Simply one of the most beautiful songs ever since the beginning of music. It's a simple, elegant, and melodic song. I especially love the way they play it live allowing for 2 solos with the guitar - one that is acoustic and then a second solo a little bit later that is a "rock/distortion" sound for the lead guitar. Brilliant decision to make the original song, which is fantastic of course, and make it even better live with 2 solos using 2 different sounds. There is a reason they are one of the most successful bands of all time - and no, not just because of their model good looks. Their music matched their model good looks.
@@paterson44 Both electric in this live version, at 2:55 and 3:51. I think the commenter knows the album version (containing one clean guitar line and one with distortion) that allows for the line “just blowing away” in its proper place toward the end of the song. The radio edit cuts the first solo and places the second (containing that lyric) after the second verse.
This is almost the best song they ever wrote. They play any song live so amazingly. It also is a message to my ex wife, my heart is eternally broken and I won't cry for yesterday.
Unlike most bands I've listened to live. They keep this song sounding great year after year. It sounds as good today as it did when they first introduced it in 1993.
Agreed...this is my favorite version of this song live. WC is on point with the tones and loose blues feel in the outro!Diggin' all the ethereal sounds throughout also...Honest and true talent all the way around!
I agree. The Warren C years were great. Kinda like what Mick Taylor was for the Stones. I mean let's face it. Andy T didn't have the cajones to do that brilliant guitar solo.
I remember they asked one of the members of Duran Duran what their best song was. He said ORDINARY WORLD. I couldn't agree more. It means even more to me after a break up. ........"still I can't escape the ghost of you."
Duran Duran - Ordinary World Came in from a rainy Thursday on the avenue Thought I heard you talking softly. I turned on the lights, the TV and the radio Still I can't escape the ghost of you What has happened to it all? Crazy, some'd say, Where is the life that I recognize? Gone away But I won't cry for yesterday, there's an ordinary world, Somehow I have to find. And as I try to make my way, to the ordinary world I will learn to survive. Passion or coincidence once prompted you to say "Pride will tear us both apart" Well now pride's gone out the window cross the rooftops, run away, Left me in the vacuum of my heart. What is happening to me? Crazy, some'd say, Where is my friend when I need you most? Gone away But I won't cry for yesterday, there's an ordinary world, Somehow I have to find. And as I try to make my way, to the ordinary world I will learn to survive. Papers in the roadside tell of suffering and greed Feared today, forgot tomorrow Ooh, here besides the news of holy war and holy need Ours is just a little sorrowed talk (Just blown away) And I don't But I won't cry for yesterday, there's an ordinary world, Somehow I have to find. And as I try to make my way, to the ordinary world I will learn to survive. Every world, is my world (I will learn to survive) Any world, is my world (I will learn to survive) Any world, is my world Every world is my world
Best version of this song I've heard. Awesome that finally Simon's vocals were at the forefront. I don't think it was about the guitar work that made the difference (in this case) , but I always wanted to hear Simon's voice max out
It's enhanced to _oblivion_ though, he can't sing live for love nor money sadly. I can see why they got rid of Warren 'cause the guitar upstaged them - fantastic performance.
Damn...Why didn't the 80's an 90's seem as good then as they do now in my memories...Sucks gettin old, live life to it's fullest while you have the chance....
I've lost 2 relatives within the past month and this song makes it hard for me to swallow. But in a good way. It makes me sad but at the same time it uplifts me. I've been a fan of Duran Duran since I was about 10, and I'm 30 now.
This song is so so relevant in 2021. How the world was stolen by the few and have taken away from current and generations. We all yearn for pre covid as it is an ordinary world and somehow we will survive. Best song ever. Bring back the 80s and 90s.
Oh Simon, you're so captivating, even now, 2021... The lyrics are so poignant, no matter what we are going through, life goes on - we are insignificant, ours is just a little sorrow... Deep.
Two tickets to Duran Duran, $190; hotel stay, $70....getting to Chicago Theater last night just in time to see them perform after getting stuck in rush-hour traffic and having car problems...FRICKIN' PRICELESS!! I'm still reelin' from the feelin' and ready to see them again!!
It is so much better to get shots of the audience just respectfully listening to a great performance. They didn't seem to need bodyguards. Everyone was just right there, performing and taking it all in.
Warren brought something special to this song that no other guitar player has been able to re-create
3:50 solo.
Sure did...EYE candy
@@vickiejenkins-tripp5994 dear god... the man is a Zappa disciple
True the current guitarrist is horrible in this song

When Warren at 3:50 plays this, like a boss... cos he wrote that lead. Fetches tears to my eyes
Musical maturity is reached after 32 and this is a clear example
Best live version I think.
+Toby Gray I agree also
3:50 warren cuccurrullo.
The one they released like 3 years ago is so much better
FACTS!!!!
i do like more the one with warren th-cam.com/video/tqkR4qu1VMk/w-d-xo.html

where are the two solo's one acoustic and one heavy?
Totally agree-well said.

3:50 one of my favorite guitar solos ever, it's so catchy
Best pop-rock ballad of the 90s, and a brilliant live performance!
Great song great band great warren

This is the best perfect live version period!!! distorted solo in the end .
@Derek Gleeson Disagree with ya on that one. This is definitely one of the top 5 best performances of this song.
3:50 WaCo
They did it better with Andy Taylor on the reunion tour.
That vocal is maddeningly good...
One of the top falsettos I've heard. Nails it live. True talent.
Simon LeBon has great soul stirring vocals on this performance. Nick Rhodes is always great on the keyboards.
I thought that was Draco Malfroy on keyboard. 😂
His voice is fucking amazing, even when the time has passed, he still conserves his awesome talent :)

In my opinion, a perfect record. Duran's finest, and this is a damn good performance. Sends shivers down my spine every time I hear it.
Awesome live performance!

3:50 el mejor solo de esta canción, sólo la podría haber tocado su creador. El mejor. WARREN CUCCURRULLO.

A voz de Simon e a guitarra de Warren são indissociáveis nesta canção e nas demais onde houve este encontro na banda.

Marked this elsewhere. Same show. Underrated, but the core band is still one, methinks? One of their best recordings! 😊
Favorite live version
For those that is wondering, this is the Album version, which 5 mins plus long (only difference in the ending, which they change it a bit.)
I know it’s not the Taylors but this rhythm section is killer. They should have gotten Warren back.
