think the Spiderverse sequels should've specifically focused on Miles being the Spiderman of his universe. Let him actually carry his own movies.
@@1992holycrap That's literally what the movies are about, it's exploring what makes miles different from all the other spiders, they gave him villains that have now become associated with him specifically, like spot and the prowler, 2 relatively unknown villains of spidey that now have an identity. It is unfortunate that the movies only have this kind of ingenuity.
@@1992holycraphe can tho?? that version of miles especially is more than interesting enough to carry a solo film, they gave his character a full facelift in those movies to make sure of that. one of my favorite parts of ATSV was the part in miles’ dimension before gwen showed up, it’s the closest we’d gotten to a solo miles outing and i loved it.
I can sorta get Miles having, like, one or two extra powers; his spider had more experimentation done on it than Peter’s. The invisibility thing is kinda neat, and I guess Spider-Woman also had electricity based “venom” powers, so there’s precedent for that (as bizarre as it is), but not to this degree. This is starting to feel like back in the day where they gave Superman a new random power like every issue for no reason.
The fact that he was given bioelectricity alone does not make sense. I think it was YellowFlash who often mockingly said something in one of his older videos along the lines of: 'I 'Yeah, I remember how I often get zapped by the spiders in my bathroom' when talking about when Miles did the whole create a lightsaber on command thing. Now, he can use it to go SSJ. How are any of these power-ups related to being a Spider-Man variant? They are clearly meant to make him stronger than Peter over being relevant, which only hurts Miles in the long run. I hope that if there is another version of him that appears in the new Ultimate universe, they will do better. I hope there won't be new Ultimate Miles since 616 Miles was from the original Ultimate universe, but if there is a Miles 2.0, they don't go all crazy like they are doing with 616 Miles.
theres not even an inherrent issue with the bio-electricity as the concept with it being justified to an extend by gene editing. its just that miles is the quintesential token character that is a puzzle piece trying to be inserted in an already complete puzzle.
I still to this day think Miles secretly being from another universe is pure ass and God awful writing made to make him seem more important than he needs to be. You're not convincing me otherwise.
@@RealSlendyBoi Yeah, I've heard a few saying Miles should have been kept in the OG ultimate universe. There, he had his villains and stories and was not giving off the token feeling because Peter was dead (after a heroic end), and Miles was carrying on the legacy. In 616, they keep going 'look how some he is' while F-ing up Peter and going 'he is a loser' and having Miles read Peter the riot act to further proper up Miles.
@@XVDragonGamingpeter wasn't dead just in hiding, but yeah by that point miles was carrying ultimate universe cause the writing for the other comics got bad or boring so cancellation was imminent
Funny thing is that, Peter used to have power-ups too. He was the host to The Other for a while which enhanced all his physical attributes, gave him a superior Spider-Sense, organic webbing, and stingers which he could use to stab people like Wolverine. But apparently fans hated it so much that they had to retcon all of it post-OMD and revert Peter to his base powers.
It's kind of amusing that marvel can never truly create a true legacy for any of its characters, something DC has done time and time again to great success. The blue beetle, the flash, even batman himself has had a solid legacy counterpart. But marvel can't seem to do anything with their legacy counterparts because they feel like lame inserts. Miles as a character cannot co exist with Peter in the same universe, he's a LEGACY character. The ultimate comics did something right by having miles take over when Peter died. But having miles and Peter just share the same name creates a fuckton of confusion and makes everything more redundant. Or they could do what they did to Kaine and ben riley: just have miles become his own type of spider figure. We all know the scarlet spider and shit, so why not make miles the... phantom spider, let's call him that. He can turn invisible and has that odd bioelectricity thing, right? That's something ghosts also have. Have him be a stealth oriented spider character.
Since we’re on the topic, it’s dumb that Peter hasn’t had any long term power ups that stuck around. Although not cannon, I always like how they did his spider sense in the web of shadows game. He even developed his own unique martial arts “The way of the Spider” and got called out by the guy who helped him make it. It’s on record that Peter would be pretty much unstoppable if he practice it and even he admits that. It’s non-lethal too so there isn’t the “oh I might kill somebody if I’m not careful” excuse.
Maybe check out his comics first? Because these power up *do* come from character development, especially Miles-Max. Well expect his Venom-Saber, that comes from him copying Rabble's energy sword. But he still trains with it to be more effective in using it.

I haven't read a Miles comic since Bendis finish up and went to dc. But I've kept up enough to see that Miles own story is still isn't getting better. Again, I know I haven't kept up with Miles, but I can't name a single arc he went through that is his own thing. Every arc he's been through is similar to Peter. Meanwhile, the likea of Ben, Miguel, Mayday, even Anya, Jessica, and Mattie have their own journey and arcs that aren't completely similar to Peter. Its cool Miles is getting popular, even cool to see how well regarded his comic is compare to Peter's, but his story is still lacking. Like, is he in college? Are there more stories focusing on his little sister? Are there any interesting drama going about in his life that is unique to him? I at least hope these questions can be answer in the comics if i ever read it.
It's probably mostly cause Miles is a huge household name now, but I honestly agree somewhat. They just need to make him veer off into being a prowler variant of spider man or something cause there are too many spider heroes now and idk it feels over saturated especially when the COMIC writers don't know what to do with him.
I assumed it's because he got bit by a glitchverse spider instead of a radioactive one. Bro is the protagonist of every Spiderverse ever, figuratively and literally at this point.
He needs to actually *train* again. But he doesn’t. Miles has been training his Spider-Sense for awhile now (because of him using breathing exercises from his therapy sessions) since it’s been broken and it’s because of his training, he’s been able to focus his Spider-Sense to detect danger before it comes to him and see people through walls and those who are camouflaged. Peter could’ve done ALL OF THIS years ago if he kept up his training, but he didn’t, he slacked off and didn’t train at all since Spider-Island and Slott didn’t expand on that plot point either. In my opinion, Miles is just improving on something that Peter abandoned a long time ago, if Peter HAD kept up with his training, took his Spider-Sense to Assassin Spider-Man’s level and *then* Miles had started his own Spider-Sense training no one would “care” as much as they do now. People are just mad that Miles is actually improving as Spider-Man and getting all these “power” amps and Peter isn’t getting anything.

And it's the same with his Observational Spider-Sense, because he trained for that power up too. Miles getting all these power ups and training to make them more effective in battle or in daily superhero-ING (blame auto correct) is a great thing.

Peter B. Parker was treated as experienced and he clearly had the role of leader in the first spider verse film
So I don’t think beyond the spider verse will suddenly disrespect other spiders or give Miles Saiyan powers.

The difference between (Cindy and Miguel) and Miles is that for every power they have, they lose something else. Cindy has extra speed but less strength, while Miguel has enhanced vision but no Spider-Sense. This keeps them balanced.

I'm gonna be honest, Miles would not be this popular if Marvel didn't slap the name "Spider-Man" on him. That's not a dig on the character per se, but very few comic heroes can compare to Spider-Man in popularity, it's just a fact.

How are any of these power-ups related to being a Spider-Man variant? They are clearly meant to make him stronger than Peter over being relevant, which only hurts Miles in the long run. I hope there won't be new Ultimate Miles since 616 Miles was from the original Ultimate universe, but if there is a Miles 2.0, they don't go all crazy like they are doing with 616 Miles.

Web of Shadows is still my favorite Spiderman game. Such a fun game!
Someone needs to tell marvel that giving Miles all these gimmicks, doesn't equal to character development
Maybe check out his comics first? Because these power up *do* come from character development, especially Miles-Max. Well expect his Venom-Saber, that comes from him copying Rabble's energy sword.

I’m honestly surprised bishop hasn’t had his omega level moment yet. They could make a story where he absorbs a power grid or make his buff due to how digital the world is today and have him take all of that energy. His powers are limitless which is the definition of an omega level mutant

Spider-Man is Peter Parker. Peter Parker is Spider-Man.
And there is no need for a second Spider-Man.
Peter also could do the new spider sense thing miles have,he just has to concentrate. He did it before
He needs to actually *train* again.

The power ups weren't present at the beginning of his first run, but why wouldn't Miles try to experiment and do more with his venom (camo hopefully soon) as he got older? It’s refreshing to hear honest criticism spoken honestly. You, Young Rippa, and Just Some Guy should do a collaboration tackling this subject from multiple viewpoints. It would be brilliant. Good writing > Pandering to egos.
@@JosephCicone-z1j to see you compare me to Young Rippa makes me so happy 😀. I really love his work & his points so much.
@@sloantempest9421 he’s a powerful voice of reason and a diehard fan so his arguments hold a lot of weight with me. I did indeed get that vibe from you too. It’s a topic I take too personally and hate that I can’t speak on it without getting side eyes from people. Stay vigilant and hold these creators accountable for poor writing and weak ideas. Where’s Sungirl? Where’s Nightthrasher? What happened to Silhouette? Why is Calypso stuck in Kraven’s shadow? Why isn’t Blue Marvel more prominent? It’s not a stretch to think Spidey , Iron Man and Cap got the diversity treatment because their characters make money which to me isn’t elevating anything but rather diluting the vast fictional world at their fingertips. I’d prefer ACTUAL diversity. Hope to see more videos from you as there’s still so much to be said👍
@@JosephCicone-z1j im very sad to see that you feel that way. You arguments are valid but based on the color of your skin people disregard you. Which is sad
