it has heat pump for extended winter range,it has a clutch to deactivate front motor from powertrain in dual motor variants which will lead to 16 percent greater range in dual motor variants and increase of 11 percent in single motor models which is impressive and it will closer the gap between dual and single motor models in range,so you can get similar range in long highway trips in dual motors to single rearwheel drive motors which is impressive indeed,very well done mercedes

Well done Mercedes: You found a way to make the i7 look pretty! These things depreciate in value like crazy, in Germany you can buy an EQS thats not even a year old from a certified dealer with very low millage (20-30k miles) for around half its original price and it even is a clean title. Finding such offers is nothing rare, it just shows that no one on earth wants the Mercedes eq series cars!
100% agree with you here. They forgot the most important thing. People dont desire these cars. They might be good to drive or something, but do I want one? Hell no!!!
@@runeisaksen6781 What makes this even more stupid: The EQS has an air drag coefficient of 0.2 and looks like shit. Just to compare this number: The w205 c-class (a very beautiful car) has 0.23 and a g30 5 series has 0.22. Moral of the story you can make very aero dynamic cars that look fantastic and I am shure that Mercedes would actually start selling a couple units if they would sacrifice a tiny bit of range for a nice looking exterior.
Dude, here in the UK they have literally available stock for every combination of EQS in the premises. When I tried the configurator, I thought it was showing an average time to deliver. I called MB, they told me they have plenty of stock available. By means of plenty, tens of new cars. They do 0.0% APR over here and a discount around £15k without negotiation.
lol in Australia... we can't even configure the car anymore... just had to buy a stock inventory as they are not selling.

Sticking a fake grill on the front ain't fooling nobody... it still looks like a Model 3 competitor as opposed to an electrified S Class.
I just wish it STILL didnt look like a 100k+ Toyota Prius. Thats the EQ line's biggest deterrent. If they could just have done an update to the AMG GT body and put all the tech/battery architecture etc It would've been incredible - desirable. IT's got a .20 Drag coefficient - well the W213 had a .23. Its possible to achieve the range and low drag and have a beautiful car.
Well said! Mercedes have totally lost the plot…comparing the new egg shaped designs to BMWs muscle bodies just saddens me! The EVs are damn expensive compared to competitors..the least they could do is give it a befitting body!

My elderly parents have owned over 50 new Mercedes in their lifetime and they would buy a electric one but they hate the electric cars designs, people just want a normal nice looking car not some weird egg shaped pseudo futuristic design

In recent designs Merc has removed the hood ornament and decided to slap 3 pointed stars all over the body and the lights instead which just looks ridiculous…
They need to recreate the entire chassis, that shape is just hideous, even the new prius looks better. We need the iconic long straight hood. If ur gonna do short hood taycan did it best, mid engine supercar style

My biggest problem with the EQS was... the price.. imagine paying that much money for a car that looks not that good... or paying that much for a trash e-car which nobody cares in some years...

It still doesn't look all that great, HOWEVER, it definitely looks better than before despite the changes being smallish (exterior wise).
The only uglier car is its own predecessor.

For me the biggest upgrade is the rear seats in this update. Correct me if I’m wrong, but when EQS launched, I don’t remember Merc marketing it as an S-Class alternative. No long wheel-base, no PR material of a lounge chair for the back and no dedicated 2-seater thrones, all of which are heavily featured in the S-Class marketing. So now it’s good to see the luxury has been taken a step up in this update.
Will anyone buy EQS to drive it? No they can buy the Taycan.... Will anyone buy EQS to sit at the back? No they can buy an i7

Personally I think the 7 series with its controversial looks shouldn't be the model for a future S-class. It's just a massive waste of space. I'd much prefer traditional looks (three-box) with smart packaging like in the Lucid Air, meaning huge interior space, a big frunk etc. in a relatively compact car.
About the new EQS. I think it a nice upgrade compared to the previous model.
The most elegant electric car yet
When I drove the ‘old’ EQS (450+ and 580), I was really disappointed by the comfort of the rear seats. In general I also didn’t get the same luxury vibe as I get with the s-class. Although the driving aspect of it was nice and nearly as comfortable as the s-class. It doesn’t seem to be worthy of the S name imo.
idk in person even the original eqs looks pretty darn good, spaceship vibes especially during the night.
The basic shape is still ugly, regardless of the drag coefficiency being better.

Wow somehow theyve managed to the grill and headlights looking looking more like they cone from a previous gen Honda. Check out the Honda HRV from 2017, that grill amd headlight design looks very similar.
The new face is a vast improvement.
But still a bit expensive and still not as luxurious as an S-Class. Still, a step in the right direction.
I wonder if you can retrofit the new grille in the 2022 model.

Alot of the people here misunderstand the EQ sedans particularly this one. It legit has one of the best range of ev and they are really desirable in our region. People buy them for the range and yes they are cheap due to depreciation compared to rivals.

The way they can fix this car is by scraping it and make a completely new one
So, it has improved range thanks to more battery capacity and updated regenerative braking software, and the car companies why used EV prices are dropping at a faster level vs ICE used models, if every few years, the battery tech gets better, it means the older tech there is absolute (old), so, if not a software update, car companies are destroying the value of used EVs, every time they do a midcycle update or new-gen

Much hate here, but I can certainly see myself enjoying driving to and from work in this, enjoying the Merc comfort and Burmester sound system, instead of standing in a cramped and delayed train.
Dead front on it looks fantastic. I just really dislike the look of it side and rear views. The sooner they move these models to look like the fuel versions the better with updated lights etc. Range is getting there now also.
People don't realize but Mercedes and BMW are competing to see who can come up with the ugliest car 😂

The software used within the hyper screen looks very poor. Its like a old Windows PC from 1998.
The new front is a marginal improvement, but it’s still pig ugly. A new grille and the lovely interior can’t hide that it looks like a vast melted slug. I’m still baffled that Mercedes actually greenlit the design.
People do not understand that EVs need to be round to have range, it is simple physics(aerodynamics).
The EQS is not imposing and lacks the grandeur as the S-class.
Now they can put Samsung solid state battery in S Class for 600 miles range, 10 min full charge time and 20 yr battery warranty.

Still 400v and not 300kw charging speed? 400v architecture is kept at no more then 250kw

Mercedes live in fear that they will fall into the trap that jaguar fell into in the mid 2000s and become an 'old persons brand' - they counter this by always trying to be as futuristic as possible, even if that's at the expense of making nice looking cars
I own one and I don’t understand the trashing of the looks of this car. I love it the first time I saw it on the street not knowing what model and had so many compliments since I owned it. I think the trashing mainly coming from Benz fanboys hoping that it should look more the traditional look. I’m so glad it didn’t, especially compared to the new S class.
