For those watching and wondering what clip he's talking about on the lumbar (front) handle, there isn't one (at least not on a 2012). The best way to pull it off is by prying both sides of the handle at the same time. The reclining (rear) handle does have a metal C clip that you need to remove.

I was told by many people it wouldn’t be the seat switch and it would be the motora, it was the seat switch that was bad

I also noticed in my 2011 that the switch stopped working for the tilt up/down. Didn't bother me at first. BUT when these switches start to go bad like this. Power is constantly trying to go on and off causing a small parasitic drain. I'll replace it soon. Until then I'm unplugging it.

1aauto only has the "passenger" button available, will it work on the driver side?

I have a 2011 malibu and there are no screws that hold on the trim. When I look under seat I can see that there is a metal u-shaped clip holding it on. I have tried pulling on it but I'm afraid it's going to break. Is there a trick to these clips?

The driver power seat on our 2014 Impala started moving back on its own whenever I brake... quite disconcerting! Any ideas what could cause this relationship between brake and power seat?

Depends on if the switch is broken or the motor. For me this fixed back and front movement but the seat does still not go up and down. So guessing the motor or gearing for the up/down is bad on mine
