This is a jumbled mess of a ride. The ride at DCA is fun and highly interactive. I am drawn to ride WEB Slinger over and over again versus IOA. I rarely ever go on the one in Florida when I’m in IOA
This was the first ever ride my service dog went on with me and I (not knowing how jerky it would be) was super nervous about her being traumatized and never wanting to go on a ride again. But nope! She loved it! Her tail was wagging so hard the whole time.
British Thrillseeker We joke about it a lot now having been on both Universal and Disney World rides with my service dog. Disney is very strict when it comes to which rides service dogs can go on and Universal is... less so😅
It's insane how Universal built this absolute masterpiece of a ride over 20 years ago, and the one Disney built a year ago is TERRIBLE compared to this.
I just visited Island of Adventure for the very first time and this was hands down one of my most favorite rides at the park. My family and I were shocked at how good it actually was.
It's actually surprising to watch this without the 3D. It seems so much flatter and lifeless. It is a completely different experience when you're wearing the glasses. But even lacking the depth, still better than Disney's.
Florida’s built on a swamp so we have a lot of land. California doesn’t have as much space because Universal is in the middle of the city. We have so much space that Universal is literally building a WHOLE NEW theme park
That’s good to know, I’ve only been to Universal Orlando and was curious if the Hollywood park was better. I would love to visit to do the backlot tour, but it sounds like the park as a whole isn’t as good as Orlando

That brings back memories. My cousin took me to Universal Orlando while my mom and dad were helping move my grandma out, and this ride was just so wild. I loved the immersive elements, like at 2:18, the heat Ock's flaming arm could be felt from the car you rode in. The whole experience was so much fun, each bump and jostle kept me laughing the whole time.
Had to remind myself what it's like to compare to Avenger's Campus' new ride and damn, this is 20 years old and the new Disney ride doesn't even come close! A great example of taking care to combine practical effects and screens versus simply making a lackluster arcade game that, not to mention, squanders Spider-Man's iconic array of villains.
I would agree if it weren’t for the fact Web Slinger’s isn’t meant to be Avengers Campus’ big E-ticket. And the reason they couldn’t use the Spider-Man villains is most likely due to the fact Disney would have to put up with Sony.

I remember I used to go to Florida every summer when I was younger (23 now) and I rode this one multiple times every summer when I was like 9. I stopped going around 11-12 years old and I forgot just how insane this ride was especially for it’s time. Still a mind-fuark today.
I was in 2nd grade when it came out and I went..I'm turning 28 this year when I go back with my family I created and they still have it running. I'm probably going to cry at the nostalgia. This was my favorite ride when I went I even did a school project making a little book about my experience of going to Florida from Michigan as a child.
I love this ride! Me and my wife went on it back in 2011 during our Florida trip. I liked it better than the Harry Potter ride. Here in Europe you don't have rides like this. The closest thing is Ratatouille in Disneyland Paris, but it doesn't come near the spidey experience. I hope to experience it again some day with my wife and kids. Maybe.. one day, when we'll be able to fly to the U.S again..
My #2 favorite ride at the Universal Orlando resort. First saw a video of this ride around 2011 or 2012, never could go because I lived all the way in California, but I'm happy to say that I finally got on it during a vacation to Florida on October 2nd, 2023! This ride is so much better than Transformers in every single way, despite using pretty much the exact same ride setup. It's just great. My #1 is Velocicoaster, riding that at night was the peak of the entire trip.

I agree hopefully Universal will make sure to keep the Marvel IP especially since their contract with is essentially indefinite unless Universal decides to close the Marvel Universe area, stop making payments for property usage, or Marvel opts out of the contract providing that it needs a reasonable explanation that Universal is mishandling the usage of their property but considering how the area is still popular even to this very day I doubt any of that will happen ever and overall it’s extremely unlikely to happen as well.
Please PLEASE don’t get rid of this ride on account of the new Disneyland one. This has been my favourite ride at Universal for years because you really feel like you’re sucked into spidermans chaotic crime-fighting life. This is by far SUPERIOR to the midway mania rip off

Just came from the Spider-Man ride at Disney. Gotta say, Disney Imagineers didn't do a whole lot in the Imagination department for their version, and really mucked their ride up. 20 something years ago and this is holds up better than something that just came out recently.
Now THAT'S a fun ride! Good use of 3D and effects, awesome voice acting, fast music and pretty cars. This looks so fun to ride :D I would enjoy it for sure! It looks more fun than the lame Hotel Transilvania ride with too much space, slow cars, loud music and barely moving animatronics.
This is a good ride that won who knows how many Golden Ticket awards, but it _also_ started the craze of 3D movies making up an excessive % of Universal Studios attractions.
In all seriousness this is the best spiderman ride of all time. Sorry, not sorry DCA. I mean DCA’s spiderman attraction looks cool and all but this ride is still the best comic based spiderman attraction. I love the MCU so I can’t wait to see what Disney does with spidey over in Anaheim but I’m a bigger fan of the comics and this ride will always be the definitive spiderman ride to me.
Went there this year for the first time ever with some friends and ngl we were all very skeptical since it kinda felt like we were going to just sit down and watch some old Spider-Man cartoons or something but then our minds were all suddenly blown away by how crazy and stunning it actually was.
I still remember all the lines and haven't been in years. I miss the 90s animated style music that they changed with the update. Anyone even comparing the Disney ride to this because they both use screens is blind. There is so much more going on.

I went on this About a month ago twice and it’s by far my favorite ride in the park. I went to Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios A N D The waterpark, and THIS Is my favorite.
I rode this is Japan. One word. Revolutionary. I just love the climbing up effect. I really we were going to drop! I could understand the Japanese version so it was amazing.

I rode this for the first time a few days ago. I had no idea what to expect, but I assumed it would be a dark ride on a track like Toad's Wild Ride. Imagine my stunned surprise. I screamed the whole time just out of surprise. Loved it. Never had an experience like that before.

They have this exact ride at Universal Osaka - it just isn't in English. They also had an Attack On Titan, Sailor Moon and Neon Genesis Evangellion live action/4D experience when I was there. Those were seasonal, I believe.

@@triple7marc lol, nobody here is coping. i think the way disney is handling its parks in the states is boring and absolutely stagnant. but this ride's success has absolutely no relation to the quality of any of disney's rides. web slingers is a midway mania style game ride, it isnt trying to give you a trilling and immersive ride experience, it's trying to be a game for kids! and the preshow is fantastic for web slingers, so it even manages to immerse you a bit. that being said, do i prefer universal's spiderman ride? i haven't been on it, but it looks pretty awesome and is going for a whole different level of immersion and action! but i am not a huge fan of any of universal's "put you in front of a projection" rides. this one looks like it has just enough physical set pieces breaking up the nonstop 3D projection that i think id be a fan! but again - this does not need to be compared to web slingers because they aren't even slightly similar rides. for the record, i think web slingers is okay, but it is not a great "ride" compared to disney's other stuff.
Even though I like Disney more than Universal I still enjoy some rides like this! I would have to say this is my favorite ride system to go on because it’s basically riding a roller coaster while watching a show.
This is simply a masterpiece of an attraction (the only dark ride I’d say is better is the Forbidden Journey), and the refurbishment only made it better. It wipes the floor with the Disney Spider-Man ride And it’s still a masterpiece in 2024 :)

I agree hopefully Universal will make sure to keep the Marvel IP especially since their contract with is essentially indefinite unless Universal decides to close the Marvel Universe area, stop making payments for property usage, or Marvel opts out of the contract providing that it needs a reasonable explanation that Universal is mishandling the usage of their property but considering how the area is still popular even to this very day I doubt any of that will happen ever and overall it’s extremely unlikely to happen as well.

Please PLEASE don’t get rid of this ride on account of the new Disneyland one. This has been my favourite ride at Universal for years because you really feel like you’re sucked into spidermans chaotic crime-fighting life. This is by far SUPERIOR to the midway mania rip off
Really liked this ride because Spider-Man, of course... but Forbidden Journey destroyed me. It's amazing that so many people can do motion rides and never get sick! How were you blessed with such great inner ears!
Wow I didn’t know it was an inner ear thing! I figured it was a stomach nausea thing. I’ve always thought my balance was off but rides like this don’t bother me.
My inner ear doesn’t work so I rely solely on my eyes for balance. I find spinning rides relaxing lol.
Spider Man is one of the only simulator rides that got my sister sick. At least Forbidden Journey was easier to handle.

Just came from the Spider-Man ride at Disney. Gotta say, Disney Imagineers didn't do a whole lot in the Imagination department for their version, and really mucked their ride up. 20 something years ago and this is holds up better than something that just came out recently.

Now THAT'S a fun ride! Good use of 3D and effects, awesome voice acting, fast music and pretty cars. This looks so fun to ride :D I would enjoy it for sure! It looks more fun than the lame Hotel Transilvania ride with too much space, slow cars, loud music and barely moving animatronics.

This is a good ride that won who knows how many Golden Ticket awards, but it _also_ started the craze of 3D movies making up an excessive % of Universal Studios attractions.

In all seriousness this is the best spiderman ride of all time. Sorry, not sorry DCA. I mean DCA’s spiderman attraction looks cool and all but this ride is still the best comic based spiderman attraction. I love the MCU so I can’t wait to see what Disney does with spidey over in Anaheim but I’m a bigger fan of the comics and this ride will always be the definitive spiderman ride to me.
That has to be one of the best rides I’ve seen in years. Can’t believe it’s an old one. Very ahead of its time.

Went there this year for the first time ever with some friends and ngl we were all very skeptical since it kinda felt like we were going to just sit down and watch some old Spider-Man cartoons or something but then our minds were all suddenly blown away by how crazy and stunning it actually was.
I'm not going to disagree about what is dated, I'm just going to 💯 agree that it's better than what DCA has!
As someone who slightly prefers Disney over universal you are absolutely correct.
I still remember all the lines and haven't been in years. I miss the 90s animated style music that they changed with the update. Anyone even comparing the Disney ride to this because they both use screens is blind. There is so much more going on.

I remember getting on this ride back in the summer of 2014, when i was 13 or 14. this ride is incredibly good! I miss going to universal studios and i miss my fascination with theme parks.

The one thing about the refit that lessened this ride is the soundtrack. The old music just kicked butt!

I rode this is Japan. One word. Revolutionary. I just love the climbing up effect. I really we were going to drop! I could understand the Japanese version so it was amazing.

I remember when I went on this ride when it first came out and I thought it was the coolest thing and was blown away, there was nothing else like it at the time! And it still looks amazing!
I rode this for the first time a few days ago. I had no idea what to expect, but I assumed it would be a dark ride on a track like Toad's Wild Ride. Imagine my stunned surprise. I screamed the whole time just out of surprise. Loved it. Never had an experience like that before.

you should do Flight of passage at Animal Kingdom. Although it's unfair to compare them because Flight of passage is quite new and Spiderman is old.

They have this exact ride at Universal Osaka - it just isn't in English. They also had an Attack On Titan, Sailor Moon and Neon Genesis Evangellion live action/4D experience when I was there. Those were seasonal, I believe.

@@triple7marc lol, nobody here is coping. i think the way disney is handling its parks in the states is boring and absolutely stagnant. but this ride's success has absolutely no relation to the quality of any of disney's rides. web slingers is a midway mania style game ride, it isnt trying to give you a trilling and immersive ride experience, it's trying to be a game for kids! and the preshow is fantastic for web slingers, so it even manages to immerse you a bit.
that being said, do i prefer universal's spiderman ride? i haven't been on it, but it looks pretty awesome and is going for a whole different level of immersion and action! but i am not a huge fan of any of universal's "put you in front of a projection" rides. this one looks like it has just enough physical set pieces breaking up the nonstop 3D projection that i think id be a fan! but again - this does not need to be compared to web slingers because they aren't even slightly similar rides. for the record, i think web slingers is okay, but it is not a great "ride" compared to disney's other stuff.

Even though I like Disney more than Universal I still enjoy some rides like this! I would have to say this is my favorite ride system to go on because it’s basically riding a roller coaster while watching a show.

Phenomenal ride! I rode it in high school I've since introduced it to my son (6). He was scared but loved it!
This is simply a masterpiece of an attraction (the only dark ride I’d say is better is the Forbidden Journey), and the refurbishment only made it better. It wipes the floor with the Disney Spider-Man ride
And it’s still a masterpiece in 2024 :)
