    Thanks so much. I’ve been driving around with a broken seat for two years. Because of you, I am now able to move my seat again.

    Took 20 minutes to get off and assemble. The clip took forever to get, finally figured out you can slide it in with the handle thru the hole and it will slide in fairly easily. Thanks bud

    I just used this video to get my seat moving! Thx a bunch. I have a 2009 silverado 1/2 ton. After I got the switch out and put it back in the both up and downs started working again but still no front and back. I took the 2 little plastic housings off of center slide and manually depressed the tiny metal bars with a screwdriver. That moved the seat back and forth! So now I know its the switch and just ordered one. Thx for the vid.

      same issue i'm having. Did replacing the switch work?

  • @imenyo
    @imenyo 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I just recently did the same exact thing in my Camaro (super similar to this Tahoe cause Chevy) but I didn't have to replace the switch. The problem my car had was it would recline forward but not backwards. So obviously it isn't the motor, just the switch. So I removed it the same way, got the switch box, opened that up as well, and inspected the internals of the switch. It seemed to have had a pin that wasn't making contact to the board so I just pushed it back into place. I also filed the switch a little on the sides where the posts are to allow a little more travel to the switch just in case the problem was that the switch didn't go far enough for it to register the command. Re-installed it, and it works like new again. You may have had a different problem but I just advise the viewers to try my method before having to buy a new switch. I SHOULD'VE soldered the pin that wasn't making contact to prevent it from happening again but it was so easy that I'm confident I'd be able to fix it again. Good Luck guys! I was ecstatic when I fixed mine. So many electricians bullshitted me with prices and excuses in why they couldn't do it. Doing it yourself is the best

Literally after commenting I saw that one of the recommended video said that for her, the gears that are attached to the motor shafts that move the front part are worn out and broken. Ima take my seat out and open that up. And replace that later on. What I wanted was for the seat to move back and forth the most. I will try that when it gets warmer.

    Derek, what was your symptoms of your seat before you replaced the switch? The seat would not move at all on one of the functions, all of the functions stopped working, would the seat make some noise but not move etc? Thanks for making the vid I have search the internet high and low trying to diagnose what is wrong with my seat on my 2011 Silverado where the forward and back will work but the rear of the seat bottom won't move up (it's in the all the way down position) but it makes a noise like it's trying to work when I push the button to adjust the seat bottom up.

    • @derekhall9528

      I believe mine would sometimes make a small noise but that was only because I was completely in the up direction already and it was the motors trying anyways. If I wanted to put the seat back down, there was no noise because the switch didnt work.

      @@briansteinocher3170 On mine the seat will move just a little bit and then it just makes a buzzing kind of like it's trying to move but it cant so I'm guessing it's something to do with the motor or gearing mechanism but I have not taken the seat loose yet to see first hand.
