How can I make a cohesive theme in a junk journal? This is a design team project for The Digital Collage Club (Please see links below). What makes a junk journal theme cohesive and how can we create that? In this episode I'm going to show you a super simple beginner friendly no-sew binding and how I make the cover.

Future Barbara was a smart cookie 🍪 I love that you used the the picture hanging hardware as a closure. They sell packages if that in the dollar stores although you probably get more pieces at Walmart.

I liked the first cover, but you were right, a sturdier cover and three signatures was a better plan. Beautifully done.
Glad you changed the binding. The first one didn't look like it would have held the signature in very well. Beautiful journal, the red sari closure goes really well with the front cover colours.

I absolutely LOVE the revised journal cover! You are right, Luise would have custom dyed the fabric, I laughed when you said that! I love your creativity and taste :) may i ask what type of printer you print the digitals? I am new to using digitals and inkjet printer makes the paper a bit weird and laser printers are so expensive. Could you share your printer settings if it is inkjet?
Ah and also paper weight. Do you always use cheap copy paper as 80 gsm or how do you do the settings for heavier paper?
Thank you! I have a Canon TS5050 inkjet printer. I mostly print on regular copy paper and when I think of it, I change the print quality to “high”. I usually do t change any other settings. I hope that helps.

That's lovely where you've done a small collage with calm all around, very effective. Lol I think owls are scary 😂 Luise agreed. I do like videos where you try something new as we it's more realistic and honest. Shame about the cute binding not being stable but it bothers me if mine aren't stable. It is beautiful with its rich, lovely autumn hues and creative techniques like free flow stitching, gelli printing, and journal binding. I love your use of "negative space" which highlight even more your lovely art. Also you wonderfully showcased how to create a cohesive journal with repetition of color, elements and use of special techniques. Ya know, while you were doing the first binding, your voice some how did not sound as enthusiastic. It was pretty ... but not quite "Barbara" finished! "Future Barbara" really stepped up. Pretty awesome! Beautiful work Barbara. Every Fall I read and decorate my home with foxes. This journal is speaking to me on so many levels but esp the foxes of Fall. And then when the cover was s fox,,,sigh!! I have a collection of stories of children and teen fox books, and non-fiction adult books as well.
